I once in a very low state in my life I wanted to take my life but I feared it would cut me off from God so I asked God to take me and in crying out to him I heard him clear as day that he was right by my side carrying me and would not let not any harm come to me.I’m so grateful to God. for what can separate us from the love of God according to the Scriptures nothing. but I also felt that if I would of take my life,I would not have be in good standings with God. I was told "It is not your life to take" and then "I gave you life you can not take it away". The Father gave me those words when I was about to take my life, I will never forget the voice with Power and Authority I knew who was speaking to me.
Why is everyone stuck on thinking because they can't repent of that sin they go to hell? People die everyday in accidents, murders, etc without ever getting the chance to ask the Lord for forgiveness for their sins from the past week or month. By that logic they go to hell as well. When Christ died it was for the sins of past, present and future of everyone. God knows how weak and evil we are just by our nature from birth. I have to believe His mercy's are greater then us humans can comprehend.

thank you so much for this, I'm not currently having suicidal thoughts, I researched this topic because I fear for my grandfather. He was an ordained baptist minister that had a brain tumor that was misdiagnosed as mental illness. My grandma had an affair and i fear he took his life for a multitude of reasons. This was back in 1980, before i was born so I'll never truly know :(

I understand that salvation through Christ is a must but with so many people that struggle on this earth and with mental illness the way it is for me helps explain the more compassionate side of Christ that there is a chance and another way than to end it. Very wise and truthful. We are either born again in spirit with the Holy Spirit inside sealing our salvation or we reject the Holy Spirit and Savior and condemn ourselves. Satan likes to get us to focus inward and make problems overwhelming. He loves to try to kill, steal, and destroy. We should know his tricks and not let Satan deceive us and get us to do dumb or destructive things. If we walk close to God we should fear NOTHING except displeasing or dishonoring God and His people intentionally. We make mistakes or sin, run to God not from Him. God is on our side always.

I decided not to, but I hope that those that have killed themselves will be saved. I have compassion for those who feel like they just can't take it anymore. I don't know if they would experience any less turmoil after they took their own life, but I hope they do. I fear that if I were to do it, whatever misery I have on this earth would be multiplied endlessly.
However Jesus died for all of our sins and if you have a repentant heart and you believe in the gospel then you will still go to heaven. Salvation is of the heart and not necessarily what you spoke to God in prayer. Otherwise people who can't talk would go straight to hell and that makes no sense at all.
Suicide is very tragic. While the hope of salvation of those who have travelled that path should never be lost, we should bear in mind that anyone thinking of taking their own life should never, ever choose that path because of the risk of hell that is involved with doing so.

I disagree with what you said about when Paul turned that christian over to the Devil. Paul didn't say, turn him over to the Devil to be cut off(which means killed). It was to bring him to repentance to save his soul, not to kill him, just like the story of Job. When we are living in sin, it opens doors in our lives and gives authority to the enemy and God will allow bad things to happen to bring us low and to repentance to save our souls.
I'm considering suicide I despise where I'm at in life and despise where I'm headed. I'm trying to reconcile myself with the lord but I just feel a deep void and I feel forsaken. I'm tormented everyday with with dark thoughts and I can't seem to find joy. All I feel is frustration, loneliness, disparity, fear and anger. I hate waking up in the mornings. I just want to go to sleep and not wake up. What's stops me is the grief that I will inflict on my mother.

I have thought of commiting suicide at least 4 times in my life (each time my father and I got into a fight). I had it all planned out. I didn't do it because I don't believe we should have the right to decide how long we live this life. That should be left to God and God alone. I have had things happen to me that should've killed me or at least left me paralyzed or worse. If God decided to let me live through all that's happened to me, who am I to take that decision away from Him?
The translation I am reviewing for this verse says "16 You surely know that you are like God's special house. As God's people, God's Spirit lives in you. 17 If anyone destroys God's special house, then God will destroy that person. And you are like that house. You belong to God in a special way."

It used to bother me when I read about David in the bible. He was a putrid man,murderer.homewrecker, betrayer an a all around sorry person an still he went to Heaven. Felt like I didnt wanna be in the same place with this man for an eternity! Didnt feel like he was worthy until I had a Profound Moment Of Clarity... He is the parable of Me.. My friend ended his life back in Nov of 2020. His wife and he were involved in a crash (not at fault) and his wife perished. He just couldn't deal with the pain and loss anymore. I'm not sure what his walk with the Lord was. I believe he was catholic. Anyway I know I would like to see him in heaven one day.
You have mentioned adultery, murder, etc as sins as well, but at least you have a chance to turn your life around before you die. What if you’re a sinner and committed suicide without remorse? So that would make suicide committing a sin up to the very last moment of your life?

Jesus said he will not forsake us EXCEPT IF we forsake him (compare Hebrews 13:5 and 2 Timothy 2:12). A Christian who commits that act forsakes his life but not neccesarely the Lord. I believe in Jesus death burial and resurrection for ALL of my sins. I trust in what Jesus has done for me. When I moved to Las Vegas and I had no job and knew NOBODY. I had a job here in Philly and a place to live, but I wanted to step out on faith and prove my faith in Jesus. So I went and moved to vegas with all obstacles against me and limited resources, but I went to vegas and I prayed and prayed on the train and when I went and found a job and a place to live within 3 weeks of living in Vegas. When times got hard I got to praying to Jesus and when times were great the prayers continued. Things worked out well for me until my father passed away and I moved back to my home city. But for that year and a half anything could have happened but I believe my faith in Jesus and the works that I did made that path work well. That is why I will ALWAYS give my heart to Jesus and call on the name of Jesus each and everyday because he is WORTHY now and forever. I would like to acknowledge my eternal lord and saviour Jesus Christ this morning.

Matthew 4:6&7, James 4:7, 1 Cor10:13...we are to be Overcomers, not Succumbers. Deliverance is needed. And mind renewal. 1 Cor 3:17 NIV argues against this. ..If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for God's temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. I read destroy Gods temple as suicide or deliberately taking ones live by premeditation. How can someone be saved when God promises to destroy those that kill themselves? At least thats how NIV reads.
I was asked that same question. I told the lady that asked me that. Will you go to hell if you die of a stomach virus. She said no then if you're mentally ill and killed yourself due to that whats the difference.
We cannot lose any reward. Salvation IS the reward. And even if that were true, it would be okay, because I've always been one of the least. I'd feel right at home.
Ive understood it this way from the start. Who are we to say that suicide or any other sin condemns a man? We can not weigh another persons sin. That is playing God. Even on a persons deathbed, an unsaved person, how do we know that God does not let life leave that persons body until they call out to the Lord? We don't. So I think people should stick with what scripture says instead of making assumptions.

All suicides going to hell never made sense to me. I mean 9/11 jumpers, people living in constant pain and anguish, people in the death camps and concentration camps. Surely there's no way a loving God wouldn't be understanding of this.

Any answer to this question other than " I don't know" is an OPINION . Only God knows our heart and the pain we are in physically and mentally and whether or not we are truly saved His Word says that NOTHING can take us away from His love. There isn't an except for or but listed there. HE SAID NOTHING ! For anyone to say that it is an unpardonable sin is playing the role of judge and jury when that isn't your right. God is our Judge.
My little sister shot herself. At the time I rose from bed and saw her dressed in white for a split second. About a week or two later I was called and informed by an investigator who told me about it.
I've argued for 30 years that obesity is a version of the unforgivable sin of suicide, where a person is willing to sacrifice their health every day instead of fasting. I recall one unknowledgeable Bible class teacher when I was a kid who thought Jesus fasting 40 days was a miracle because no one could fast that long. But in history, the longest medically supervised fast lasted 382 days. I've even known an unoverweight diabetic to fast for 40 days.
I am a compulsive overeater and I absolutely agree with you. I have major depression and I believe that is why I eat, I also believe in fasting ironically. Pray for me

For others, it's the result of deep depression, or losing hope. For the criminal, suicide will not help them, because Hell is forever. For the depressed and hopeless, there is always hope in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. Suicide is never a good answer, and a very poor way of escaping anything. Don't let your last earthly act be one that breaks one of God's commandments... "You shall not kill". Instead, call out to Jesus Christ, in times of need, and don't forget to thank Him for the good times.

well it's not like you can as for forgiveness when you're already dead. Attempted suicide yes, but when you are dead you can't come back (unless God says so).
Is it blasphemy to say you’re angered at god? Or that at times you confess to him that you hate him for some reason? But do so in a way that you are casting your own worries unto him? Or to Jesus Christ also?

I found my dad after he killed his self. Twenty two years later I found my sister after she killed herself. I hope that I get to see my sister again.

I have thought of commiting suicide at least 4 times in my life (each time my father and I got into a fight). I had it all planned out. I didn't do it because I don't believe we should have the right to decide how long we live this life. That should be left to God and God alone. I have had things happen to me that should've killed me or at least left me paralyzed or worse. If God decided to let me live through all that's happened to me, who am I to take that decision away from Him?

It used to bother me when I read about David in the bible. He was a putrid man,murderer.homewrecker, betrayer an a all around sorry person an still he went to Heaven. Felt like I didnt wanna be in the same place with this man for an eternity! Didnt feel like he was worthy until I had a Profound Moment Of Clarity... He is the parable of Me.. I have done most of those things an the ones I haven't I sure entertained the idea of doing it I promise ya! I not worthy ti gaze towards Heaven either but David is the assurance that when he says You Are Forgiven....he meant it!!!!

My friend ended his life back in Nov of 2020. His wife and he were involved in a crash (not at fault) and his wife perished. He just couldn't deal with the pain and loss anymore. I'm not sure what his walk with the Lord was. I believe he was catholic. Anyway I know I would like to see him in heaven one day.

You have mentioned adultery, murder, etc as sins as well, but at least you have a chance to turn your life around before you die. What if you’re a sinner and committed suicide without remorse? So that would make suicide committing a sin up to the very last moment of your life?

Even though I don't believe in eternal security any more, I wouldn'T say that suicide always damns a person and therefore agree with Michael. Jesus said he will not forsake us EXCEPT IF we forsake him (compare Hebrews 13:5 and 2 Timothy 2:12). A Christian who commits that act forsakes his life but not neccesarely the Lord. So we cannot know

I believe in Jesus death burial and resurrection for ALL of my sins. I trust in what Jesus has done for me. When I moved to Las Vegas and I had no job and knew NOBODY. I had a job here in Philly and a place to live, but I wanted to step out on faith and prove my faith in Jesus. So I went and moved to vegas with all obstacles against me and limited resources, but I went to vegas and I prayed and prayed on the train and when I went and found a job and a place to live within 3 weeks of living in Vegas. When times got hard I got to praying to Jesus and when times were great the prayers continued. Things worked out well for me until my father passed away and I moved back to my home city. But for that year and a half anything could have happened but I believe my faith in Jesus and the works that I did made that path work well. That is why I will ALWAYS give my heart to Jesus and call on the name of Jesus each and everyday because he is WORTHY now and forever. I would like to acknowledge my eternal lord and saviour Jesus Christ this morning.

How can one repent after committing suicide ? Suicide is self murder and God strictly forbids murder.

With that said, I mean absolutely no offense by this question and I ask it out of pure innocence but, I noticed at 2:45 in the video, you looked away from the camera while talking and when you looked back forward, your eyes returned to the camera at two completely separate times. 1 Cor 3:17 NIV argues against this. ..If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for God's temple is sacred, and you together are that temple. I read destroy Gods temple as suicide or deliberately taking ones live by premeditation. How can someone be saved when God promises to destroy those that kill themselves? At least thats how NIV reads.
I was asked that same question. I told the lady that asked me that. Will you go to hell if you die of a stomach virus. She said no then if you're mentally ill and killed yourself due to that whats the difference.
We cannot lose any reward. Salvation IS the reward.
And even if that were true, it would be okay, because I've always been one of the least. I'd feel right at home.
Ive understood it this way from the start. Who are we to say that suicide or any other sin condemns a man? We can not weigh another persons sin. That is playing God. Even on a persons deathbed, an unsaved person, how do we know that God does not let life leave that persons body until they call out to the Lord? We don't. So I think people should stick with what scripture says instead of making assumptions.

Not all killing is murder, and i've never read anywhere in the Bible where suicide was refered to as sinful that I remember.
Is committing suicide because he is happy, joyful, hopeful, faithful? Or is it because he is sad, and hopeless? I never herard someone commits suicide because he is happy.
All suicides going to hell never made sense to me. I mean 9/11 jumpers, people living in constant pain and anguish, people in the death camps and concentration camps. Surely there's no way a loving God wouldn't be understanding of this.

Any answer to this question other than " I don't know" is an OPINION . Only God knows our heart and the pain we are in physically and mentally and whether or not we are truly saved
His Word says that NOTHING can take us away from His love. There isn't an except for or but listed there. HE SAID NOTHING !

My little sister shot herself. At the time I rose from bed and saw her dressed in white for a split second. About a week or two later I was called and informed by an investigator who told me about it.

I've argued for 30 years that obesity is a version of the unforgivable sin of suicide, where a person is willing to sacrifice their health every day instead of fasting. I recall one unknowledgeable Bible class teacher when I was a kid who thought Jesus fasting 40 days was a miracle because no one could fast that long. But in history, the longest medically supervised fast lasted 382 days. I've even known an unoverweight diabetic to fast for 40 days.
I am a compulsive overeater and I absolutely agree with you. I have major depression and I believe that is why I eat, I also believe in fasting ironically. Pray for me

Suicide is the complete lack of faith, and the Bible says, without faith, it's impossible to please God. Some people think, suicide is a means of escaping a crime or a punishment. For others, it's the result of deep depression, or losing hope. For the criminal, suicide will not help them, because Hell is forever. For the depressed and hopeless, there is always hope in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Healer. Suicide is never a good answer, and a very poor way of escaping anything. Don't let your last earthly act be one that breaks one of God's commandments... "You shall not kill". Instead, call out to Jesus Christ, in times of need, and don't forget to thank Him for the good times.

Perhaps asking the right question will be of greater value: Does the sin of self-murder (suicide) fit in with what's written where it clearly stated that murderers will not enter into Heaven?
Because murder is a sin. But sins can be forgiven.
It does seem mighty hard to ask for forgiveness after you are dead. The next question would be, can a person repent of a sin before they commit it?
The sin is not completed until death at that point how is forgiveness requested maybe not unforgivable but if dead how to ask
well it's not like you can as for forgiveness when you're already dead. Attempted suicide yes, but when you are dead you can't come back (unless God says so).
