I would not have guessed that! But... it's my favorite shoe of the year as well (though I don't know how I'd feel paying those UK prices). It's been great for everything--any distance, any pace. And, for the record, I'm what the people call "a bigger runner." It's been excellent from that perspective as well.
Not a runner yet but planning to start. Not much experience with running shoes aside from Clifton, Rebel v2 and Puma Nitros and just few days ago i picked up SC Trainer V3 because of a banger 130€ price. My first plated shoe and i have to say, these lowkey make me want to run, lol. They feel so bouncy, light and responsive.
I have the SC trainer OG, recently got the ver3. The ver3 is good. But still like the OG better, foam is softer, I think the fit and rocker also better with the OG
I went SB2! 😂 my favourite show of the year and the one I’ve done most mileage in is the OG Superblast which much be coming up to 400 miles now and still going strong 💪
My favourite training shoes this year is the asics noosa tri 16 I wasn’t expecting them to be as good as they are abit of a hidden gem I’ve run long distances up to 18 miles short speed work no carbon plates but I enjoyed the rocker + lightweight my favourite race day shoes is the asics metaspeed edge Paris just awesome race day shoes lightweight and feels like they propel you forward and super comfy
Thanks for sharing your favorites! The Asics Noosa Tri 16 sounds like a solid choice for both training and racing. It's always great to hear about hidden gems in the running shoe world!
I told Fordy 2 times to have a look at the Noosa Tri 16 but he wasn't interested + no appealing colours. Well, the 3 available colours are really not that great when you look at all the Noosa Tri 15 and especially the Noosa Tri 14 colours, but I got the blue/red/white one (there is also a black version, at least in Australia and the US i think, but not here in Europe nor the UK) which is ok. I think it is a major jump for the shoe going from the old dead FF to the new FFBlast+ - a little bouncy for the first time! Due to the soft upper and no stability elements the shoe is absolutely nothing for stability, pronators etc. For neutral runners, for speedwork etc, super! :) Andy, the FOD runner also loves it on his channel ans side channel. Faster shoe than the Mach 6. Only faster, nonplated "daily trainer" could be the Brooks Hyperion 2. Also the Noosas are good as a casua l shoe! :) Since the #16, I won't run in #14 and #15 any more, but wear it casually sometimes. Yesterday I had a shoulder surgery and now with just 1 hand it is a bit tricky closing shoe laces ;) The Noosa 14 has this triathlon laces, which is just a bungee cord and i managed with one hand to close the shoes up. Surely, they are not winter shoes, but enough for short ways in the city. The rubber could be better, so therefore the Noosa #16 would be better because of AsicsGrip, but mine are new and i don't want them to get dirty - specially the white parts. Is a shoe for hot summer days and beeing barefoot in them :) If i had the black ones i wouldn't mind of course :)
Also my fav show of the year. I did a post in the group late November and stated it was better than the SB2 and I stand by that, the only shoe I would happily buy another pair of, a new colourway would be awesome
Last weekend I run Malaga Marathon with the NB SC Trainer V3 and tbh they felt and performed absolutely great. But the price is a huge handicap. Luckily I bought them at 170€ which should be about their regular price... However, my favourite show this year was the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash 2. They were so much fun!
I ran both Malaga (3:19) and Frankfurt (3:17) marathon in Adidas Adizero Pro 3. Prefer to race in these but in training SB2 is by far the shoe I grab the most, soon covering 600km, and they are still almost as new!
Crazy that NB SC Trainer 3 is that expensive for you guys. In the US $180.ASICS SB 2 is $200. But i agree, love v3. Can run anything comfortably in that shoe for myself. New balance in general is my overall top pick across the board. Worked so well and so comfort with newer freshfoam and fuelcell midsoles.
Thank you for your honest review as usual. I really want this shoe but can't justify spending over £200 on it. Again case in point with your honesty - you wouldn't recommend it to the masses based on the price, which I really respect. My favourite shoe has to be the Superblast 2s. I also love the SL2s for all my workouts
Wow. Great choice. I dont care about the price of them but I i remember the half marathon you did in them and said how good they are. They will be my back up to the Superblast 2 if I cant get any when I need to replace them. Now to my personal favorite shoe of 2024 without the obvious Superblast 2, is the Puma Devaite nitro elite 3(Until the plate snapped,My fault!) So good for long runs, speed work and race day.
I wear the OG Fuel Cell Super Comp I picked up a few pairs at the same time as they were for some reason ‘Cheap’ £105 for the green ones …… ! There my absolute go toos …… 💚
I couldn't agree with you more on this one. The SC Trainer 3 is great. 👍 👍 You can get it on discount for $139. I think the biggest bonus of the shoe is that I'm two inches taller at least. These come out for every run I don't want to do. Not sure about tempo work though, it's too heavy. I've used it for 440 yard intervals where I don't want to beat up my legs.
I got this one recently thanks to a good discount at a local running store, and I also own the SB 2, I’m now struggling to decide which to use for my half marathon next year. They both just make me feel awesome, but they do feel smaller on my feet than the SB2, which may help in the half.
Superblast OG would be favourite, don't get me wrong the superblast 2 is great, just still love my originals even after 700k. Race day would be paris, ran pbs over full and half this year in that, recently got vaporfly 3's on a great deal and they have also been brilliant during my interval and tempo workouts in last few months
The Asics Superblast 2 has been 1st on my Christmas list since October, but the NB SC Trainer V3 is 2nd. Followed by the Saucony Hurricane 24 and Puma Magmax to expand my rotation. Currently have Novablast 5, Brooks Glycerin Max, and Brooks Hyperion Max 2.
Shoe of the year for me (and surprise of the year too!) is the Nike Zoom Fly 6… very closely followed by the Superblast 2. In the little time I’ve had the ZF6, I find myself reaching for it each and every time I run!
I love my SC trainer V3! Surprinsingly I haven’t seen many people talking amazing things about it, SUPERBLAST 2 is steeling almost all the attention this year, but SC Trainer V3 in my opinion is the shoe that handles best all kinds of paces saving your legs doesn’t matter what!
I’m a big SB and SB2 fan, but I’ve just done my first 10k in the NB SC Trainer 3 and I think you’re onto something. What a shoe! I’ve used the Rebel V4 a lot this year and love it. Well priced too, unlike the Trainer. Very odd.
What about the v1. I heard that it was better than the v3. I recently found a deal for 80 dollars off of the og sc trainer and I was debating if I should buy the v3 or the v1
I guessed it haha. Anyway, my favorite show of the year so far is the Mach 6. I bought the Mach X 2 (high hopes for that if my achilles doesn't bleed!) but I won't be running enough in it until the end of the year to surpass the Mach 6.
Was I the only one that guessed it on your instagram stories then? Had been considering it myself as I got a 15% discount on it but just felt it a bit squishy compared to the Superblast 2 I managed to get hold of so went with that instead. Still a lovely shoe though!
Im struggling to decide between superblast 2 and thease i cant find them anywhere in store to try and worried about picking wrong i currently have novablast 4 and metaspeed edge paris need a shoe for my long runs what would you suggested not worried about price
Hi Forde, how would you compare this to the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 ? I have been running most of my miles in that shoe lately, and I'm interested in your thoughts on those 2 shoes.
hi, do you also have this shoe, unfortunately I have the wide model, but they run great, so I will definitely buy the narrow version if they are still available
Managed to bag a pair of these for £185 in a sale with a discount code on top! I’ll be using them to train and run my first marathon in Manchester next year
got sale to $170 so i grab it fast and complete my rotation running shoes lol 1. Asics Superblast 2 (long run) 2. NewBalance SC trainer v3 (tempo) 3. Adidas Adios Pro 4 (race) 4. Puma velocity nitro 3 (daily)
The Altra Torin 7 and the New Balance SC Trainer V3 are my favorites shoes of the last two years. If anyone knows of similar shoes to these, please let me know.
Interesting, how does the sizing compare to the Superblast 2? Would you say the toebox is more or less generous? I may have to pick one up now Fordy lol.
So wish I could have gotten a decent lockdown on this one with my narrow, high volume feet. Tried 2 different sizes and it was just too baggy and had to return 😢
My favourite is also a shoe I would never recommend cuz of the price tag. It's Adidas Prime X2. Its foam is fantastic, that shoe is very comfy, it's stable enough and you can run pretty fast despite the weight. It's excellent for running at slow and moderate paces cuz it's not too soft and still softer than Adidas Pro3. And also for me it's a much better shoe than Superblast OG. It has 2 issues, weight, otherwise it would be even faster and then the price, of course.
@FordyRuns I know, but I don't need 2 of them. 😂. Thanks anyway. Waiting for the v3, I hope it will be lighter. Btw, I recently purchased a Puma Elite 3. It's my new favourite. Shoe for everything. I'm curious about durability. Both Prime X are very durable, as Pro3. After 200 km as good as new.
Agree 100% biggest problem for NB is that it’s almost too good. With the Trainer I’m thinking, Cool I don’t need to get the Elite, I can easily race in this 🙌🏻
Even more controversial as it’s way too pricey but I love the Hoka Cielo X1. But you can do everything in this shoe. But I race marathons in the Alphafly 3. Not nearly as comfy as the Hoka, but a weapon!
I’d love to get a pair of these, but why are they so expensive in the UK? Hoping they’ll eventually go on sale, as the SC elite racing shoe already has
My fave this year has been the Puma Magmax. As a heavier runner ive found the midsole to be really responsive and is allowing me to run further without fatiguing. Picked it up for £114 too, absolute bargain!
There are so many great shoes I picked up in 2024. Overall the one shoe that always makes me smile when I lace it up is the Nike Zoom Fly 6. It surprised the heck out of me.
Fordy, Is the SC Trainer as squishy as the Rebel V4 or does the plate make it a bit firmer and more responsive? I found the Rebel too soft and unstable.
I would not have guessed that! But... it's my favorite shoe of the year as well (though I don't know how I'd feel paying those UK prices). It's been great for everything--any distance, any pace. And, for the record, I'm what the people call "a bigger runner." It's been excellent from that perspective as well.
Yeah it really is so versatile
Not a runner yet but planning to start. Not much experience with running shoes aside from Clifton, Rebel v2 and Puma Nitros and just few days ago i picked up SC Trainer V3 because of a banger 130€ price. My first plated shoe and i have to say, these lowkey make me want to run, lol. They feel so bouncy, light and responsive.
Been injured most of the year and adore the 1080v14, definitely making me look at other NB shoes in the future.
Mine is the surprise of 2024 .. Zoom fly 6
Agree so underrated tried to buy another pair sold out everywhere in my size
Brooks Hyperion 2 is my favourite closely followed by superblast 2
I have the SC trainer OG, recently got the ver3. The ver3 is good. But still like the OG better, foam is softer, I think the fit and rocker also better with the OG
Yes! This is also my favorite 2024 shoe and I ran in literally over 35 shoes. It is extremely comfortable & fun.
1. NB SC Elite v4
2. NB SC Trainer v3
New Balance was amazing this year!!
I’m with you
I went SB2! 😂 my favourite show of the year and the one I’ve done most mileage in is the OG Superblast which much be coming up to 400 miles now and still going strong 💪
OG!!!!
Love New Balance. This shoe and Balos were great! They also make them all in wide which is an added bonus.
how would u compare balos and sc v3 to each other? which 1 u like more and which things they do better etc? u use them for same type of runs?
My favourite training shoes this year is the asics noosa tri 16 I wasn’t expecting them to be as good as they are abit of a hidden gem I’ve run long distances up to 18 miles short speed work no carbon plates but I enjoyed the rocker + lightweight my favourite race day shoes is the asics metaspeed edge Paris just awesome race day shoes lightweight and feels like they propel you forward and super comfy

Since the #16, I won't run in #14 and #15 any more, but wear it casually sometimes.
Yesterday I had a shoulder surgery and now with just 1 hand it is a bit tricky closing shoe laces ;)
The Noosa 14 has this triathlon laces, which is just a bungee cord and i managed with one hand to close the shoes up.
Surely, they are not winter shoes, but enough for short ways in the city.
The rubber could be better, so therefore the Noosa #16 would be better because of AsicsGrip, but mine are new and i don't want them to get dirty - specially the white parts. Is a shoe for hot summer days and beeing barefoot in them :)
If i had the black ones i wouldn't mind of course :)
I agree, I do love this shoe at both easy and tempo pace
Also my fav show of the year. I did a post in the group late November and stated it was better than the SB2 and I stand by that, the only shoe I would happily buy another pair of, a new colourway would be awesome

Still love the superblast 2 best!! But, novablast 4 is still amazing!

great if on the cheap
Let's go! 🔥 hope it works for me too. Just bought it and excited to try it out 😁
I got this one recently thanks to a good discount at a local running store, and I also own the SB 2, I’m now struggling to decide which to use for my half marathon next year. They both just make me feel awesome, but they do feel smaller on my feet than the SB2, which may help in the half.

Most miles this year is definitely the Deviate Nitro 2. 2nd is the ASICS Trabuco Max 2, mainly as I do most of my long runs off road.
great shoes

@FordyRuns Me too
Shoe of the year for me (and surprise of the year too!) is the Nike Zoom Fly 6… very closely followed by the Superblast 2. In the little time I’ve had the ZF6, I find myself reaching for it each and every time I run!
Yeah someone else just said
I love my SC trainer V3! Surprinsingly I haven’t seen many people talking amazing things about it, SUPERBLAST 2 is steeling almost all the attention this year, but SC Trainer V3 in my opinion is the shoe that handles best all kinds of paces saving your legs doesn’t matter what!

What about the v1. I heard that it was better than the v3. I recently found a deal for 80 dollars off of the og sc trainer and I was debating if I should buy the v3 or the v1
i love these
This one didn't work well for me, but I'm glad I tried it. That said, Rebel 4 has been my favorite road shoe of the year. Love it as a daily trainer.
I guessed it haha. Anyway, my favorite show of the year so far is the Mach 6. I bought the Mach X 2 (high hopes for that if my achilles doesn't bleed!) but I won't be running enough in it until the end of the year to surpass the Mach 6.
Mine is the speed 4. I like a light weight do it all kind of shoe.
great shoe
Was I the only one that guessed it on your instagram stories then? Had been considering it myself as I got a 15% discount on it but just felt it a bit squishy compared to the Superblast 2 I managed to get hold of so went with that instead. Still a lovely shoe though!
yep across the pod, insta, facebook and community tab!
@ Ridiculous price aside, you did give it a glowing review so had a sneaky suspicion. Thanks for all the content this year, roll on 2025!
Topo Specter 2. I may try your recommendation though
Enjoy!
I am tempted by this shoe but I have the v1 and found it too big and bottom heavy. Is this version any more nimble ?
Yeah totally different
Im struggling to decide between superblast 2 and thease i cant find them anywhere in store to try and worried about picking wrong i currently have novablast 4 and metaspeed edge paris need a shoe for my long runs what would you suggested not worried about price
Hi Forde, how would you compare this to the Brooks Hyperion Max 2 ? I have been running most of my miles in that shoe lately, and I'm interested in your thoughts on those 2 shoes.
I prefer these
For me it’s the 1080v13 as my go to shoe for all the easy miles, which are the bulk of my runs :)
great shoe

Good luck

1. Asics Superblast 2 (long run)
2. NewBalance SC trainer v3 (tempo)
3. Adidas Adios Pro 4 (race)
4. Puma velocity nitro 3 (daily)
Nice shoes
Nike Zoom Fly 6 for me in the EK colorway 👍🔥.
Lots of love for that shoe
The Altra Torin 7 and the New Balance SC Trainer V3 are my favorites shoes of the last two years. If anyone knows of similar shoes to these, please let me know.
Interesting, how does the sizing compare to the Superblast 2? Would you say the toebox is more or less generous?
I may have to pick one up now Fordy lol.
I had to go up 0.5
I thought you would’ve chosen the Hyperion Max or the Superblast version 2. I can agree with that New Balance SC trainer version 3 but.
Unbiased real reviews 💙
So wish I could have gotten a decent lockdown on this one with my narrow, high volume feet. Tried 2 different sizes and it was just too baggy and had to return 😢
such a shame

That shoe has its fans and you can pick it up cheaper now

Superblast v2 and Metaspeed SKY Paris
great combo
Here for the 22 million subs
Agree 100% biggest problem for NB is that it’s almost too good. With the Trainer I’m thinking, Cool I don’t need to get the Elite, I can easily race in this 🙌🏻
Not going to be original here: Superblast 2. Got it recently and this shoe is great for almost every kind of run.
great shoe
Superblast v1 and MetaSpeed Paris Edge
Great shoes
Even more controversial as it’s way too pricey but I love the Hoka Cielo X1. But you can do everything in this shoe. But I race marathons in the Alphafly 3. Not nearly as comfy as the Hoka, but a weapon!
im looking fwd to v2
@ 100% agree, promises to be lighter which could make it a game changer 🙏🏾🙌🏽
I’d love to get a pair of these, but why are they so expensive in the UK? Hoping they’ll eventually go on sale, as the SC elite racing shoe already has
They are slowly getting discounted
Hi mate
My favorite shoes is new balance sc elite v4
Great shoe
I am going to the local sports shop tonight to try on a pair. For some unknown reason they retail at $180 in the US... or £145
Limited sizes are also on a discount at REI now for $148
grab them
Superblast 2 for me 👍
My fave this year has been the Puma Magmax. As a heavier runner ive found the midsole to be really responsive and is allowing me to run further without fatiguing.
Picked it up for £114 too, absolute bargain!
This one didn’t work for me, but NB has had an excellent 2024 overall.
Morning all. Saucony endorphin speed 4. !!! Find your strong!!!. Like to Fordy. A nice week for everyone.
fab shoe
Brooks Hyperion max 2
great shoe
not watched yet but defo will be Superblast!! you love that thing
I was wrong!!
Hahahah thanks for watching merry Christmas
Mizuno Neo Vista
im looking fwd to neo zen
Shoe of the year 👍🏻
Not seen the video yet but guessing from the wrong answers online its going to be the New Balance SC Trainer
Ah I thought so. My shoes of the year are the Brooks Launch 9 and the Adidas Adistar 😂 I'm about 3 years in the past!
adistar!!!
Nike Zoom Fly 6
Nike came back to life
SB2 dethroned! I like this one too, but I still think the Superblast is king.
It is king BUT I just love this shoe … I have to be honest
so expensive that its an easy skip until they release a new one and it drops in price
it is coming down
Well that’s a shocker 😅
No paid ads here 🤣
There are so many great shoes I picked up in 2024. Overall the one shoe that always makes me smile when I lace it up is the Nike Zoom Fly 6. It surprised the heck out of me.
So many good shoes this year
Totally agree
Wow. This seems to be one of the most unloved shoes this year, considered a complete let down from the V2.
i love it
Love it. Stupid money.
superblast 2
Fordy, Is the SC Trainer as squishy as the Rebel V4 or does the plate make it a bit firmer and more responsive? I found the Rebel too soft and unstable.
Plate defo helps
I was convinced you were going to choose the Superblast 2 😯
always keeping it real
