Hi Eugenia! If you ever decide to build a pond at the bottom of the slope to collect the rain water, you can use the rocks to reinforce the perimeter of the pond. Also, have you thought about making berms and swales on the slope? You could be able to catch more of the precious rain water that way and if would decrease the time and effort you need to use on watering.
Looking good on the Tractor ! Hope you get a good germination. For the next few years, after you cut the growth to a very low level in the Fall, plug aerate the land and then over-seed with the same mix (you may get a good seed harvest from the cuttings). Sometimes it takes 2-3 seasons to establish the goal you are after and achieve full coverage. And, yes, picking rocks could be needed over the next few seasons. Once established, the area will be stunning in bright colors ... yellows, blues, reds. All the best !
Qué lindo ver el terreno parejo y trabajado. Han comprado semilla certificada así que sumado al trabajo del terreno más la lluvia y el sol tendrán un hermoso prado. Enhorabuena !! 🍀
I planted a cover crop in any bare area we have. I didn’t realize it can also help to loosen the soil. I’ve got to do research to see if I got the right kinds to do that. Thank you! 🍃🌸🍃
The local family owned farm says new rocks pop up every year for generations 😢 but on a good note you’re getting your arm work out throwing rocks. 😂 Get some gloves to protect your hands. Love your seed choice! In my area people plant sunflowers to put nitrogen back into the soil and take out toxins. Where is the home you’re building in relation to this land? Love the drone footage! 😊
Her husband's channel has a lot of drone footage of the build and the breadth of their land / layout (offering this because I had the same curiosity!).
Hi Eugenia, I recommend looking into syntropic gardening. It’s fantastic for any type of soil. I can’t explain it very well, but definitely search it up as I feel you’d love this method with what you are trying to achieve.
I've been working the last few days raking the yard to prep for more raised garden beds hopefully one day I will have a patch as big as you. Very excited to be expanding along side you even if it's on different scales lol. ❤good luck 🍀
Just wondering if you were to create a terrace style perhaps it might suit your kind of place or have swales to catch water since it's a dry region am not sure some fertility might run down the slops.. but hardwork pays off ..great going
Hello from a small scale organic farm in south-east Australia :) we also have clay-loamy soil here. The attachment for your tractor looks like a rotary tiller, depending on what you're planning on doing with the land it might be worth looking into a BCS walk behind tractor (small, 2 wheels). Adding gypsum to clay also helps breaking it down. Have you heard of JM Fortier? He is a world famous market gardener and I think you'd love his work. Keep it up! Your cover crop sounds great
Hello!!!!! I love you videos!!!!! Please I have the same dream and the same project for my land in Portugal but I fon' t know where to buy the seeds???? Where do you buy it please???? Thanks a lot❤
I really am hoping and wishing you success with your soil regeneration. We are in a similar situation with our soil trying to garden what used to be ranch land on the side of a mountain. Oh the rocks!!!
Oh the rocks 😰 we have the same issue here in Australia on our farm… sometimes we joke we grow rocks also. Loved your positive bit at the end, how excited you are to be doing things you waited so long for!
Greetings from Poland. Thank you for this channel. I also can't eat dairy or gluten. I also love farming, but for now I only have a small garden because I work full-time and I have 3 children :) You are very close to me. I am convinced that you will succeed in what you do. You are great!
Eugenia, I love this episode- your excitement at 11:13 !!!! I appreciated watching you break down this rocky land and sharing the seed list 🌱 (I knew about Vetch and clover, but not Lupine as a nitrogen builder). It's going to look so beautiful with all of the wildflowers and the pollinators are going to go bonkers!!!! 🐝 🌼 🐝 Really looking forward to seeing the next chapter of the food forest. FELICIDADES!!!!
Way to go Eugenia 🎉 You and Pepe are such good go-getter’s!! I adore your food forest approach. You’re doing an excellent job nourishing the land that has been abandoned. Always excited to watch your next upload 😊. Take care 🌱🌳🌾🪻🌻🍄🌸
Good luck Eugenia! You both work so diligently, really preparing that which you wish you achieve, and thinking ahead, and of everything. Thank you and thank you on behalf of the soil which will be nourished while we all get to enjoy the joy and beauty of your thoughtfulness and labours.

I love your hands Eugenia❤️ reminds me of my own- hands to hold to fix to sow to grow to Do! So grateful for my hands- arthritic pain reminds me to be grateful. So great that these modern tools help you turn this ancient clay soil and the freshly turned earth is such an image of potential bounty. All the lupine will be beautiful! And I love clover. Your land seems to manageable and how fulfilling it must be to work it🎏🎏🎏
Dear Eugenia, love to see your dream come true after so much hard work❤and of course it's not finished - life goes on. I admire that you celebrate every step - I feel you get to enjoy it! It is not easy to celebrate successes, no matter how small or big. I forget or ignore it too often. I will try to remember🌱may your soil flourish and with it, may your food as well💦 🍲and if not, a friend of mine attends Soil Food Web online school, to learn how to revive soil. I don't know if you know it...happy January!

It takes a true gardener to get so excited about preparing soil! Cheers to a prosperous year!
It’s quite moving to watch you take care of this land, and the arrival of the rain ! I can’t wait to see all the plants !

That is exactly what I thought--use those rocks for a swale or pond!
cannot wait to see all that property green and full of flowers!
Alentejo soil looks impossible but it is rich and miraculous. Lovely tractor work!

You have inspired me a lot, I can't wait for the weather to warm up and I can start working in the garden!
The thing thats breaking up your soil is called roto-tilling. Its a roto-tiller attachment for your tractor. Great video! 😊

Such a beautiful place to show for all of your hard work! Have you ever considered bee hives in the future of your habitat? 🐝 ❤
You have a beautiful place. It's lucky to have found you and your husband.

I miss seing the nature around your home, like when you used to go in the wood or the lake.. 🌳❤
Why are the seeds so dusty? Are they coated - treated with pesticides? 🤔
I would love to make some bed borders with those spare rocks hehe
Love the video. Where are the overall from ?
