I've been a Director of Photography for 25 years. Building a visual language for clients to tell their story is my specialty. I love creating with cameras, lenses and lighting making artistic technical decisions related to the image to interpret a script in order to design a cinematic style. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I'm also a huge photography enthusiast and create images with old film cameras, vintage lenses and shoot with the latest digital cameras. I shoot portraits, vintage vehicles and unique environments.

Can I turn my friend into this famous Hemingway Portrait?
I take on the challenge of recreating this famous Yousuf Karsh Hemingway portrait in my studio. My Friend Joe has entered the Hemingway. "Look-a-Like" contest in Key West Florida years ago. This was a challenge to get the lighting as close as the master photographers look and feel. Watch as we make the attempt!

Just picked this up from Japan. A mint condition camera. Very curious how this will perform in the near future. I wanted a somewhat more portable camera, although its definitely Texas sized! More video on it to come soon. More Info: My Website: www.fusemediaworks.com paulpiasecki?hl=en paulpiasecki/ Twitter "X" pmpiasecki/ Business Inquires: Email: info@fusemediaworks...
Taking a look at the Cine'- Kodak Eight Model 60 Motion Picture Camera.

I pulled this oldie off the shelf to take a closer look at this popular motion picture camera from the mid 1930's to early the early 1940's. Bringing cameras to the masses and using pre-rolled, Kodakchrome film spools. Fuse Mediaworks, LLC, came into existence in 2020, founded by Paul, a skilled videographer and professional photographer. Bokeh? Possible to view the Bokeh also?
Hello, No it doesn’t, it’s a quality piece of glass, but it only puts an internal mask inside the viewfinder with the various ratios and it can zoom to see the focal lengths.
@@paulpiasecki thanks for replying...
The lighting Karsh used was probably a modified Rambrandt using just a single bare Tungsten light most probably with a fresnel as the main ( you can see the concentrated hotspot on the forehead) and probably a couple of smaller ones to light up from the rear. I doubt very much if he used a beauty dish or strips of any sort. He also used 8X10 camera which gave him great amount of latitude in his interpretaion of the negative. Your results are close, but sadly no cigar.
I used the equipment I had available. This was all in good fun.
@@paulpiasecki Absolutely, my comment was not meant as a criticism. What is photography after all if couldn't have fun with it?
Cool camera, I have the bigger brother the Cine - Kodak Model K 16mm and a Cine-Kodak Reliant 8mm because I can control the fps on that one. It'll be nice to see you doing some bts loading, metering, shooting and post the video.
Hello, Very cool, I loved 16mm back in the day. This particular film is available, bit the lens on this camera is questionable. I believe its fogged, I tried to clean it. I have other camera to look at that I will get to shoot with and post the results.
I think this would work? www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/927375-REG/foma_411801_fomapan_r100_2x_standard.html
So interesting.👍
😁🙏🏻🙏🏻
where do you get film for this camera?
B&H has this film.
@@paulpiasecki Oh, cool! Do you have a link? I can’t seem to find it on their website.
😂😂😂
Interesting looking rig. Never saw one quite like that. Great video, as always. I'm also here to help the algorithm. So in conclusion I would just like to say "I am Robelar from Mars, and I eat Earth candy bars..." Thank you.
OMG Doug! So glad to hear from you! Ha ha that commercial😂

Great job with the pocket 3! Did you shoot d-log? Looks terrific!
Dan, Yes I did, did a basic color pass, I think I have to bring the sharpness down a bit more too.
Awesome! Keep up the good work! 🤩
Thank you!

120 film, not 120mm :)
😁👍🏻
What’s annoying about the 6x8 back is that most of the opening of rb67 is still 6x7, so the 6x8 film back really is a waste of film, where you’ll only get 9 shots out of a roll instead of 10
Yes I agree. When I bought it, it came with that film back.
Its even worse than that. Yeah, you either need a proSD body or a pros that has had a 6x8 baffle put in (extremely rare but exists), but the main issue is that only some of the lenses have good enough coverage for 6x8. The 50mm for example, is one of the ones where im pretty sure the corners are just barely in the image circle for 6x8, so they would be pretty poor in image quality.
Yes true, it came with the back. Eventually I will get a 6x7 back.
Why your 1st frame is in red?
In the film cartridge?
@@paulpiasecki yes in the frame count window. As I know, it marks red when exposure is done
The thing to remember is that this is really the 1st real camera bag designed by working photographers. Because it's canvas, you could easily use a wax based waterproofing product such as Sno Seal or an easy to apply spray such as NikWax. These hold up very well. The basic design works well enough that it has pretty much stayed exactly the same since 1976.
Thanks Tom for this insight!

Ha I know! So the noise of the click and the lines lined up gets you synced in the film editing machines back then either a moviolas or Steenbeck editing machines.
This is super interesting but got cut off 😢 lol
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hi
Woo Hoo!!!
You are the first person I've seen not putting it on the ground to clip open. While more difficult to clip open while holding it the air, im glad to see that it is possible. Thank you.
Ha Yes, other people mentioned I did it the hard way. The first time I opened it was on camera.
Hey Paul I received my unit. Just FYI, you are opening it the hard way! Unclip the other side first. Then clip the side you did. Then reclip the side you unclipped. I have a physical disability and when doing it the correct way it’s easy!
Lucy, Yes! You're right, I figured it out after I shot the video. 🙂
Did they extend the fabric with the velcro so that it's easier to close?
Hello, It's designed a bit differently. The biggest change is that it lays flat in the bag, I would say its easier to close.
Thank you for video
Your welcome!
Can it work without batteries, kinda manually like the non motorized one?
Josh, I don’t think so. Although there is a winding knob on top. (Never tried doing that) It’s amazing how well the motor works.
So interesting!
If I put in a 220 film, do I have to change a setting or something on the back? Thanks!
Tom, I’ve never tried it. I will have to take a look. Maybe the mask in the back can be changed?
Tom, found the manual online, you can rotate the mask inside from 120mm to 220mm. Selecting the pressure plate position This film holder can use 120 or 220 roll film. In accordance with the film type used, the pressure plate position differs, neces- sitating the position selecting procedure. As per the following steps, select the pres- sure plate position so that ti aligns with the same numeral (120 or 220) as that of the film type used.
excellent timing, I received my 6x8 back 5 days ago and this was helpful. Not much different from my other 120 backs, the motorised bit threw me off.
Very cool, my local lab helped me out on the scans since they are bit larger. Glad it was helpful!
i didn’t know the RB had so many cool accessories! cool video!
Thanks so much Benjamin!

Thanks a lot Paul for such an interesting review! Awesome results here :)
Thank you!

Thank You!
Great work!
Many Thanks !!
Hey, I just wanted to say it's awesome that youve been able to work within your passion for so long and I was curious would you ever consider making a series kind of giving advice to aspiring cinematographers and or photographers?. Either on a technical level or even just the aspects of your side of the industry that may not be well known?. ( even just your personal experiences I imagine with your longevity would be captivating to hear ) Congrats again on your career and hope your day goes well.
Jose, That's a great idea, I will do that! I really want to give back which I do locally when I talk to younger people in the industry. I'm ramping up this channel so that will be a great way to create some thought provoking content. Stay tuned and thanks!
Looks awesome! Super cool style and design!
Thank you!
What is the name of the father, the man on the right in this video? Thank you.
Hello, sorry I don’t remember, worked with him for a few hours that day many months ago.
Thank you,@@paulpiasecki He looks so familiar to me. And thanks for that video. So well made, and especially appreciated at a time when I shake my head at most commercials, unable to identify a product or any connection between the commercial and a product.
