excellent timing, I received my 6x8 back 5 days ago and this was helpful. Not much different from my other 120 backs, the motorised bit threw me off.

Very cool, my local lab helped me out on the scans since they are bit larger. Glad it was helpful!

Can it work without batteries, kinda manually like the non motorized one?

Josh, I don’t think so. Although there is a winding knob on top. (Never tried doing that) It’s amazing how well the motor works.

What’s annoying about the 6x8 back is that most of the opening of rb67 is still 6x7, so the 6x8 film back really is a waste of film, where you’ll only get 9 shots out of a roll instead of 10

Yes I agree. When I bought it, it came with that film back.

Its even worse than that. Yeah, you either need a proSD body or a pros that has had a 6x8 baffle put in (extremely rare but exists), but the main issue is that only some of the lenses have good enough coverage for 6x8. The 50mm for example, is one of the ones where im pretty sure the corners are just barely in the image circle for 6x8, so they would be pretty poor in image quality.

Yes true, it came with the back. Eventually I will get a 6x7 back.

If I put in a 220 film, do I have to change a setting or something on the back? Thanks!

      Tom,
I’ve never tried it. I will have to take a look. Maybe the mask in the back can be changed?

Tom, found the manual online, you can rotate the mask inside from 120mm to 220mm.
      Selecting the pressure plate position
This film holder can use 120 or 220 roll film. In accordance with the film type used, the pressure plate position differs, neces- sitating the position selecting procedure. As per the following steps, select the pres- sure plate position so that ti aligns with the same numeral (120 or 220) as that of the film type used.

Why your 1st frame is in red?

@@paulpiasecki yes in the frame count window. As I know, it marks red when exposure is done
