might want to pull the spark plug next time you use the starter to move something, engine will spin faster and starter doesn't have to fight compression.
You need to make a T junction with a reduced diameter return line back to the gas can for the electric fuel feed. That way the needle valve isn't forced open by the fuel pressure.
Hey don't knock silicon sealant because it's very useful stuff that can do a lot. I hate that I'm saying this because I have not had a sucessful attempt of fixing something using silicone sealant instead of a proper gasket. I took a small engine repair class and my step dad wanted me to fix his lawn mower because you had to press the rubber button, turn it upside down, then turn it right side up again to start it. Sadly my step dad was too cheap or lazy to pay for new parts. The only thing that really seemed to need replaced was gaskets in the end. The teacher gave me as much help as he could but since I had no gaskets I had to use silicon sealant and if I had gaskets the teacher thought it would have worked.
First thing I would do with that digger would be to replace the engine with a real engine, maybe a little 2 or 3 cylinder diesel engine. You can pick those engines up for dirt cheap if you go about it the right way. Buying an old piece of machinery from the scap man Just for the engine I've seen people on RUclips buying old rosd rollers, mowers, rotorvators etc for literally a couple hundred dollars that are rusting bags of junk but under the crap can be done a nice little diesel motor. A Deutz engine would be perfect as it has its cooling package built into the motor. The boom on that excavator should swivel if the cab doesn't rotate. Thats perhaps wot that pedal is for.
Other than needs a bigger gas tank, sweet little digger of a machine.give it a fresh paint job and flip it.good for small home jobs.someone will take it.!!!😊😊😊😊😊
I'd try cleaning it out really good. And get some gasket material from the auto parts store to make your own gaskets out of with. They sale it in sheets and rolls to.
if you still have the x you never need high on the speed it runs the motor to much an the hydo pump will work great at a low speed an it saves on gas well it has worked for me an just try it on lifting an other things because the hydo pump works great at a lower speed
Was that red fuel can with the electric pump at the start of the video, wired backwards? looks like the bubbles were moving towards the pump, not into the carb.... pumping backwards
Yeppers! Get yourself a small bottle with a sprayer and gasoline in it. Ether (starter fluid) is a last resort, I have seen more than one engine instantly ruined with ether. To each their own but I only use it diesel engines and then small squirts. Sometimes the school of hard knocks is the best teacher. Terrible place to earn a degree! Trust me, I know cause I have a wall covered with them, Lol
That oldschool ROPS bar looks sturdy as hell, I can imagine it adds a good few pounds to the back as a proper counterweight. I might implement this idea to my new mini-ex. Get big fat square bars on the back instead of this flimsy furniture pipe thing I have going on.
I watched a lot of videos with these small Chinese excavators and their biggest Complaint is how slow they are. I think that yours being an older model is a lot better made and faster than the new ones.
We call people like you a da. Take out plugs lube the cylinder. Don't leave it in gear when starting. Check oils. Slow down. Let it warm up before moving it. Move it slowly. dont cause more damage by rushing. Dont burn out the starter. Check the spark plug. There is a reason for all this because others in the past taught us by making the mistakes. We care if you burn out the starter. You spend a lot of time on these videos. Dont loose good watchers over small easly fixed issues. Be successful with good choices. Thanks for the video
Sounds like running over governor believe most of those small engines run 3600 rpms will live a short life much over that.great video keep up the great work.!
@@BradenBuildz forget the throttle play room LOL.. get a tach on it and you'll see it's in the redline. 3,600 rpms is max if you want the con rod and flywheel to stay together. LMAOOOOOOOO
Forget about glitter in your oil, you'll have a rod leaving the chat if you keep running it at that high rev. No advantage either as max flow of the pump will be matched to 3600rpm.
I'd get ahold of taryl fixes All on RUclips channel. He has A lot of older engines and parts for sale. He might have one for that machine.,or A carburetor rebuild kit for it at least
After you brought it home ? Didn't watch after u got it on trailer. But started rt up so fig u flooded it with too much starter fluid and fouled plug. Cool machine.
That had some funny jokes in there. I thought you could make a chain of nuts and wire to help remove rust from a tank. I use 30% vinegar with my rust nuts👍
This machine is well worrth restoring . I would strip it down and repaint it . These little mini excavators are quite handy.
Agreed
might want to pull the spark plug next time you use the starter to move something, engine will spin faster and starter doesn't have to fight compression.
I thought of that afterwards
I learn to help my dad fix cars by watching you thanks
Congratulations Braden. Thats how it worked when I 1st got it(except for the high speed). Knew you would get it back operating like it should.
im more impressed with that starter and battery than anything, pretty impressive🤣
Battery is huge. But yeah shoutout starter
If you put vinegar in a tank make sure to use baking soda after to neutralize the acidity otherwise it can flash rust
Younger version of Diesel Creek youtuber
A version that finishes stuff and doesn't talk your ear out for 30 minutes.
Keep up the good work remember there's not that much good Mechanics as you
neat lil rig you got there lot more fun then digging with a shovel i bet lol
OMG. I always wanted a tiny excavator!!!! Lol. Just to play around with. Just go outside and digs stuff. Lol
Me too!!!
It's a good feeling to see young people having interest in old machinery and repairing them, you have a great future ahead of you
I wonder how much it would cost if I bought it?
You need to make a T junction with a reduced diameter return line back to the gas can for the electric fuel feed. That way the needle valve isn't forced open by the fuel pressure.
Arm cylinder rod seems to be bent.. But nice machine

Nice job. Try contacting the maker in Japan, and let them know that you want to restore it. They may be able to send you some info on it. (can't hurt)
I love your channel
My twin cylinder diesel yanmar would be perfect on that thing
That’s kinda what I was thinking I would do a diesel swap on it

All the Chinese mini excavators are the modern day version of this machine. Very capable for its size.
They can do more then what there made for.
Take the spark plug out and starter won't have to fight the compression.
Should have pulled the spark plug while you were walking it with the starter would have been a lot easier on the starter
I little yanmar engine and a paint job would would be a decent little machine
Other than needs a bigger gas tank, sweet little digger of a machine.give it a fresh paint job and flip it.good for small home jobs.someone will take it.!!!😊😊😊😊😊
Man watching you load it on the trailer reminded me of loading my new mini ex lol
Put some Rotella 15w40 diesel engine oil in it. That has lots of zinc additive in it to help lubricate the engine better.
high idle is to high back off screw on idle. motor is over reving.
Good stuff did you have to match up the carb with a aftermarket one ,or did you get the original? Good content
Nice little unit. I dont know if I'd spin that old powerplant quite that hard tho. Keep up the good work. We're watching. Lol
I'd try cleaning it out really good. And get some gasket material from the auto parts store to make your own gaskets out of with. They sale it in sheets and rolls to.
The knowledge and suggestions shared in the comments section have been very valuable to me. Thanks fellas, for your input.
Hook up a water bottle with gas for a tank. Gravity feed will be enough I've seen head gaskets blow out from starter fluid.
if you still have the x you never need high on the speed it runs the motor to much an the hydo pump will work great at a low speed an it saves on gas well it has worked for me an just try it on lifting an other things because the hydo pump works great at a lower speed
Thank you for sharing, great video, great explanation , i learn a lot 👍👍👍👍
I like to use drain cleaner or some kind of strong acid on old gas tanks. Cleans the rust right out.
The hydraulic oil & filters changed ?
How much did you get that beauty for?
Was that red fuel can with the electric pump at the start of the video, wired backwards? looks like the bubbles were moving towards the pump, not into the carb.... pumping backwards
Nope
for future reference dont try to run them off of starting fluid it will fry the rings
Ok I'm New to the channel and I must say great job/channel 👍👍👍 but what do you do with the machines after all that work you put into them
Good little machine,well done lad.
😮😂yeah great idea....... starting fluid dries the cylinder out and causes damage to it and piston rings....
Yeppers! Get yourself a small bottle with a sprayer and gasoline in it. Ether (starter fluid) is a last resort, I have seen more than one engine instantly ruined with ether. To each their own but I only use it diesel engines and then small squirts.

What does something like that go for ?
To dry out the tank you can use a little rubbing alcohol next time and then let it evaporate.
If you could change the head out for a larger bucket and still dig that would be really useful.
definitely going to need a engine soon
Running at that rpm it will blow up
use ether/starter fluid sparingly. It accelerates engine ware.
It is small and slow, but much better than using a shovel.
That oldschool ROPS bar looks sturdy as hell, I can imagine it adds a good few pounds to the back as a proper counterweight. I might implement this idea to my new mini-ex. Get big fat square bars on the back instead of this flimsy furniture pipe thing I have going on.
The idle seems to be too high.. also the motor belts seems to be too dry.
Not much different than a pressure washer idle
Mate that engine is a Subaru ! Not Surprised !
how much did you pay for this mini excavator? Really cool
It's amazing how it works
I knew it would start right up. that thing is awesome!!!
I watched a lot of videos with these small Chinese excavators and their biggest Complaint is how slow they are. I think that yours being an older model is a lot better made and faster than the new ones.
Plus it’s Japanese
Put some bolts in the tank and shake it around to loosen up the rust
when you go to get work done, crocks aren't my first choice
Wouldn't taking the plug out of the engine be easier on the starter?
Thats a rugged starter to go through all that cranking to get it on rhe trailer , it seems like the engine runs good for how old it is
Was you able to get carb gaskets?
Yeah they came with the carb. $21 on Amazon.
Bro i though 2 vintage was hard on starters
I really hope to see more on this unit. I want to see it move some more dirt lol
The spark plug needs to be cleaned properly. Think u flooded it
I put a new one in
put a second fuel tank on it.
Just started watching but I’m so curious to how much it was. I’ve been looking for one for years.
I paid $1700 for it. The new china ones are around 6k
Definitely put a diesel on there

This channel may not be for you
Awesome little piece of kit ❤
Sounds like running over governor believe most of those small engines run 3600 rpms will live a short life much over that.great video keep up the great work.!
Believe it or not it’s not maxed out. The throttle still has some play room but it sounds pretty scary much higher than this. Thanks appreciate it
@@BradenBuildz forget the throttle play room LOL.. get a tach on it and you'll see it's in the redline. 3,600 rpms is max if you want the con rod and flywheel to stay together. LMAOOOOOOOO

Where did you get those fuel cans from??
how much you get it for?

That engine sounds like it's screaming
Let her scream

New carb
If with I could find one like that I could use it around here for so much
that was the best
Maybe add a larger fuel tank . Just a thought.
He's in Podunk, Indiana. Poedunk, Indiana. In the southern part of the state.
Great job man I enjoy watching your videos
Why didn’t you put directly the orange tank that looked new instead?
I said in the video that it was not a direct fit
That's A Briggs & Stratton style of carburetor on that Robbins small engine to.
how much you want for it
Needs painted and resto Job done on it now 😁👍
Neat little machine I would keep it around
That had some funny jokes in there. I thought you could make a chain of nuts and wire to help remove rust from a tank. I use 30% vinegar with my rust nuts👍
I used to sell stable and I do not recommend putting it in anything.
31:13 I feel like it would be faster to just use a shovel lol
Japanese or Chinese? Big difference between the 2
Says Japanese
Good video, you could probably run a larger smooth tooth bucket you’ll probably never need those teeth on Little Rock bucket
Invest in an electric winch on your trailer!!!
Turn the engine down before it blows apart !
🤔👍waiting for a busted hose. thanks
😂
that thing must run out of gas quick
Now to decide on what color to paint it…… hd green or case yellow
Rvs engine treatment would do good for that engine.
Looking to sell it?
2500 I’m in western ky
It's cool man I got a old World War II generator
USE ELECTROLYSIS LAD
WITH A BATTERY CHARGER THEN IF IT'S NOT THAT BAD PATCH IT WITH WELD OR EPOXY AND MESH SHOULD BE FINE
Throw some Lucas oil stabiliser in it works well for worn engines after a few hrs you will notice the difference
Dude how many skidsteers do you have 😂😂
Here's one with a diesel engine: jCICQW9tbFg
