I was doing GCSE Math at College, predicted a level 4 (c) but got a level 5 (d). I worked very hard and knew I would achieve the level 4 if i had the chance to sit the exam, called everyone, they said theres nothing they can do but let me sit the exam. After i did that, got my level 4.
That's such an awful situation, I hope everything works out for you💜💜💜 I'm from Germany which is why I don't really get how they "calculated" your grades but it seems rather random and not very reliable to me...
Anna-Sophia yeah it seems like they accepted the teachers grades and then did some kind of postcode lottery to randomly pick poorer areas to downgrade:((( it’s just all on a computer and they didn’t think about the consequences :( but thank you!!
@@phegotflare that's so weird. In Germany everyone sat their exams. Normally they'd be corrected by 3 teachers but this year only 2 teachers corrected them but other than that and obviously social distancing and different exam dates, nothing much changed about the exam period. The few changes didn't really seem to affect the grades overall (although the definitely was an inequality of opportunity due to the different situations at home), so the grading system in England seems like one of the worst solutions possible.

I'd describe this year and the gov and the entire education system as if we're all on a train that keeps travelling at the same speed, suddenly there's an avalanche but the driver's like we'll be fine, and we keep travelling along as if nothing has happened when something DEFINITELY has happened.
I hope everything works out for you Phoenix. You deserve it. But anyway, congrats on the video, it‘s blown up so much it was on my families RUclips feed
Omg this is really unfortunate. I got my A-level results a few days back (I live in Asia). I’m actually surprised that lots of people got worse than their predicted grades in the UK. In my college, a lot of us got our predicted grades. Those who got lower than their predicted grades also got fairly good grades which are A’s or B’s. I wonder if your grades depend on which school you come from? My college is the one of the top 2 colleges in my country.
Yess! a lot of people are finding that downgrades are happening in poorer areas of the country, and schools with less high grades in previous years - but this doesn't seem fair to me since I had never received these low grades and they were lowered purely due to my postcode :(
Phegotflare Oh my gosh! That makes so much sense! My college is the second most expensive one in my country but very prestigious too. It’s unfortunate that this happened to you 😭😭 I’m so sorry!! I hope you’ll feel better now.
I‘m from Germany and although I was quite sceptical people had to sit their exams here, that seems to be the better solution. What even IS the UK system? 🤨 Here the exams are only 1/3 of the final grades anyway, how can they possibly give you grades for exams that never even happened? Our alternative solution would‘ve meant just taking the other 2/3 grades (which actually existed already, they didn‘t have to make them up).
I clicked on this because I was so angry on your behalf. Mate I just want to say to you, my brothers and I went to uni later, I took a gap year, my brother did an access course etc, He's now a PhD. My other brother didn't even go. I've lived in different countries, I speak Spanish fluently, and Chinese at intermediate level. If you are into Languages, and you're interested in Korea, there will be a way for you. It is a highly specialised skill and the most important thing in a student is interest and determination. I strongly recommend, if you don't get in, look at other options. There will be scholarships there to study in the Summer for example, and if you qualified as a tefl teacher during a summer at uni, or take English teaching jobs, you can find a way to live there and study there. Don't let results day push you around. You're clearly intelligent, you're young, and Asian languages are difficult for westerners and the English speaking world is notoriously monoglot. Look for scholarships, make calls, ask advice. Showing engagement and interest sets you apart at a young age. You have time and you can do it. Even if you did another degree, you could easily get a job teaching there and learn. Most people in the UK never realise the huge opportunities available out there simply by virtue of having English as your mother tongue and being from the UK. -get in touch with the department, ask about the possibility of transfer- ask how high your level of Korean would have to be to transfer to Sheffield -start learning Korean. Use ANKI, and PIMSLEUR (find it for free at a library) and use LINGQ (google it). Watch you tubers who learn Korean. -Consider a gap year studying in Korea, or working in some program. I know corona makes this unlikely. -Contact the people in charge of the course. - Lastly, I know it sounds stupid, but please don't worry. You're young and even when you graduate, there are so many resources. Even in the worst case scenario of not studying Korean at your chosen university you can still research scholarships and programs to go to Korea in the summer, work at summer camps etc. The very best of luck to you.

I said it once and I’ll say it again, a levels is a scam
My son just got his GCSE grades and I believe it's the teacher assessed grades,, and the teachers are spot on. You could have applied for the same degree with a foundation year at University of Sheffield as a plan B option. This way your accommodation wouldn't have been cancelled, and you wouldn't have had to go through all this stress. Your grades are still good enough to do the same degree with a foundation year with your chosen University. If they have this option! I felt very sorry for your dreading tears, the system seems unfair. Last year there were a higher number of A level students who were upset with their results. I’m really nervous for my GCSE results because in my mocks I got a 3 in maths in my mock but I was very close to a 4. I’ve read that they are deciding grades based on the area you live in and my school is in quite a poor area. I just don’t think it’s fair that students aren’t getting the grades they deserve. The way the A Levels went was so unfair !! My GCSE results are tomorrow and I’m petrified! I hope it gets fixed for you 💛
I’m sitting my first exam in 18 days. Totally unprepared, stressed and hating a levels. My insurance is Lincoln so I’ll probably go there but damn it hurts to see yourself fail. Hope you’re doing better
APPEAL FOR IT BOO🥰🥰🥰
Taz Ox i ammm❤️❤️ thank youuu
IM SO STRESSED GETTING MINE TOM
I had your video recommended to me! I'm a mum in new Zealand and my son will be starting IGCSE next year and then a levels and I'm gutted so much for all of you and everything you are all going through! It makes me so so so angry for you all!
thank you so much :( I hope your sons igcse and a level experience is a lot better than what this years students have gone through in the uk!
@@phegotflare you are so so welcome! i hope things get better for you hun and you can get a solution!
Good luck I really hope your grades change I look forward to seeing how the u turn thing effects it. I’m terrified for next year for mine to see what happens
I'm so worried for the year 12 students, it's going to be so difficult for you guys, but you've got this!! thank youuu
From a person who gets c and maybe b some times getting b s are so good like I would take a b any day of the week (plus u can get into college with b and c like chill) if it's uni I could understand. It's hard ! But your amazing and don't let it get you down !
I got messed up by the system as well! I got downgraded both my A* to an A (vid on my channel) which meant I almost missed out on going to Cambridge!! Honestly thank god that they have now changed the way grades are assessed. So hopefully all you guys get the grades you need! But by far its been the most unfair situation I've gone through so far. Subbed for the journey ahead :)
thank you so much for the sub🥺 i'm so glad you can get where you want now!!
Don't worry loads of people in the background such as myself are putting huge pressure on the government - williamson has to resign the slimey snake
Aww so sad :( hope everything is going well for you now
That's such an awful situation, I hope everything works out for you💜💜💜 I'm from Germany which is why I don't really get how they "calculated" your grades but it seems rather random and not very reliable to me...
Anna-Sophia yeah it definitely was :( and now i can chose to do retakes in october but i stopped the course in march so it would be almost impossible to get a better grade then
awfulll situation:( hope it all works out for you!! what’s plan B, like are you gonna go to your insurance uni instead?
Aylin thank you so much!! i’m not sure :( possibly go to my insurance at UCLAN or try and get onto the course for next year at sheffield, i’m really just praying i can get on once the grades have been appealed since i was so set on the course ☹️
@@phegotflare Also remember you can take a gap year!! A nice way to reflect on all your years of previous schooling, prepares you for uni and you could probably travel later in the year! Then once the government have handed out the new predicted grades, you can reapply to Sheffield! x
i feel u guys pain but we finally getting predicted grades yay
i’m so so sorry, this situation sucks so much :( xx
so many people are in the same situation which makes it even worse :((( i'm so sorry about yours too Xx
Let's hope that the rework and our teacher predictions are alot nicer to us. I'm getting me GCSE results on Thursday and from the announcement I'm not panicking as much anymore
My teacher was a bitch, he predicted me a B even though I was getting at least a B in my exams all year and I was a mark or two off an A in my AS and did so many extra curricular things on the side.
@@treasanic6427 well that's bs. If you see your teacher and she gives you a shit grade, tell her. Shout at her, you don't go to that school anymore lol. 😂 Good luck in your other subjects anyway
Mrfantastic XX I’m kinda annoyed bc in economics I got a B and he said that I could get an A in it at parent teacher evening and I did so much extra curricular, luckily I had an unconditional offer but I’m still annoyed at him and last year I was a few marks off an A in AS so I’m going into school on Thursday to see what happens
good luck guys!!!
I was predicted A* AB on my birthday!!! and I got 3Bs.. I'm so glad they're reconsidering everything
oh nooo! i hope it all works out for you ! xx
I really hope that you've now got your rightful grades now that we're getting predicted grades
thank you
Me, an American, not understanding how your schooling system works: 😭😭😭 Aw Phe!!! I hope everything works out alright! Love you! 💜💜💜
Thank you so much, even as a British person i don't get it 🤣 love you too💗
Since about 3 or 4 years ago they now grade it from 1 - 9 instead of A - E. Makes no sense imo cos if the old system was working why change it?
hope your results have been changed to the correct ones now
thank you
I SAW YOUR LIBRE YOU'RE A DIABETIC TOO WHOS GONNA STUDY KOREAN STUDIES AT SHEFFIELD?? youre like me except one year older haha. Sorry I hardly ever see people who also has a libre and not many people recognise it for what it is soo yes i get excited over this. so glad i found this channel
omg really!! everytime i find someone else that’s diabetic i get really excited hahahah, and that’s so cool that you’re gonna be coming next year aswell as being diabetic!! ♡
@@phegotflare Yea!! I want to study music and korean studies. Annoyingly enough it was a last minute decision so I have to now do grade 8 practical because I didn't do a level music. Korean studies seems so interesting though! I'm learning korean (slowly) so that I'm not totally lost if I manage to go. Funnily enough theres actually 3 diabetic people in my year, but when I see people outsude of school I get really excited
yeahhh i get you 🤣 and oh that’s still cool tho! i’m sure the practical will be fine and then be even more rewarding when you get to do this course 😊😊
I hope you’ve been able to go to your uni now that the government have backtracked. Well done!
I hope everyone got the results they needed/deserved. I'm hoping to start vlogging my uni journey
watching this now because our school said they think theres going to be loads of wring grades this year 😬
Omg, I was watching this because I literally am in the same boat as you with my a level results and then i clicked your video and I hear Watermelon Sugar omgg
aw i'm sorry about your results - and yes harry styles🥺
@@phegotflare Same for you, honestly. Hope the U-turn meant your grades were ones you were happy with!♥
I'd describe this year and the gov and the entire education system as if we're all on a train that keeps travelling at the same speed, suddenly there's an avalanche but the driver's like we'll be fine, and we keep travelling along as if nothing has happened when something DEFINITELY has happened.
This makes me so nervous for this year
I hope everything works out for you Phoenix. You deserve it. But anyway, congrats on the video, it‘s blown up so much it was on my families RUclips feed
wow that's insane !! thank you so much Bekah!
Jane Tan thank you 😪
This is so sad, I hope it works out well for you.
thank you
I‘m from Germany and although I was quite sceptical people had to sit their exams here, that seems to be the better solution. What even IS the UK system? 🤨 Here the exams are only 1/3 of the final grades anyway, how can they possibly give you grades for exams that never even happened? Our alternative solution would‘ve meant just taking the other 2/3 grades (which actually existed already, they didn‘t have to make them up).
yeah thats what people expected them to go off but mine are lower than those other grades so it really doesnt make sense :((
I clicked on this because I was so angry on your behalf.
-get in touch with the department, ask about the possibility of transfer- ask how high your level of Korean would have to be to transfer to Sheffield
-start learning Korean. Use ANKI, and PIMSLEUR (find it for free at a library) and use LINGQ (google it). Watch you tubers who learn Korean.
-Consider a gap year studying in Korea, or working in some program. I know corona makes this unlikely.
-Contact the people in charge of the course.
-
Lastly, I know it sounds stupid, but please don't worry. You're young and even when you graduate, there are so many resources. Even in the worst case scenario of not studying Korean at your chosen university you can still research scholarships and programs to go to Korea in the summer, work at summer camps etc.
The very best of luck to you.
wow there’s so much good advice here, thank you so much this means so much 🥰
I’m so sorry this has happened. I was rejected from my firm uni too but luckily I was accepted into my insurance at warwick.I was predicted A*AB and I got ABD it sucks. I hope it works out for you :(
oh wow that's such a bad downgrade, i'm so sorry :( Its good that you're still happy to attend your insurance tho - i hope you can do something about those grades!!
I was predicted A*A*A and got ABB before my school appealed for me and only got AAB. Like it’s tough cuz I paid a lot to move and study in the Uk for 2 years and then got this unfairness for not being able to go to a uni I dreamt on going for like 4 years. I said it once and I’ll say it again, a levels is a scam
anyone any idea how the eton and harrow toffs got on ,,does money still talk ??????????
Everyone got their grades 😴😴
I'm sorry you had to go through that❤
☹️ thank you x
My son just got his GCSE grades and I believe it's the teacher assessed grades,, and the teachers are spot on. It is the grades we expected although I know he could have got 1 grade higher in three subjects if he sat the exams. Cause that is what happened to my other children they did better in real exam then mocks
yeahhh i always do better in exams so it's really sad that we've fallen into this year group but i'm glad your son got the grades you expected minus exams !! x
@@phegotflare Thank you
Thanks for the motivation to not be stupid xoxoxo.
You didn't gain anything from commenting this. Smarter people really are stuck up and lack empathy.

i was predicted A*AB and got BAD (A* to B and B to D) but Im so glad that we can use teacher grades now jerhgern
I've tried to pass my Maths GCSE three times, before the lockdown I was told I was going to get my predicted grade of a C but on results day thanks to the Government and their U-turn change I got a D, so I have to try yet again.
I just don't understand why the Government felt like they needed to make this change and take away so many people's hope of getting the results that they wanted.
that sucks so bad, im sorry
@@phegotflare Thank you, but looks like a large number of us got screwed over by the Government since there are many making complaints about what has happened
I got all three of my grades downgraded and because of that my firm and insurance don’t want me and my ucas points are too low that I can’t apply through clearing so now I have to do a foundation year whilst all my friends go off to uni :(
ohh no!! i'm so sorry thats so unfair that you've had to completely change your plans, are you appealing?
Phegotflare yeah I’m going to appeal to get my grades up but clearing is now closed for most of the unis I wanna go so it won’t really make a difference and I’m still going to have to do a foundation year :(
Hope your ok xx
Wouldn’t worry too much I got E E D lol
my results day are in a few hours i’m so scared will i get into sixth form ? i will be starting year 12 and i’m terrified!!! 😭
hope u did well
You could have applied for the same degree with a foundation year at University of Sheffield as a plan B option. Gavin Williamson had made the system unfair last year. I wish you all the best with your grades appeal, hope it all works out for you in the end. I'm glad I'm taking an Access course as a mature student. I don't like the structure for GCSEs and Alevels. Just stay blessed!🙂
worst thing is my teachers predicted me aaa with an a in epq and i got abb with an a in epq and i was one of the lucky ones
yeah exactly! how are you a lucky one when you've still been downgraded once - they shouldn't have downgraded anyone
I’m also worried about my music grade because I actually sat my music exam and completed the coursework but I’m now worried that they won’t give me a grade based on that. 😪😭😓
i have my fingers crossed for you and everyone getting their gcse results!! hopefully the outrage from a level results will help with the fairness of gcses
I did a btec and still did all my work so I didn’t get a predicted grade, but I feel so sorry for those doing a levels :((
Relatable. This was literally me
aw :(
youll be good theyre sscrapping the algorithm
yeah :)
Why don’t they just accept or reject students?? This would have saved so much time if they did this
the fucking system is so messed up. its different here living in Scotland and the SQA and that but similar things happened here.
Schools don’t understand that for almost all students, tests are life
I’m homeschooled starting from September last year and I was going to do gcse exams as an external candidate and I’m not even able to get grades so I have nothing! 😭
omg !! i didn't even think about someone in your position! that's terrible, i'm so sorry x
I got rejected from both my firm and insurance. You know that your are better than this. This grades don’t define u.
I'm so sorry :(( you're very right x

DONT DWELL! There's been a U turn. Yasszss
😁
H A what does that mean
@@mg6781 Government announced a U turn in England so instead of the algorithm all a level and GCSE students will get their teacher predicted grades instead. 🎉🎉🥳.
They also said if you was given a higher grade from the algorithm than what the teachers predicted. E.g. for me I was predicted A*AA but Ofqual gave me A*A*A, then you can keep the higher grade. So, I can keep the 2A* and an A.
Congratulations 🥳 🥳🥳🥳🎂🎂🎂🎂
