I'm not seeing anyone else talk about it, but the camera angles in this room are ace. with the angles you picked you can really SEE what your talking about. This felt fresh and awesome and a lot like what I wanted to see from this channel
I totally agree. This was my first time watching anything from this channel, and it was really great to get the different views. I also thought it was a great idea to put the camera mounted to the dummy's head.
Thank you for putting into words what some of us have noticed but not yet commented about - specifically, Skall's creative camera work and use of props when demoing. I've noticed his demos have grown particularly innovative over the last few years. It's a shame he hasn't been invited to show them in TV documentaries and such.
Agreed. This guy is one of the best when it comes to demoing this kind of stuff. He is thorough and he takes camera angles and lighting seriously, and is also pretty objective, logical and thorough in how he does things. Sure he doesn't cover everything in exhaustive detail but that would take way longer and could get tedious. He is well detailed but not boring. Very nice

The overhead view is such a great and elegant way of showing how you are getting your footage. It really helps the flow of the video that you don't have to explain that you're not threatening your camera operator.
This is one of my favorite videos you've put out in a while. Informative and easy to digest, with lots of visual aid to get across points and keep the video interesting. You should put out more like these, showing the strengths and weaknesses of other commonly seen weapons and war implements.
1st video in the new house, Awesome! You can already tell the difference and that shows how important this change is for skall's content. This must have been a real hard decision to make for him but boy does it feel worth it right now.
New place looks nice! Good points about shield use. Question tho: how much of a liability is a shield if the opponent grabs it? to both the shield user and the attacker?
If I remember historically, during one battle of Caeser and the Germans, his men got so tired of the German's blocking everything that they pulled the shields out of their hands
You look so... relieved in this video! You can even see it on the thumbnail. It has brought me back to your channel by itself (not to mention all the other stuff that also other people point out). I'm so happy for you, way to go!

I predict that hanging lamp in the top left corner of frame isn't going to live long with the amount of swordplay this new house will get.
As someone with a hanging lamp, literally everywhere in my apartment (safe for the bathroom), I second this.
Just wait until for some reason it isnt in the video anymore ;)
Doesn't even have to be sword play. Hanging lamps are a threat to simple daily activity. I have literally punched out a bulb putting on a shirt a bit too fast.

Same goes for shields, I reckon.
