As an Ipswich supporter I think that there is a distinct evidence to differentiate between Mc Kenna, Kompany and Maresca in a coaching sense, as Mc Kenna has been coaching for 15 years now, which is a considerable amount of experience.
He is a gifted communicator, works incredibly hard, and has improved older and younger players and has unified the club, and utilised substitutes better than anyone else I have seen in whichever league we have been in.
We have just had two exceptional seasons, which reflect the abilities he has, and I would be delighted if Chelsea, Brighton and Man Utd do not offer him their jobs.
Finally, I remember an extended programme on five live when they appointed Pep Guardiola, at Barcelona, saying he was inexperienced, and there were people saying he would never succeed and so on.

Pep Guardiola was in Barca B and they had loads of quality players that he coached from junior level, then with the experience in the squad already it made it easy for him to transition plus Rijkard was also good before him. The one thing I do not like about Guardiola is that managers all copy him, its all passing out from the back and trying to score tap in goals and for most teams it becomes a huge issue. What I like about McKenna is that he is astute like Inzaghi, he can read the game and changes things depending on how the game looks, my issue with Maresca and McKenna is they all had huge losses within the season and Maresca bottled a 17 point league its like De Zerbi for me as well they need a transition job before going to the next one and I personally feel De Zerbi failed at Brighton then he complained and left.

Fantastic convo. Big fan of both Joe and Gabe’s takes on their separate channels. Glad to have them on the same show.

Look at the roles McKenna has been employed in head of academy performance analysis at Spurs, courted by Liverpool but remained at Spurs until he moved to Man U as U18 coach being successful and subsequently moved up to assist by Jose and continued in assistant roles under OGS and Rangkick until going to Ipswich.
Look at the age of the players now coming through the ranks at scum and there you may have your answer why they are considering McKenna. He’ll know a lot of the youngsters having worked with them.
As for other clubs being interested in him. He has a very good CV and clubs are looking for the next manager. They’re probably tired of the same old names that while having been successful at some point are too demanding often wanting huge wages themselves and also an even bigger war chest to go out and spend. Football has over the last couple of years had to tighten the reins on the overspending that was only ever doomed to failure sooner or later.

As an Ipswich fan, I’m gutted it appears we won’t get a season out of McKenna in the prem. very hard job to stay up just got harder.
I always thought there would be a risk of an established prem team like Brighton poaching him and is logical progression for McKenna. Never saw the chelsea and united as being destinations.
However I have full faith our CEO and ownership will have been succession planning for sometime for this moment.

With Argyle it's not the American link, it's the scouse link. Their last 3 permanent managers were scouse and their Director of football is formerly of Everton. That is why Rooney is coming in. - This is why you shouldn't comment too early... All of what I said was already mentioned XD

I get McKenna, because he has actually achieved to consecutive promotions with a pretty mediocre team. Maresca, Rooney etc no.

clubs want a head coach not a manager that's the issue they want someone to have no say in transfers just play the clubs formation and develop players

Agents mate , its a dark under table industry , for a example of other dodgy , if a coach signs players from a certain player agency the coach will get under table payments and kick backs , they don't even sign because they are good players they sign them for kickbacks from players agents ...... its a dodgy industryv

No meritocracy and fickle owners who won't give management time to implement there vision. Its like managers sign just for the big payoff.

Directors in a lot of businesses now seem to show confidence in our new toy AI. People are being replaced by machines. These AI's are now replacing the middle class jobs. i personally think it's fool's route. Who needs a manager?
