    I just built this, but I'm curious, What's the purpose of the 20mm of filament in the bottom?

    • @electrosync
      @electrosync  2 года назад

      The little piece of filament is a makeshift spring to 'pop' the tongue out when you push the button. The arraignment is important to get it to work. I designed it this way, as it was simple and hardware-free.

  • @redstoneguy9248

  • @LandonCall
    @LandonCall 2 года назад +1

    I see that you very very briefly mention that you can change the color on the tongue but you don't say how or at what height. Is this something that should be obvious to those who have done it before?

    • @electrosync
      @electrosync  2 года назад +1

      Good question. I didn't provide details as it varies with slicing software and printer firmware. Using Cura I used pause at height scripts (M0 command for my firmware) at layers 10 and 15 to change the filament colour (you can see a screenshot of the script settings at 2:39 It's not too difficult to find where to change by previewing it in your slicer software and noting the layer numbers.

    For the layer heights, the printer at my college will only allow me to do 0.25mm and 0.18mm. Would I be able to print the parts with this setting or will it not work since the parts show 0.20mm and 0.12mm for the latch?

    • @electrosync
      @electrosync  2 года назад +1

      Hmm. I’d go with 0.18 for all the parts. You may need to do some sanding on the ramp part of the latch to make sure that it’s smooth. It should work though. Good luck!
