If you have too much truble finding out lining techniques, you can always go to the library- I do that and it's soo helpfull! :))) I love your videos Annika!!
My friends say it's really nice to hug me when I'm wearing this jacket 🐻 thank you for 600k!! Looking forward to what's ahead, tell me your holiday plans!! Or what you'd pick from Fashionary if you could get anything?
I'm visiting family for the holidays. There is so much to chose from at Fashionary, I really love purses and bags and would definitely chose the bag designs.
I am planning to spend a lot of time with my family and my boyfriend, and a lot of time doing only things I want to do (no work! yay! ^-^) I am so stoked to get one of the fashionairy sketchbooks for womens clothing! that is exactly what I've been looking for for the longest time! I really like sketching out ideas, but anatomy is not my strength...
Fluffeh! Thank you for all the wonderful ideas especially the lining and sketching part. I basically gave up on fur after making my wedding dress shrug. It was a struggle sewing the thing for all the reasons you mentioned that I ended up using fabric glue in some places (so not recommended) LOL. Holiday plans - rest, family, and 1st wedding anniversary. :)
withwendy so with the old jacket did you make patterns out of that to make the teddy jacket and did you use that old jacket to put inside of the teddy jacket ????
I am visiting my daughter in Louisiana. She had a baby last week.👶 I couldn't see the people in the sketchbook in this video, but I have seen them. It was helpful for me to see the sketches.👍 I have a very orange piece of faux fur from a thrift store. I think this will make a great project.😀 I love the pockets too!🌟Thank You.
You and Annika Victoria have inspired me so much that at 22 I've finally decided to follow my dreams and study Fashion Design in uni. I don't want to just sew, I want to design and forget about the stigma it has where I live
I don't think you mentioned it in the video, but when cutting faux fur, cut from the wrong side! This helps keep you from cutting the actual fur itself.
Ivan Balderrama Well, you may have known that tip but not everyone knows what you know. :-) We can all learn from somebody! TheRangerGreen gave some good advice that I will definitely use in beginner projects. (-:
I love how I can clearly see what you're doing and hear what you're saying without distracting music or any other effects... really helpful and neat tutorial!! the jacket turned out really cute thank you for this video!!
This is so great! I'm a costume designer and reusing a jacket like this is perfect for recreating a faux fur vintage coat!! so visual pleasing as always!
What I love about this is how you used the wool coat as lining and inner shell, so that it will actually provide warmth seeing faux fur isn't as warm as real fur.
Tu proposes des tutoriels tellement cool ! Continues à faire ce type de DIY c'est vraiment ce que j'apprécie le plus sur ta chaîne ! Bon courage pour ton apprentissage de la langue française :) Love from France.
I definitely feel your work book drawings are much more easier to understand, I was just watching some of your previous videos and I'd say this one was the more easier on to follow. Love your stuff 💜 all the way from New Zealand 🇳🇿😁
Aw, man, now I almost wish I hadn't seen this video... Went to the fabric store for the first time in a long time, and they had soooooooo many kinds of beautiful faux fur. I'd either have a breakdown trying to pick one to use for this project, or to make more than one and go broke in the process! 😭🐻
Girl you are remarkable. The jacket is so cute. Can you please do a knee length teddy coat. I want to make one myself. This video gave me some great ideas but I guess I'm not as confident and would prefer to see what it entails.
Thank you for this! I loved the detailed drawing/labeling with the numbers it was so helpful! I’m such a visual learner so having that little visual list was great!
So cute! I never though of just making a shell for an existing jacket; it would make a great Chewbacca costume! (lol). (Oh, and quick tip for faux fur, if you throw your cut pieces in the dryer for a bit before you start sewing with them, they won't shed as much. You just have a ton of lint in the lint trap, but that's not as bad as having it all over everything else.)
December 2018, having breakfast after an amazing concert from jessie J last night and I am putting this video on just to hear your voice (I will never wear such a jacket). You are such an inspiration for me to sew something else other than dresses, keep on going girl
Love that you used a thrifted jacket for the lining, great idea! I really want to make one of these!! It looks so cozy! Not sure I have the patience to work with the faux fur though! Great job as always!!!
So happy you posted this! I wanted to make a jacket like this for my birthday a few weeks back, but I felt intimidated and you just made it look so easy! I’m making one soon now! Thank you!
It’s gorgeous Wendy! I’m also loving the editing - I hope you’re enjoying having an editor. Also, the sketches were useful - I could already visualise it, but it was great for clarification.
Its difficult to explain but you can sew the sleeve ends by pulling the sleeve through a hole in the jacket body. sew it shut with the machine and pull it back in. Thats the way i learnt it in school. Sorry if its lacking explanation :(
Coco Stardust by any chance you have a video or a link on how to do that? I think I get what you mean, but just wondering how you would be able to pull the second sleeve through the jacket?? lol it would be nice to see a visual of this explanation if you have one
Unless you mean you turn the fur jacket inside out then sew the lining jacket on the inside...? idk if I'm explaining that right lol but it was a technique I used on a jacket I made last year but I personally wish I had added the lining before adding the zipper and collar of the jacket lol
ruclips.net/video/rIACml9tlRM/видео.html here i found a video on that term. Of course fur makes it a bit more difficult. A bit of a struggle sewing lining inside out but if one has mastered it in brain its cooler to sew....i guess :P
Coco Stardust thank you! that was a great video like I gasped out loud when she showed the finished product lol!! I'm sure with the fur, you would need to lay the fur down to expose the...idk what it's called lol but yeah it may be difficult but idk. it's always worth a shot to try
yeah i thought that too....or maybe for further jacket projects. Changing damaged lining is a thing for that technique too. Without ripping the whole lining of you can reach the sleeves.
also, can't wait to bring home my sewing machine that the library is giving me for free! it's in working condition, in a desk that has a motor that elevates the machine up to the top with the flip of a switch. so cool.
You might be the first RUclips personality that I've EVER heard pronounce it "voila", rather than "walla". OH. MY GOD. THAAAAANK YOOOOUUU! 😭 (Tears of joy and hope for humanity)
Yes! But there are some things to think about before you jump in: 1. will add a bit more bulk to the fit 2. if the faux fur you choose has a shedding issue this will be impossible to wear with dark knits 3. will be very insulating, not recommended for a person who lives somewhere warm hahaha sounds wondrous though :)
Sofia M yes you could but I'd go with a much shorter pile fur. Probably use a darker color too so you could wear dark colors that are popular during fall and winter. I made a robe and I lined it with a short pile fur to keep me warm. Worked like a charm.
Can you also make the teddycoat without the jacket... like with lining in it or do you really need an old jacket? And I have just got a little book from fasionary too!! I really love it
Can you do a video on how to join 2 teddy faux fur type coats together for the purpose of enlarging it to fit. I have the task to do & a bit unsure of how to do it the most simplest way. Im thinking of enlarging arms down through to the end of the jacket & the back from the neck collar all the way to the bottom. Making it a square instead of triangle to get the most of the material. What do you think about this? Any ideas or pointers.
Hello Ms.Wendy I just recently started watching your channel but I really love and Appreciate your tips because I am currently working on my own clothing line and everything I do it from scratch so you have helped a lot with quite a bit of my work so thanks a billion 🤩
Wendy!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a faux fur jacket for like 2 years this is sooo helpful - thank you!
I love you.
😍😍😍😍😍😍

I did not blink at all because the whole process was so interesting! Fantastic work, you are truly an inspiration!
This is GENIUS and beginner friendly! The sketches are great for those of us who are visual learners. Thank you Big Hugs and Continued Blessings 💜

Very Helpful☺️
You and Annika Victoria have inspired me so much that at 22 I've finally decided to follow my dreams and study Fashion Design in uni. I don't want to just sew, I want to design and forget about the stigma it has where I live
The breakdown part you did in the sketchbook was really useful for understanding the tutorial! Keep doing it!
I have seen so many videos that were supposed to be beginner friendly but weren't. This video was so easy to understand. Thank you!
I don't think you mentioned it in the video, but when cutting faux fur, cut from the wrong side! This helps keep you from cutting the actual fur itself.
Thank you yes!! Keys to reducing the furry mess
TheRangerGreen we been knew
Ivan Balderrama Well, you may have known that tip but not everyone knows what you know. :-) We can all learn from somebody! TheRangerGreen gave some good advice that I will definitely use in beginner projects. (-:
TheRangerGreen and cut not with scissors but with an exacto knife to prevent cutting the fur
Thanks for the tip😊

Whoa! Faux fur + wool must make for a super warm winter piece!
Thumbs up for the Teddy Coat! Great ideas as always your a rockstar!
Thank you!!

Great idea using the wool coat as a base! The diagram helps!
Yes the sketchbook was helpful!!!
yes from me too!!
Girl you are remarkable. The jacket is so cute. Can you please do a knee length teddy coat. I want to make one myself. This video gave me some great ideas but I guess I'm not as confident and would prefer to see what it entails.
Super useful to see the sketchbook during the making of the jacket
Wow, I'm loving it! You could even add an inside pocket to make it a bit more practical!
love your tutorials, they're always super clear and easy to follow. I've seen diys like this but with absolutely no lining so this is so genius to me.
How many yards of fur fabric did you use?
Thank you for this! I loved the detailed drawing/labeling with the numbers it was so helpful! I’m such a visual learner so having that little visual list was great!
I simply love this project.
I have a gifted piece of fur that was just waiting for me to find this tutorial. The lining idea......simply genius.
🌹
can i just say i adore and appreciate your editing + overall style so much????? i’m in love!! amazing video, thank you
Thank you!! I love it when I have all the footage together and can start chopping so I'm so glad it shows :)
your hard work is very inspiring. thank you again (:
Always super nice sewing diys ! I love the way you are super calm it's sooooo relaxing !
I like the sketches seeing them helps me understand the breakdown and it's good for referencing and keeping track of what goes where

For the record, I liked the drawing!
Looks lovely and WARM!!!
you’re so talented! so much patience!

I absolutely love this idea! Great for the winter season! 😄

Really love the sketch book addition to the video. I’d love to see more clips included in the future ! :)

cute coat! and yeah seeing the sketching process was awesome and very helpful!
Never thought to make a faux fur jacket 🧥 it came out great I must try this out happy sewing 🧵

I freaking love this.. so simple!! I love your video style too Wends. so fresh so clean
The sketchbook idea definitely helped! Thank You! And please make more tutorials!! I miss your videos and your lovely spirit!
also, can't wait to bring home my sewing machine that the library is giving me for free! it's in working condition, in a desk that has a motor that elevates the machine up to the top with the flip of a switch. so cool.
woww .. I've been thinking of making a faux fur jacket lately .. but I want to make it sleeveless .. I liked how you made yours :)
I love the jacket!so cute!right now I'm making my husband an umbrella for Christmas :) have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Love the way you made your teddy coat really nice
Great idea and I like how it turned out. Thanks
You might be the first RUclips personality that I've EVER heard pronounce it "voila", rather than "walla". OH. MY GOD. THAAAAANK YOOOOUUU! 😭 (Tears of joy and hope for humanity)
This looks soooo good i wish i was this motivated and creative ! You make it look so easy !
That's super cool!!! And congratulations on hitting 600k!!!
Question: Could you also add faux fur lining to the inside to make it fuzzier too?
Yes! But there are some things to think about before you jump in:
1. will add a bit more bulk to the fit
2. if the faux fur you choose has a shedding issue this will be impossible to wear with dark knits
3. will be very insulating, not recommended for a person who lives somewhere warm hahaha
sounds wondrous though :)
Plus, body odor will stay in the inside fur FOREVER. Perspiration would make the fur go dull very quickly as well.
Sofia M yes you could but I'd go with a much shorter pile fur. Probably use a darker color too so you could wear dark colors that are popular during fall and winter.
I made a robe and I lined it with a short pile fur to keep me warm. Worked like a charm.
your voice is soo soothing😍😍
Oh, I loved the sketches of the pieces that you need! I hope to keep seeing it in the future. :)
Wendy, you make it all look so easy!
Can you also make the teddycoat without the jacket... like with lining in it or do you really need an old jacket? And I have just got a little book from fasionary too!! I really love it
Kaat VDP I was wondering that also.
This looks amazing. I'm stealing my mother's sewing machine for 2018. So much to make....you have inspired me to continue my mother's passion.
I LOVE YOUR FUR COAT WENDY.
A slip covered coat, brilliant!
This jacket is beautiful, definitely will make one, watched this tutorial like 3 times now
I just love it! I am going to do the same with an old coat...Pray for me. Thanks for sharing Wendy.
