After succeeding in a "two-player nuzlocke" with JaidenAnimations a few months ago, I was itching to attempt another Pokémon nuzlocke. In fact, I have been binge watching Jan's content recently on Pokemon Challenges, but I needed to do something myself. Watching him yell at RTGame, Mizkif, and Xqc simply wasn't enough for me anymore.
Fortunately, an idea came to me while hosting (and winning) "Alpharad's Pokémon Unite Awesome Invitational" tournament with some amazing creators beside me: Captain Kidd, Atrioc, Ovilee May, and Cybertron. After the success of that tournament while conquering Wolfe Glick's team in the finals, I had the perfect idea... but first, I had to pull Cybertron and Captain Kidd from my team, steal WolfeyVGC from the enemy team, and then ask WeegeeTheGod to join because he is my friend. I was set out to attempt the first ever nuzlocke (that I know of) for Pokémon Unite.
We started with Machamp, Charizard, Slowbro, Pikachu, and Venusaur. If we lost a single match, those characters would be gone forever. Given that I only know how to play 3 Pokémon in this game... I knew that I had one insane challenge ahead of me.

I initially thought that this meant "If I die, I can't use that pokemon again" and not "If I lose, I can't use that pokemon again" and up until the ten minute mark I thought that Jacob's god luck had saved him for like 20 games in a row. Also, banger editing. This felt like a feature length film except without the length or the film and it is just **feature** but like really fucking good.

As someone who’s brute forced their way into master rank with several alts while one tricking some of the worst pokemon in the game, I can confidently say that you’d have to be a complete masochist to do any challenge run in this game while playing in solo q.
Top ultra rank/low master rank is a special kind of hell. Even more than mid/top ranked masters.
I teamed up with a crew of great ball players who were better than the ultra ball players i kept getting paired with.
Alpharad you know PC is gonna come at you with the run critique soon. Cannot wait to see his reaction.
Does PC even do Unite? I could still see him doing it for the memes.

I think the actual impossible variant is where you play by standard nuzlocke rules and lose a Pokemon whenever it dies in game.
I love the idea of trying to do Nuzlockes in games other than the regular Pokemon games, but still don't normally include permadeath options.

@@dazcarrr Well, I excluded those because they already come with, and are meant to be played with, unit permadeath options. In other words: a Nuzlocke. So that's already what they are, unless you're deliberately playing with these options turned off.

I’m currently doing a Soul Link of Shield because of your antics and you’ve accidentally gotten me to love Galar. Having that extra ton of anxiety does wonders for a journey. So thank you for inspiring this horrific journey, it’s actually been a blast!
Also I’m playing through negative colors and the game feels post-apocalyptic, which just makes everything better. Circhester’s Gym straight-up looked like Sheol, which did NOT help my Lapras-based fears one bit.
I’d also like to pour one out to Centiskorch for looking absolutely sick in Negative.
I can attest to said Soul Link being a hellscape (despite only having 2 deaths thus far)

Soul links are painful; me and a friend are currently doing a soul link of b2w2 and after 21 runs we finally made it to the elite four

Solo queueing in this game is actual hell, especially after you bump into the 9th Decidueye who tries to melee and dies instantly because his health is about as much as the wild pokemon

The OST's of Awakening-Fates-Echoes-3H are all incredible, there's some good older FE music but in the recent games they've really started becoming amazing overall up there with the likes of Xenoblade or Persona for godlike OST's

@@ponzischeme4298 solo queue on one loss would have been unbearable, especially with random character picks. Almost every pokemon survived because of two lives but i think the snowballing with one life wouldve killed the run

It's more base do how he talks about reviewing others nuzlocke videos as a teaching tool for the audience. Since his main audience is pkmn players and not Unite/League players, it'll just be funny to see.
I'd love to see a react video, just because he's got a good eye, and Alpharad is also good at editing (or at least guiding his editor is he has one) his videos in general.

This was an emotional journey i cried over 3 times watching this the friends dying the tragedy is overwhelming
Have you tried Blaze Kick Cinderace? It's quite powerful as you can reposition very well with it and get out of some sticky situations, but the damage comes from rapid pressing the A button which I understand could be quite unfun but Blaze Kick is still super powerful with its utility. Also a few jungling things: if you farm efficiently enough you should have your unite move before first drednaw. Three jungle rotations is most probably enough to get you level 9. The rotation goes like 1st jungle > pick a lane to help > go back to jungle after helping team secure 1st bees and hopefully getting a few kills > 2nd jungle spawns where you'll hopefully have your level 7 power spike > repeat second step > try to get kills but don't die > help team when bees spawn > 3rd jungle spawns. This is probably a bad explanation of the jungler role and that you probably already knew this but I hope this helps somehow!
I definitely thought of this a while ago during like season 2. I did it and it did not end well because of my lack of friends. After like 6-7 accounts I did it in season 4 with the deaths at a minimal. Absol, slowbro, blissy, jigglypuff, and cinderace are the only ones who feel victim, two because of zap and three because of bad/afk players.
You made the game look so easy with a team of people you can talk to and cordinate with, instead of having every kid just run straight at a hoard of 3 opponents by themself.
Also can I just say Zapdos is WAY too OP. It is almost an insta-win if the team gets to the goals on time.

Alternatively, the nuzlocke could be getting to master without your Pokémon fainting, BUT you can lose. Like if your Pokémon faints once in a given battle, you continue the battle to completion but after that you can no longer use the Pokémon. So it becomes a toss up of trying to help your team, but running when danger comes and buffering teammates so everyone has a chance to heal, but you can still hold position. Also a risk/reward of potentially winning a key match, but forfeiting a Pokémon to do so.
