You gotta be careful around everyone these days. I was walking down the street yesterday and a guy walked towards me and pulled out scissors. I'm sooooo happy I was agile enough to reach into my pocket and pull out a rock. Cus if I had pulled out paper, I would have lost.

This was a great presentation! I didn’t even think of having the ‘turn hole’ be in the lining! I’m so glad I found this video! I’m about to tackle my first faux fur coat. Thank you sooo much for posting! 🥰🥰
Love how simple your kept the tutorial. Only comment I have is the back part of fur I would have drawn one piece and cut it out as one. Now the coat is pulling a bit up in the middle and you have a stripe of big fur in the middle when you sit down. So one back piece of fur would be cleaner and more comfortable. But how you explain everything is really well done.
Absolutely stunningly made, my only comment would be to have the back fur panel cut on fold so it doesn't make a line on the fur, but if you are low on fur, it's really not the end of the world. Love you pattern making illustrations :)
really excited to try this, it's hard for me to find cute jackets in my size so i def want to diy one. do you have any vids talking about where you find your fabrics?
Beautiful job and you clearly have great sewing skills and experience. My only question: was a center back seam really necessary? I know some jackets have shaping at the center back seam but yours appears to a a straight seam. Last faux fur jacket I did, I eliminated the center back seam allowance from the pattern. But still, your finished jacket is crazy clean looking and well made. Brava!
Thanks Kevin! and good call, in this case it actually wasn't. I was working with less fabric at first so I wanted the separate pieces incase I needed to play tetris with the pattern to get everything to fit haha but i ended up getting more fabric anyways and didn't need to
I am totally going to make this jacket light up on my channel thanks for sharing how to make the jacket and I will absolutely be giving you a shout out 💕
Love this. For the hood tho you could have attached it to the base fabric and then tucked it in when adding the lining. I do my cuffs like that as well.
"WOW!" Linda, What a Beautiful Coat and it is "Flawless!" Okay, I'm going to try it! To make One just like yours, as I have an Old Coat like that for a Pattern. sew&tell well I'm trying to save up for a sewing machine, as soon as I get it I'll contact you. The only part where I still don,t get a grasp on is when you're sewing the two sleeves together and flip it over. ❤️
Hello! I love this coat! I am here to see if you would possibly be able to go more in depth on how you’re sewing in the pockets? Like when you’re sewing them on initially, are you closing up where your hands would go and then around them? I may be thinking too hard about this! Thank you (:
thank you!! and I am glad you asked :) i love pockets in clothing but sometimes they mess with my head too haha but you got it right !! so for this one i attached one side of the pocket lining to one side of the coat (repeat for other side) thennnn when you lay the coat pieces right side to right side, you want to sew down the coat seam, around the curve of the pocket lining and then down the rest of the coat seam. I hope that makes sense!! feel free to dm me on instagram if you need more help :) I can draw out something for you there if need
It would be so helpful if u could write down the pattern pieces with numbers (x2, x1..etc) in your description box for all your work! Love the jacket tho❤️😭
oh no im sorry i didnt include it in the description :( i believe it was about 3-4 yards of fabric and i bought the fabric instore but here is the link to it www.joann.com/fashion-faux-cheshire-fur-fabric--white/15578917.html
Hey Danielle ! this was my brother se400 machine and I used the regular needle and it worked just fine. If your fur has a lot of stretch i might recommend a ball point needle used for knits.
I love your video.. Best informed tutorial I've found. I just wish it could have been slowed down. I got more information from you from you than any other.
This is Great thank you! Do you know how much fabric you used ? What’s the min I could buy, I wanna make a couple of these but this type of material is kinda pricey !
Would I be able to just cut out the whole back piece as one instead of two? Would it make a big difference? I just don’t want to see the seam in the back

Hmm the only part i would be worried about is how the jacket would look reversed. Im afraid that it might be bulgy in certain area because of the fur. If you are ok with that I would try it out :) its always nice to have a pop lining anyways

How many yards of fur did you end up using?

what were your specific measurements? And how many yards of fur did you buy?

Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question... I'm trying to figure out what the purpose of the back facing is if you already have a hood on the coat?
Another question.. Why do you choose to have 2 back pieces that you sew together instead of cutting it out on a fold and having the back as 1 piece?
job well done
