    This was exactly how I was feeling when I woke up and logged into UCAS to see I didn't meet the grades for Imperial College (A*A*A) I also felt like my hardwork was for nothing. I got into my insurance tho, so took time for me to accept and realise it's a new path!

But as you said, God opens another door when He closes one and I ended up at my insurance uni but acc prefer it (realised I had only put my first choice one down due ot my parents wanting me to go there, I had acc wanted the insurance which I am going to now)- good luck and well done!!

    This was such a relatable vid bro, I had THE SAME experience even reaction to my grades, fully broke out crying straight away when I opened the email. Not because I didn’t get in to my firm or insurance but just because I worked so hard so that I could finally relax only to be put back into an even more stressful position than the A Level exams themselves. But yeah I’ve come to terms with everything now and I will be going to the Uni of Surrey this sept to study the course that I wanted and better yet my best friend will also be studying there with me (WHEN I HEARD SHE WOULD ALSO BE STUDYING THERE WE BOTH CRIED HAPPY TEARS :)), so all in all guys it does work out in the end and there will always be positives and negatives of each route/ possibility. Good luck with everything! 😊

    That thing about rejection being redirection is so true yk. I was also rejected from UoM when I was getting my results in 2020, was so disappointed and embarassed at the time so decided to do foundation year for my course somewhere else and came back way stronger - I had an offer from King’s after applying for universities again after doing foundation year which I would’ve had no chance of getting during my original A-Levels run, I didn’t take it because UoM was still the one I wanted but it was crazy that I was offered a place. The second time around I also didn’t even need to interview for UoM again, whereas the first time I did, I figured it’s cos they knew I’d firm them the first time and would firm them the second time too. Now I’m still in UoM doing the course I wanted to and no regrets about how things turned out, glad everything worked out for you too, God’s plan is his own and we might be skeptical of it at first but it will be for the best in the end.

    hi, i also sat my alevels last year i got BDD in my alevels. i could have done a foundation year and moved out but i wasnt ready and didnt entirely know what to study just yet. so i chose to retake two of my alevels maths and bio privately all on my own as my school didnt allow us to retake year 13 . looking back i should have rang sixthforms and colleges to see if they would take me in. i had a plan but it failed miserably. I should have looked after my mental health more. however, as much as i regret taking this gap year it was still a good experience, i met new people, worked at various places, learned how to drive hopefully i pass this summer.. but i neglected the whole point of my gap year which was to do well on my resits. i now have less than 3 weeks till my exams and im in the same situation i was last year. i will work hard till the end but realistically ill probably have to do a foundation year or an access course as i mentally cannot go through another year of alevels. If you are planning on resitting or taking a gap year have a plan and start as soon as u can a little every day is better than cramming everything. plus its a gap year so enjoy your self and dont compare yourself to your friends at uni u will get your time to shine even if it takes you a year or 2 longer than everyone else. lots of people change courses or chose to do something else so its okay take this time to think about what u actually want to do and explore. live your life on your own pace.

      Hey girl, I'm in a very similar boat tbf. I took a gap year to retake an A Level and did not focus enough on revision etc. Procrastination is horrible and although we may regret it, it's taught us a lesson to buckle down and focus on ourselves and our future! Whatever happens, we are still so young and have our whole lives to gain experience and make mistakes! Everything will work out for you in the end I'm sure :)

I promise u as long as u get a passing grade that’s all that matters ( however, I’m not saying you should settle for less) just make sure you don’t burn yourself out because one day, u will look back at ur GCSES, A-Levels etc… and realise it was an obstacle that u had to face at one moment at time and it will pass and that there was no point stressing over it. • @eartheatingangel
      @eartheatingangel 10 месяцев назад +4

      Student who took A Level History here. If your institution is enrolled in AQA, then you’ll do two papers worth 40% each and an NEA worth 20% of your grade. From my experience of this, it is certainly very different. There is much more to learn as one paper will focus on more details than the time period, whereas the other paper focuses on a much bigger time period however less of the detail. There is more specified knowledge rather than just historical dates, such as key individuals and the impact of an event. So there is definitely a jump in the amount you have to learn. Questions are also much harder but I think you’ll get the hang of it almost immediately. They’re much longer, and source/extract questions are very different from GCSE. The NEA is also very different from anything you will have done before, but it helps to prepare you for any future endeavours in your academic life. I would totally recommend it if you are interested in a career in Humanities, or a degree that entails lots of research and writing. I found the NEA assisted a lot in giving me a better grasp of deadlines and how to structure an essay at almost degree level. I hope that helps!

    • @lmaoaims
      @lmaoaims  10 месяцев назад +6

      Hey so as someone who took history at GCSE I found it to be quite a big jump to A level. Naturally history is quite content heavy and in A level not only do you have two essay based exams but also a NEA (Non examined Assessment) which for me was 3,500-4,500 words; I recieved an A for my coursework, but personally I think this is because the topic itself was interesting and I find that I’m better at coursework than exams. Nevertheless this isn’t to discourage you from taking history at A-level if you really want to, but just be prepared.
