  • In this vlog, Powerball winner Timothy Schultz gives insights about interesting lottery winner stories in 2020. Timothy Schultz won the lottery in 1999 before going back to college to study film, journalism and broadcast news. He's now combining his experience with his desire to meet and interview other lottery winners and people who have come into sudden wealth.
    In this video, Timothy discusses how life changes for some lottery winners after they win. He also touches on whether winning the lottery can be caused by fate, the Law of Attraction, or whether it's merely luck.

      I understand your desire to be private with your win.
      It's such a heavy thing to carry, until you get to be comfortable with it in your life.
      I don't think people really understand how damaging sudden wealth could be, especially if you're identified in the media.
      I have customers who are lottery winners and others who are self made millionaires.
      The lottery winners are often expected to pay for the rest of the people's bill, and the self made are revered and those same people who bullyrag the lottery winners into paying are actually tugging their forelock to the self made millionaires, and wouldn't dream of asking the self made to pay their bills.
      Yet they have the same amount of money in the bank.
      Well done on you for keeping it private and to yourself. I hope you have had a nice positive experience with it.

    It is amazing how if you WIN money ppl feel justified to ask you for a loan but if you 'earn' the same amount of money ppl wouldn't be so bold/rude to ask for loan...

      Thanks for your comment. It's super interesting! I think lottery winners are more apt to be approached for that type of thing than the average person of wealth.

      That's fascinating; I completely understand. It's definitely one of the most rare things that can happen to a person. I felt extremely isolated for a while after winning. I find it cathartic to meet others who have won. It's just very rare.

My intention was to encourage people to play responsibly, but not to convince people that they can't win. The truth is that anyone can win and you do have a chance if you play! And personally, I don't necessarily believe in the odds. I made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/NNCyZbeAYxQ/видео.html

    love the content. editing is pretty solid (personally i think that some of the visuals would be better as transparent or off to the side) good cuts and audio sounds great. The background is also supercool, but the microphone in the front kinda looks weird. I like the content and I like your story and the messages that you are sharing. I think too many people put everything on how much money they have, and your unique life story helps spread the higher paradigm. Yes, not having enough money can suck (eating instant noodles and beans everyday) but money isnt a be all end all. it's more of a means to an end, and definitely a big responsibility. Please keep it up dude. I feel like there is a message only you can share/a message people will only understand if it's you telling them. My biggest concern when I win the lottery is the danger of desperate people wanting to take the money or being so upset when we decline giving them any more money. How do you combat that?

    • @TimothySchultz
      @TimothySchultz  3 года назад +4

      That's an excellent question; thank you! Those things definitely do happen to some lottery winners. I think a few factors matter when it comes to that stuff, such as how much you win, where you live, who surrounds you, your background, and whether you win publicly or privately. All of these things matter. There is so much to say on this topic that I can't do it justice in a comment. I'll probably make a video about it sometime in the future. Here is the short answer:
      If you win a major jackpot publicly, you can then take steps to disappear from the public spotlight if you wish. This can really help. However, when it comes to people that remain in your life, it can be very difficult. At least that was the case for me. I can't speak for all lottery winners, but for myself, I had to learn how to grow thick skin and how to say "no." I did a lot for people after I won, but I could only do so much. A few people I helped kept coming back again and again. I had to learn to say no entirely and that they weren't my responsibility. It definitely wasn't easy, but I learned some life lessons along the way, which I think were very positive. My advice on how to combat that would be to stay true to yourself and only give what you want to give and what you can afford. If anyone doesn't understand when you say no after you explain the situation, it may be best to move on. Be true to yourself and do what you think is best, always.

      @@ThePumpkinPatch I think putting it into a trust which you are the director of might be a good idea.
      You can then honestly tell them to apply to the trust for funding and that lets you out of the possible confrontational "NO", but lets the person think it's perhaps not your decision.
      You may need to have a few people with you on that trust fund, but you can refuse or decline through the trust and tell them that the decision isn't solely yours.
      It's a nice way to control where and when your money is spent and by whom.
      This would be in UK, I don't know how it would work in any other countries, however there's bound to be a similar thing where you can have people apply for cash from your winnings, it doesn't necessarily need to be a charitable trust, but a way of weeding out the people who are just asking for the sake of asking.
      There was an excellent series on TV in the UK a few years ago, about a family who won a huge amount on a lottery, the mother opened a trust and did exactly that.
      I can't remember the name of it but it had the wonderful Alison Steadman in it. So if you look up her film page, you may find her.
      I'll try to find it for you and pop up a link for you.
      Some of the escapades by her family are hilarious.

    I would love to see an interview with Shane Missler and please ask him what his thoughts were prior to winning. Did he believe he would win? Did he have any signs or dreams? What was his first purchase? Did his parents expect anything from him? What about friends and other family members? What was his biggest purchase? What is he invested in? Where has he traveled? Does he make it known or keep it secret that he's a lottery winner? Oh, I have so many questions for him. Actually, for all of them.
    I'd also like to see an interview with Matt Myles. Same questions, in addition to asking him about his adventures, after he won, in detail. Like trips, women he met, scams he may have encountered and what's the most someone's asked for?
    Marie Holmes. I found her to be very interesting. Since seeing her on Iyanla, I'd like to know how or if her life has improved, does she now have her children living with her? Is she still financially stable? What did she invest in, if anything?
    Robert Bailey, he's in Harlem (or at least he was when he won). Get to know his story and his background.
    Pearlie Mae Smith in New Jersey. She claims she dreamt her lottery numbers. I bet she has a fascinating story.
    Miguel Pilgram in Fort Lauderdale. I'd like to know how his journey to transform his community is going.

    I had a dream of winning the lottery back in 2008, only could remember the first 3 numbers. They hit twice in a 3 week period. Since then, been getting hunches on where to buy tickets and if buying
    scratch offs I get at least my money back around 70% of the time. Haven't won anything hire than $1,000(won twice) but various $500 & $100 prizes. Had hunches to buy specific tickets at specific stores and while I don't win the prize, someone else does while buying that ticket at a different time. A couple of weeks ago when the Powerball was at $238 mil, I had a hunch and bought the ticket at the store where they would sell the winner. I didn't win it...😞 but somehow feeling that am getting close to my jackpot. I only buy when I feel the hunches. Sometimes I go a week or 2 without buying. Sigh...some day...

    • @TimothySchultz
      @TimothySchultz  4 года назад

      Thanks for your question! It's definitely mixed. Most people who play the lottery choose a quick picks, so more people win from quick picks. That doesn't mean if you choose your own you have less of a chance. It's all equal. The only reason more people win from quick picks is because more people are playing that way. Everyone has an equal chance.

    O hey. I saw your story on one of these lottery documentaries. I don't always feel bad when lotto winners loose it all, but in your case, I did. I have a passion for film myself, and I often tell people that if I won a 700 million dollar Powerball, I would buy a studio and bring Hollywood back from the dead. I think in your case, you were just so so young. I almost wish they could have just given you a yearly payout. Honestly, dude, I hope you win again! I think this time, you'd be prepared for it. The truth is though if I won, I'd likely throw most of it in a Fidelity account, and just live off the 7%. The key is to NEVER EVER touch the principal. If you can just do that, you've already won! Enjoyed the video. :)

    • @TimothySchultz
      @TimothySchultz  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for your thoughtful comment! There is a documentary out there that depicts me in a false and very misleading light. I assume this is what you watched. I did not lose it all, nor squander a bunch of money. The truth is that I participated in a French documentary about lottery winners a few years ago. It was later licensed to another company for an English version, with an English-narrated voice-over. This voice-over depicts me in an inaccurate and offensively false light. I do not approve of it. I do not claim to have always been perfect with money, but I've always had an understanding that I had to spend within a means and have lived pretty conservatively most of the time. I agree with you that not touching the principal is best if you can do that!
      I'm glad to hear that you also have a passion for film and your plan sounds awesome if/when you win a massive jackpot; it is definitely possible! I wish you good luck. And in spite of my disapproval of that documentary, I'm glad that you found my channel and really appreciate your support! It means a lot. 🙂🙏

    Hi Timothy. I remember you replied to me saying you played about once a week prior to winning. Do you recall for how long? (6 months? A full year?) Thanks for your questions! In the state where I won, you had to be 21 at the time. That was my age, so I had only been playing for a few months. My mentality when I did not win varied, depending on the day. I don't think I got too upset about it because I never spent more than I could afford to lose. I believed that I would win at some point because of having the dream about it, but I didn't know when exactly. I can say that when I saw that particular ticket, I felt it would win. Is that coincidence? Some people say yes, while others disagree. It's interesting...

    • @queencard1111
      @queencard1111 4 года назад +2

      @@TimothySchultz What exactly was the dream? Was it a scene where you were elated and jumping for joy? Or was it very mellow reaction to winning? The reason I ask all these questions is bc I think people deliberately and indeliberately create realities by using the power of their Subconscious minds. My theory for your particular case is that when you turned 21 and started playing for fun, the thought of winning got focalized and embedded in your subconscious mind. Which explains the dream. Dreams are by-products of whatever's going on in our Subconscious minds. The caveat to all this is that you could have easily lost the lottery if you had that dream and brushed it away with the belief that it meant nothing and you won't win. But instead, you had that dream and you ran with it. You had the belief you were going to win. Which is why you won.

    What was it like when you won and did you win over a million if you don't mind me asking sir" I've been playing powerball for a few for motivational purposes if that makes sense...

    I like the 10 million up stories the best. Some channels that were also on TV seem to find less private winners to interview. They might be a good contact to reach them.
    One thing that stands out in my mind on people asking for money. Every single ball player that Lent money never got it back. When they went broke. No one they helped offered.
    If I won , 10 percent in a foundation that helps organizations that help many people. Immediate family , yes , a one time gift.
    There were even a couple of winners who burned letters they did not recognized. It was because that's stressful.
    Friendships aren't based on money. The ones who excommunicated you are shallow and immature.

    I plan to live comfortably. I'm at retirement age. I have been blessed in my life. So, anything else. Is a cherry on top.
