Was a top ten single in Europe, that time. Just like 'Don't Forget To Remember Me' from his brothers, which chartet lil higher. Robin left the group and I think his aim was to arrive the status of a solo-supastar. His next singles 'One Million Years' and 'August October' chartet too, but lower. So thank god, he made a phonecall and Bee Gees were reunited.

The song lyric is HEARTBREAK Lane, not "our great lane" This is his first solo song in 1969 and it reached #2. His voice is inimitable.
Maybe "Carousel" refers to the lover going in circles from him to other men. A carousel ride goes up and down just like her affections. Just a guess!

Thx, poignant song. Bought the single at its issue in 1969. Then the two others following singles from the same LP called "Robin's reign". About the lyrics, I ask myself, if it's not "Now I walk down (Heartbreak lane)" rather than(our great lane)?
