Product Review: SPES Back of the Head Protection

What it the function of two little tapes in front of it?

There are two velcro loops on the back to attach to the band on a standard fencing mask (to hold it in place)

Sorry Lee, I'm not sure exactly which you mean, on the back there are the loops to connect it to the elastic band on the rear of the fencing mask then there's two smaller velcro strips along the top to connect it to the 'tongue' on the top/back of the fencing mask (so you have three points of control to keep it from shifting). Hope that helps
