When the Ottoman Empire was at its strongest, it did not harm the Armenians, but when it was about to collapse, it committed genocide against the Armenians. If it is true why would they commit genocide while they weakening ?
If they had committed genocide, I think they would have done it when they were strong.

they wanted to keep as much land as they could when the ottoman empire was dissolving, and much of eastern turkey is part of historic armenia. thats why they got rid of the people living there.

Because when they were strong, Armenians were a huge part of their economy, when they became weak, they wanted to remove the Armenians and take their sector of the economy. Ottomans only considered Muslim inhabitants to be citizens.
