Me looking back now, I'm not gonna speak into existence a woman passing me by. I used to love them as a group. But thinking back my mental health or security in pleasing myself first wasn't there then.
Fatlip was the ODB of Pharcyde. He should've linked up with Eminem. Imagine the songs they could've had. He would've fit right in on the MMLP or the SSLP at least for a feature or 2. Take RBX off that remember me song and replace him with Fatlip, then it would've been him. Em and Sticky Fingas. The pieces never fell into place with dude.
The only reason Sticky was on that album is because he was signed to Aftermath at the time. The Outsidaz were originally on there, but Dre took them off. They would have been the better fit.

I love your series. It's given me a renewed interest in 90s-00s hiphop music. I remember a lot of the artists you cover for their one or two hits. I was wondering if you could cover Lil Jon and his affiliates like Lil Scrappy, Trillville. Or cover Trick Daddy. Again you're quite the archiver/presenter. This could easily be a program on MTV2 HipHop sundays back in the day.
I stopped Fatlip from entering a bar in Atlanta one night cause he didn't have his ID.. my guy balled up on the curb as just sat there the rest if the night..
At THAT time? Fat Lip had the same issue every emcee had trying to be successful, or heard- that was the era of the powerful industry, and radio, that was running everything. They wanted hits! They wanted that sound! They wanted ratings, spins, advertisement, and profit! Then you had the taste makers, or rather gatekeepers of hip hop- it wasn’t the audience that chose who was worthy, it was in the hands of the elite heads of radio, hip hop, and clubs.. the DJs had the power.. A&R.. Fat Lip would’ve made it HUGE, if he was of this era.. but, he wasn’t.. he was during the true golden era, the grimy 90s.. too many emcees were hungry, and I mean starving to make it in the industry, and get a deal.. I remember all of this.. I remember copping the cassette, getting the single at Specs, and Sam Goody.. then seeing the videos on Rap City(Joe Clair & Big Lez) era.. what a time..
I'm still looking to buy The far side CD again. People don't know how good that group was and how good fat lip is still to this day. It's just the grind of the business most don't want to do it if you've done it in the past.

Me… well I don’t know them HOWEVER I did get to see them at the peak of their fame at KMEL 106.1 Summer Jam 1993 at the shoreline amphitheater in Mountain View California near San Francisco when I was like 16. The show was pretty epic, although when they performed you could tell they were wall either baked or drunk 😂
the pharcyde was so bad ass I wish they went on longer and had more time in the industry and made more music
Me looking back now, I'm not gonna speak into existence a woman passing me by. I used to love them as a group. But thinking back my mental health or security in pleasing myself first wasn't there then.
Nice videos i always watch each upload can we please get that t-pain stunted growth video we want it
This group were amazing. I remember when DROP dropped what a tune my fav
I know the benefits of therapy and outward honesty but must each and everything really need disclosure ? I mean Grand Damn..
Nah RBX was perfect for that song.
RBX JUST FEATURED ON FATLIPS SINGLE FOR HIS NEW ALBUM .. SONG IS CALLED “WAKE UP”
But Eminem is gayer and faker.
The only reason Sticky was on that album is because he was signed to Aftermath at the time. The Outsidaz were originally on there, but Dre took them off. They would have been the better fit.
saw them at one of their last shows together, the crowd was 90% Emo kids
I remember that dvd that cameout with what’s up fatlip. Sad shit. The split up Pharcyde released a killer record around that time tho
For those genuinely interested in Fatlip, check out Spike Jonze's 2003 documentary 'What's Up, Fatlip?'
Also check out the track 'Y'all on Fly' from Fatlip's album 'What's Up, Fatlip?'
Also check out his recent mixtape with Blu 'Live From The End of The World, Vol. 1', featuring production from Madlib.
A Robb Bank$ vid would be dope
Souls of Mischief for the W
damn this is rare. I LOVE THE PHARCYDE
His track on Atmosphere Airlines Vol 2 "My style is fly (remix)" is way too dope!
Do stunted growth on Brand Nubians
And de la soul
@@maroon9273 De La isn't stunted. They've had a 30 plus year career...
@@dogsandyoga1743 there stunt happened with the ego tripping video and the stake is high album subliminal shots at rappers which pac believed they were going at them. Plus, accident aim at treach where ran up on them and had a brawl?.
@@maroon9273 Is that really stunted growth tho? Although it is interesting history, not sure how it would qualify.
Everyone likes someone who will clown themselves at your expense-Lavelle Crawford
Always liked Pharcyde they got a few bangers I still pull up to this day never knew about all the turmoil in the group particularly fatlip's story which is intriguing for a person who has enjoyed their music for years, but when the videos creator said "Fatlip is still a Dope MC" (10:28) and did the close up of a very crackheadish picture I began to ponder was this guy being funny, am I suppose to laugh ? Anyone else notice that or am I tripping?
Why u showed earl sweatshirt??? LMFAO 😂😂😂😂
Best hip hop group from teenage era. Wow, I never knew this about him. He’s still a dope rapper. I miss Housers Rappers.
I need a video on either slum village or little brother.
You should do an exposé on Lord Have Mercy and Saafir, as well
FATLIP is a Legend 😤
LOVE THE PHARCYDE!!!
@StuntedGrowthMusic Could you do a piece on DEF JEF? That would be dope. I think he was slept on lyrically and he definitely had one of the Best stage shows of the Golden era of Hip Hop.
Did you do Roscoe dash yet? Mickey facts too
Yuck, why did you do that. Can't see how you didn't know but ok. Doesn't take anything away from his work and he kept his private life private. Rather not know that.
"Bro top" lmao 💀
I love your series. It's given me a renewed interest in 90s-00s hiphop music. I remember a lot of the artists you cover for their one or two hits.
I was wondering if you could cover Lil Jon and his affiliates like Lil Scrappy, Trillville. Or cover Trick Daddy.
Again you're quite the archiver/presenter. This could easily be a program on MTV2 HipHop sundays back in the day.
I stopped Fatlip from entering a bar in Atlanta one night cause he didn't have his ID.. my guy balled up on the curb as just sat there the rest if the night..
Damn 😞
Sad
This gotta be Earl sweatshirt pops 🧐🤷🏾♂️‼️
No one here maybe understand this maybe cuz they're too young but fat lip, in that group is like "Brown from leaders of the new school " that was the group that Busta rhymes came from.
Wow buster had a user than Life style Brown was the better lyricist everyone thought okay when a group breaks up he's going to take it!
NO!!....! I was hoping bro top didn't mean what I thought
Me too... I was hoping it meant a hairstyle
@@KtotheG 🤣🤣
He said before my time....damn, I know I'm old!!!
Imagine making your group choose between you and another member then leaving anyway.
"Whats Up Fatlip" is still a great album.
