The A-10 I see or fly over my building in Towson MD which is drilling to hear and see! I was in the Air Force from 1962 to 1966. I worked in a hanger up in Newfoundland and were many guys who were machanics! I'm 83 now and I really like hearing about the aircraft now. I watch a lot of you tube about military! These are great men and women I think alot of.

I worked for PPG who produces virtually every military aircraft transparency at their Huntsville AL plant. PPG has a compressed air cannon there that fires chickens via compressed air at the transparencies to test them for impact resistance stimulating a bird strike!

If you really worked there you'd know the chickens are defrosted first...
I see you edited that out to cover your shame 😜

Dont be telling a Brit about Harrier. We innovated them, we worked out how to fly them, then we worked out how to perate them in air to ground and battlefield interdiction. We even fought them air to air at times out of need. That's some serious DACT especially against Rafale Mirage 2000s
We wrote the book. The US turned it into an undergrad module.

These phase inspections are routine maintenance for pretty much all aircraft, not just the A-10. Military aircraft operate under extreme conditions. Commercial aircraft don’t operate under the same circumstances but fly almost constantly daily. They get periodic maintenance after so many hours and then they get a C check after 18-24 months.

Its time to retire the a-10. It costs a fortune to maintain what is basically a 1970’s flying gatling gun

Does the fortune needed to maintain the aircraft cost more or less than the cost of a new F-35 or whatever airplane that would replace the A-10? If it’s my tax dollars, I’d rather go with the less expensive option…
