As a doctor I completely agree with this. The main problem is when the hospital is managed by MBA graduates who doesn't value health or care about the patients. All they care about is the profit margins. And they put young doctors under pressure to prescribe more medicines and tests (by giving target) When we protest, we lose the job, bcoz they can easily find another doctor in the saturated healthcare Industry.
Are you telling us that by saturated industry, there are many doctors available in India? If that's the case then why is there lack of medical workers in India in contrast to its huge population?
Yes that is exactly what I am saying. See what you are talking is true. And what I am saying is that the number of hospitals are less. So the number of doctors are more than the availabe hospital infrastructure. Hence the industry is saturated. If a young graduate have to find a job, (getting a govt job is almost close to impossible ) hence have to depend of private sector. And even that isn’t enough because mostly they’ll take people under contract basis rather than permanent basis. So that they don’t have to pay for additional costs like insurance, TA DA and bonuses. So unless the government increase the number of hospitals and create more posts in govt hospitals, the huge number of increase in medical clg seats won’t be converted to actively working doctors.
@@ajaymohan1863 thanks for clarifying it and the additional knowledge. I got one more question- if these medical graduate students don't get jobs in India, they can always apply for abroad right, since they do have the infrastructure but the medical workers are in great demand, especially in the countries like USA and UK where the civilians sometimes need to wait for 3-4 months to even get an appointment! Also, the expats there would earn way more than working in Indian private hospitals so why wouldn't most of these people still wait to get a job here where there is a lack of infra while they can always apply for the countries where they are in demand?
To work as a doctor in any other countries, we have to write a separate licensing exam (USMLE for US and PLAB for UK etc) And in addition to this we have to write ILETS or OET exam for language. And to get a date for these exams is a big hurdle in itself. Like for example, PLAB-1 the next available dates are in 2025, and we can write this only after qualifying ILETS. And after we pass PLAB-1 We need to write PLAB 2. And for that we have to go to UK and do some course for 2-6 months. Also forgot to mention that these exams are costly (3-8 lakhs per exam per attempt) So newly graduated doctors don’t have that much money (unless they have family wealth) So even people planning to work abroad works in India for few years until they save enough or get dates for exams.
This was the general reason. For me personally I don’t want to leave India. No matter the flaws, the toxicity and bad work culture, I studied in a govt college and hence I owe it to the taxpayers and my country to serve them rather than look for my own comforts always. (That’s my personal reason) Hope your doubts are cleared.
I never thought doctors are struggling to find a job
I am doctor and i can confirm that many hospitals actually do it

😮 " dark side of " guy here
Unfortunately, the same situation occurred with my close cousin when she was just a child (12yrs). She fell ill and reached an emergency state, prompting a shift from Itanagar to Guwahati at a private hospital. Instead of providing genuine help, they prescribed numerous unnecessary tests and medicines, all seemingly aimed at inflating the bill. Tragically, she passed away, leaving her father, a farmer, burdened with insurmountable hospital debt. The heartbreaking part is that she expressed concern ( basically said sorry')about the debts she unintentionally imposed on her father.
So once again thanks for covering this crucial issue, you're one of my fav youtuber.❤

Same with my uncle, the hospital didn't even let him in, he had a cardiac arrest
@@Hakimshafin pls state city, state, hospital name if your going to name and shame so others can know pls
Now one thing people wouldn't understand here is that since the "consumer court" cases against doctors, everyone is terrified and being over careful. So if there is a slight chance you MAY need a test, they will have to prescribe it , since if it ever comes up in court, the argument would be "you didnt get this test done for the pt, you were negligent" . None of these test will seem "unnecessary" to the court when you are defending your livelihood against people with no medical background. They will always ask 'why did you treat without tests?' "why didn't you check for xyz?"
Also, the death of the small private clinic and the era of corporate hospitals is responsible for this rise in prices.
If you treat your doctors as if youre a consumer, and the govt categorieses this relationship as one that is to be held up in CONSUMER COURT, what do you expect ? Normal, rational decisions are questioned and entire lives and careers are ruined by emotional relatives with no knowledge of the medical field and are driven by the narrative that "doctors are out to get you".
The solution to pricing is visiting your local government hospitals, I don't know about other states, but in ours, it's a wonderful setup.
Excellent point. The whole era now with docs is being "safe" in practise. Always over treating instead of giving optimal treatment and later blamed for negligence .

I am a doctor and this video has a lot of truth. I tried to find out the cause behind these incidents and it came to light that the corporate hospitals are funded by investors who are not doctors, they are obviously looking for the return on investment. I am not saying all hospitals are bad but if a hospital is running just for the sake of profits it will have to sort to some unethical means or the other since it is difficult to make a profitable hospital. Believe me. But when I see hospitals making a profit I realise that their general ideology is not about making money but it is more towards giving results and building trust. A slower process but they do eventually make profits because people don’t hesitate to spend on health if they trust the doctor or hospital.
My Professor used to say that we must remember that we are in the satisfaction business and not just saving lives. If the patient and relatives are convinced that their doctor has put in every effort then they shall accept the fate.
People are not stupid, they just trust us in their most vulnerable time and we must deal with it honestly.
And finally, lets not forget that quality healthcare care requires a lot of money.
Being a doctor,i have worked in both Government and Private hospitals. While in Government hospitals, it is very hard to survive if you have strong ethics and morals, as other greedy and dishonest seniors/ staff will make your life hell for ruining their "business" , then in Private hospitals, you work like a corporate majdoor, where you yourself will pay for your treatment in the same hospital, no matter how hard you work., with limited leaves and extended hours of work. But we still work, because,at the end of the day, it is the most emotionally rewarding profession

Absolutely not. Prescribing certain company's medicine for commision? Does mba do that?
A few days ago, my uncle had an accident and broke his legs. We took him to a government hospital, but the doctors there didn't give him much attention, just a quick checkup. They said he'd have to wait for surgery, maybe 25 or 30 days. That night, we took him to a private hospital where the same doctor performed the surgery right away. This is why many people choose private hospitals over government ones.
You do realise why he may have to wait 25 days? We are most populous country, you want cheap you'll have to pay by time. This is not limited to healthcare there's a reason you're using private provider from mobile to airlines
No surgery is required for a broken leg. A plaster will automatically heal it in 25 days.
The Private hospital *fooled you,* by charging you for the operation.
There is no surgery in the world which can regenerate bones. Surgery is always done on the tissues.
Good calcium intake and vitamin D supplements should automatically re-generate bones in otherwise healthy people through natural bone remodelling process. Plaster is done only to provide external support to the broken bone.
In some special cases, where the patient has lost bones, but isn't able to regenerate it very quickly, osteoclasts are blocked using drugs like denosumab, pamidronic acid and zoledronic acid to prevent further loss of bones. And the patient still regenerates their bones, naturally, at a slower rate. But no operation is required.
Operation is only required if the limb has to be amputated. Amputation is never done because of the broken bones. Amputation is done because of the dysfunctional muscles. A plastic surgeon will do amputation. Bones specialists don't do amputation.

True when my father was admitted I have seen this we have insurance so we got almost double bill as compared to non insurance

I would love to tell you our condition there , no paid leaves , only cam take 2 days off in a month thats also unpaid . 10 hour long shifts no rest sometimes u would miss meals. Hospital use to charge a lot from patients and u got nothing in return . Pay was very less .50 k was mentioned but they use to do unnecessary reductions each month
POOR COMMON PEOPLES PLEASE DON’T GO TO PRIVATE HOSPITAL. IT’S THAT SIMPLE.
Yes as a doctor myself, this is true. But everyone must know that doctor is just an employee of a corporate hospital. And these hospitals are run by MBAs and CEOs, obviously their job is to make profit. Just like any other corporate company like TCS etc. Since doctor is the face of the hospital, people feel doctor is charging all the money, which is totally not true. Doctor just does his job takes salary and goes home that’s it. The ultimate bill has very little of the doctors component typically less than 10 %. Govt can definitely help here in getting the consumables at discounted rates to the hospital and making sure the benefit of the discount goes to the patient. And also take note that insurance policies don’t routinely cover consumables, so yeah it is a kind of nexus.. but don’t involve the poor doctor in this nexus, he’s just an innocent bystander placed as the face of the hospital to take all the blame.
@aditya saini also made on the same topic a while ago and both are really informative
In our govt hospital we do all free treatments free of costs but there is no facility for super speciality surgery and hence for these patients have to go to private like bypass surgery, cancer treatment other major surgery and some people in govt charge for services which are supposed to be free. But some private institutions are doing just horrible buisness just as you mentioned such people should be banned.
Brother Most of the private hospitals are owned by businessmen or politicians (kindly do your research in this to) Don’t defame ‘DOCTORS’ ache we research Krro , dheko hospital m management kiski hoti h, phir you’ve a right to speak against doctors 🙂
Health insurance kaise bikega fir...
Ohhh hoo baat chubh gayee doctor sahab ko. Dude, you are getting touchy I understand for you being a doctor yourself but sach sach hi hai. My mother ek medical negligence ki victim hai aur when I told one of the Gastroenterologists the reason behind her health issue, usko bhi aise hi mirchi lag gayee thi. Bro, my Father In Law himself is one of the reputed doctors of my city and he himself says if the doctors have the will and ethics, just by checking the pulse of a patient a doctor can tell what disease the patient is suffering from. With due respect to a few handful doctors who are still adhering to the ethics of their profession, the fact is Medicine is the most abused profession today along with the education field.
...aur mere native mein 99.9% hospitals are owned by doctors themselves jinhone public ka (read patients) ka khoon choos chooskar paisa banakar khade kiye hain. Meri family aur relatives mein 5-7 doctors hai so I know the facts.

Private Hospitals should choose Electoral Bond Option to save themselves from Government 🤭
We are thankful that finally someone steps forward and tries to give a glimpse of private hospitals scam.Govt should take initiative, there should be capping for each treatment to stop monopoly and innovative ideas to loot money from common people.
Most of the Private hospitals have investment from Politicians..thats why Poor condition of the health care
I think there should be no private hospitals in a country like India. These private hospitals charge heavily to make profits, even if the patient is incapable. But it is also true that in these cases, govt. is very lazy. I think Hospitals should also be like many PSUs of our country. The majority stakeholder is govt. but some stakes should be owned by private entities. This will provide good healthcare at affordable price to common people with best possible services that are available in today's private hospitals. Also this will reduce burden on insurance firms and on govt. itself as healthcare at reasonable price will reduce the bills of patients. This will save govt.'s precious money that it is providing to people as health credits through many yojanas!!!

Owner had his own pharma plant n needless to say apni hi dvai thi mrji ka rate tha . Sometimes we use to do procedure on patients in emergency eg a child came with bead stuck in nose , the only thing i did was removed it with a proper technique but later i got to know that they charged 6 k from family for such minor procedure . So conclusion is that even doctors are also pray of such a system . They are just corporate majdur with worst working conditions underpaid for their skill while those non medicos make money like hell without ethics

Mere sath hua ek incident batata hu: Me ke medicine lene Medical store gaya tha, mere ko medicine ki cost batayi 250 lekin mene bola mujhe x doctor ne bheja hai to mere ko store wale ne 110 me wo medicine de dedi😟
And why health care should not be a profit making business? Don't the people working there have to pay bills, expenses, tax, their own health expenses, education fees, EMIs?
Then That way water bottles shud be free, food restaurants shud be cheap, Lawyers should be cheap, And private education shud also not be profit oriented!
Because the general consensus is bas doctor hi seva kare- chahe apni kidney bech kar hi kyun na.
Business is business.
Lawyers are lawyers.etc etc.
Lekin doctors have a moral obligation towards society, why? So they can beat the living sh*t out of us if sh*t hits the fan.
Unfortunately, corporate hospitals are charging huge sums of money from patients, but most doctors are just employees working day in and day out, doing everything by the book, yet we get blamed.

Money earned by charging an unreasonable amount to earn profits and that too when there is an emergency and no scope for negotiation.
We can choose lawyers as we seem fit because there is no immediate necessity and we can choose engineers who are cheap but efficient according to us. But the same logic doesn't apply to doctors. Doctors need to have higher ethical and moral codes. You have the right to earn profit but in a ethical manner both as medical professional and business man

You think it's unreasonable.
But you don't know the operating costs!
If you rent a shop as a doctor, the owner spontaneously charges a few thousands more than other shops!
YOU CAN CHOOSE DOCTOR IN EMERGENCY TOO! GO TO A GOVT HOSPITAL AND MED COLLEGE!
We spare fees to atleast 2 patients on an average daily. Does any1 look at that. Thats crores of rupees in a day if you count all doctors in India
We wave off even laks of rupees to many patients! But no one says HA DOCTOR NE 50 HAZAR NAI LIYE!
INFACT THEY'LL SAY MAINE BACHAYE!
We do have morals and ethics. Trust me more than any other profession, but what you expect is unreasonable
They not just bill expensive medicine for patient but also doesn't use them and give them back to the pharmacy

When Private medical colleges are literally charging crores from medical students no common people would come to question that, when the cut off of neet PG gets reduced to Zero marks literally anybody who attempted the exam can easily pay money and get into the PG course they would definitely expect returns if that's how it is,who is giving the private colleges that much Liberty to charge so much amount isn't it the govt but nobody even care about all these things 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you for emphasising such important issues in india actually..
This is half true. Healthcare in UK US is worse and way more costly than India. To get a specialist in US it takes almost 3-4 months if it's under insurance where as in India you can consult 10 specialist very same in way more less price.
Brother this doesn't work as you think you are comparing dollars to rupees but not seeing the person capita income in both of these countries compare to India.Yes if we convert their currency to rupees then heathcare is cheap in India for NRIs but for those who earn and live here then for them it is super expensive because income is extremely low in India as compared to US and UK.For eg an engineer with good experience in Australia earns around 100000 dollars which is equal to 55 lakh rupees and guy with same experience in India earns around 8-10 lakhs. If doctor charges 5 lakh rupees in India for treatment then the person earning in India will lose around 50% of his income whereas if same treatment in Australia costs around 10 lakh Indian rupees then the person earning in Australia will lose 20% of his income.

If you want free treatment, please go to government hospitals. Private hospitals exist to make profits. Doctors have a very small role to play in this. If a medicine is procured at ₹50, it won't be sold for the same price. When you go to a shop, do you get the products at wholesale rate or retail rate? Same concept applies here. Don't expect private hospitals to be Samaj Seva Kendras.
True. Government hospital mei hi treatment lo chae jo ho..and if not satisfied by the infrastructure..ask the government where is the money..going..ask health minister..
Nobody questions the government.
Thank you for your informative video. But nowadays doctors are also playing with insurance, they are admitting patients unnecessarily who are having insurance saying you will get rest and no need to pay from your side .This happened with one of my teachers who told us about it.

Over-privatization of any industry is dangerous. In America, low-income people can’t afford healthcare. The average cost of an abdomen ultrasound is around $750. In Canada, people must pay 43 - 47% of federal taxes for free education and healthcare from government facilities. We need more taxpayers, noncorrupt officers, and politicians.
