Hello from the UK, my wife lost her 9K gold watch on South Beach (20 years ago). Location front of G.Versace's house, about 7/10 yards from the shoreline, if you are arund there one day look it up. Andy

I only saw your your videos for the first time last week. Heard that you were from Buffalo! I live in Lewiston, NY and have been detecting since a trip to Florida in March 1967. Have found a number of relics as you mentioned but was always drawn to the Sarasota area to detect, anytime I traveled to Florida! Thanks for the neat videos!

@DetectFlorida Yes. With zero corrosion, I figured it had been lost by some college kid (all our beaches here are college party beaches) on the Saturday, before the Monday I was there.
I'll be down there in November hopefully I can find me some lost treasure from the 1715

Theres a way to tell the pull tabs on the deus sometimes but i usually dig them just in case
That tungsten ring was the exact same VDI as all of those pull tabs I was digging. As much as I despise pull tabs, I have to dig them!
Sometimes you can just hit the edge of the tone and they will sound a little off. Ot works better for bottle caps. I still dig them too usually, unless there's a ton of targets

I’ll never understand why people remove pull tabs from cans. They don’t just fall off. You have to remove them. They used to have to be pulled off to get the drink out and people would choke on them. So the companies changed the design, and now people make an effort to remove them so they can still have the same choking hazard. 🙄
I’ve never thought of doing that in my life and it seems like it makes things so much harder for metal detecting and creates litter for no reason. I’m sure they also get swallowed by wildlife or fish, seeing as fish will swallow a reflective lure. Is it just a nervous habit? Is it just a way of littering even more? I don’t get it.

I love watching you and it got me into the hobby. I have an equinox 800. Is there any type of earbuds or bone conduction headphones for this machine because my minelab headphones work great but they are so hot

This is not a troll.. I'm actually subbed to your excellent site.. However, you mentioned the" ruff" surf there, I have to compare that Southern CA beach surf to the Central Florida Atlantic surf.. Just be grateful for the warm Florida currents... The Pacific is downright cold no matter what beach you're on...Up on the Beautiful Monterey Bay you can keep your soda,ect, nice and cool..🥶

I don't envy the beach detectorists over there on the west coast! Its rare that I can't hunt the water here. I just have to know my limits and be safe about it! Even though its much calmer here, people get sucked out into the gulf pretty regularly

Haha! They go right in the recycling bin! I would collect them, but you should see the boxes of crap that I have from metal detecting!! Cell phones, sunglasses, vapes, hot wheels cars....
Is pulling off pull tabs like an east vs west coast difference. Like soda vs pop? lol I have never met anyone on the west coast that pulls those all the way off. Or do they just fall off when left on the beach?

Equipment recommendations that don’t cost a lot, but get decent results and can work in water? I like your scoop, but I see it’s expensive on the company website. Any recommendations on one that would be similar and good quality? Thanks.
Thank you! I'll be working on some Beach Hunting 101 videos in the near future. If you're wanting to hunt saltwater, you can't really get away with a cheap machine. You'd be looking at a Nokta Legend or a Minelab Equinox at the very minimum. A good machine will pay itself off quickly if you use it enough! As far as a scoop recommendation goes, I can't really suggest one that's cheaper. When I use the cheaper ones in the water, they drive me crazy. I spend more time trying to retrieve my targets than I do actually metal detecting! Hope that helps!

@@DetectFlorida Shawn, you mentioned you used a shorter black antenna. I was trying to obtain a shorter cable. The dive cable is only around 25 inches Long which would not be long enough. Is there one available that's in between the dive antenna and the regular antenna? I cannot find one.
