- Did you know that Texas has a Thru-hike/trail? The Lonestar Hiking Trail (LSHT) is a 92 mile trail that meanders east to west along the Sam Houston National Forest, and 128 miles if you include the hiking loops. It is the longest continuous footpath in the state of Texas. Camping is allowed along the trail except during hunting season. #LSHT #hikingadventures #hikingwithdogs #thruhike

Let me know if you knew we had a thru-hike in Texas. It’s usually a long trail that is hiked in one attempt.
Good morning Jennifer. Very nice trail. It would be pretty neat if Texas had border to border hiking trails. East west or north south. I bet you it would be a destination hike for a lot of people. Thank you for the tour and information. Hope you're having a good weekend.
Those would be some awesome trails Dennis. Hope you are improving every day. Thinking about you often.
I never knew we had a through hike in Texas. Thanks for the info and the tour.
What a great to RUclips channel!
@@stevengreco1939 you’re too kind! 🙂
Hi Jennifer. Copperhead are out here also. I've seen a few on the gravel roads in our area, usually about dark. A lot of hiking trails in Arkansas. Most take more than three days. I would have to Google through trails. Nice video.
Thanks! I finally put up a pinned comment explaining the thru/through trails. They are long trails where people attempt to hike the entire trail in one go. Thanks for always commenting Tracy. I appreciate it.

Many many years ago I walked that trail for a short hike. It’s really grown up since then! But I was there in early Spring. The poodles are looking plump & happy! 🐩🐩 be careful of snakes!!
@@TexasPegP early Spring would be beautiful. Thanks Peggy. Always careful when it comes to snakes.
Enjoyed the hiking trail. Keep the adventure alive.
Thank you! Will do. 🙂
I think it's nice that Gemma pulls Jupe and you along on her hikes.
She definitely does!
Hi Jennifer. I didn't know we had thru-hiking trail in Texas. I always enjoy your hiking with the dogs.cool video
@marycooper2557 thanks for watching and commenting!
KY has the Sheltowee Trace Recreational Trail from TN border to Ohio border in Boone National Forest in Eastern KY. Been on a few sections and just beautiful in mid-October. Goes through sections of arches and waterfalls and mountain vistas. State Parks and camping included.
Sounds beautiful William!
Hi Jennifer, no I had no idea there was a Thru-Hike Trail in Texas nor did I know what that meant until today. Goes to show you can learn something new everyday. I have never been in such a narrow trail before and that would make me nervous if I was by myself, at least you have your trusted poodles to defend you.
Yeah, I was kind of nervous in that high brush. Thanks Belinda!
Cool hiking trail.👍Pacific Crest Trail is the one in California. 2650 miles. There is a cool trail that runs from Mineral Wells to Weatherford but its only around 20 miles long.
@@rvlivingwiththegeezer7791 wow, that’s still a jaunt!
@@poodleprofessor They allow horseback riding.
Great video and great hiking!! Have a good day and weekend. Stay safe and God bless. Thank you for sharing
@@heatherlandskron thank you!
I’m not familiar with the thru trail. I’ve never seen American Beauty berries before! Sassafras! My dad and I used to go to the woods to get some for tea. I miss that. Thanks for sharing ❤
@@FollowingtheYellowBrickRoad thanks for watching! Aww, that’s a sweet memory.
Nope, didn't know about that trail either. Are their alligators in lakes there?
Yes there are! Have to be careful in the northern part of Lake Conroe. Raven Lake in Huntsville state park has them too.
I had heard of it a long time ago but could never find any info.
🐩
I've been wondering if those beauty berries are edible, they're all over Memorial Park here in Houston. Saw a recipe a few weeks ago that includes them in the Chronicle, so I guess they are. I tried to include the link but YT doesn't like it, apparently.
Oh how interesting. We played with them as kids and I never knew they were edible until I was an adult. Thanks for the comment Bryan.
@@poodleprofessor If you want to see the article, google "beauty berries quinoa salad chronicle" and it's the first link that comes up.
Jen, did you run into the any poison oak/poison ivy? That area looks like it would be infested with it.
Not that I know of! I tend to forget about that. Probably not a good idea.
