Great conversation! I had just been thinking about mothers who knew. I think this is such a strong example of the faith we need in these last days, and why covenants are being talked about so much.
I just don't understand why there is a need for another savior to atone for our sins other than the Lord Jesus? It just doesn't compute with me..what am I missing?
I don't think it was ever said that there would be another Savior Jesus Christ. But a pattern of servants even unto death is not something new. I thought this talk by Kimball was good The Pattern of Martyrdom Elder Spencer W. Kimball But I could be way off
Only Jesus can atone for our sins. Perhaps the word intercessors might resonate better, as the language can be somewhat confusing. I would start by reading D&C 103 and then go from there. Mosiah actually has a lot of interesting examples of women intercessors. Another good story to read is Abigail in 1 Samuel 25.
Proxy Savior in the last days in the context of Isaiah refers to temporal salvation. Any spiritual salvation would be bringing those to Christ, who is our only spiritual Savior.
