That's a fair analogy. Considering how many old women I've seen driving Crown Vics or their Mercury counterparts, it's humorous to me to think somewhere in the Star Wars galaxy an elderly woman is driving at half impulse with her left blinker on, for hours, in a Mandalorian made War Machine.

The X-Wing pilots chasing Mando also knew it was a Razor Crest, even though he has no transponder. Even the traffic controller on Trask called it by name, when this was Mando's first visit. That model of ship was actually used by Mandalorians before the Clone Wars, so given that these two similar looking ship models were both used by Mandalorians, I think it's safe to say the Razorcrest might have been manufactured by the same group or company that also manufactured the Jaster's Legacy, these being two varieties of ship models they produced prior to the Clone Wars.

That said, it maeks sense that its similar to the slave 1, which was also just one of many of that model of ship, though one of the few used by bounty hunters.
If the razor crest IS a former Mandalorian vehicle, then it would make sense that the Republic's gunships resemble it, it came FIRST, and the kaminoens got advice from the Mandalorian'd they hired to train the clone troopers when designing it.

The Germans had already made the He 178, He 280, He 162 and a few others, but the Soviets had actually started making jet aircraft in the early 1930s (BI-1s). The US had the Lockheed P-80 near the end of the war. the Me 262 is the first operational jet fighter and the Meteor was the 2nd so that's probably what you're referencing, but there were a lot more operational jets then...they really took off in 1944 and later.

It's pre GAR, although interesting to note that the LAAT was manufactured by Rothana Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of Kuat Drive Yards. Kuat Systems Engineering manufactured the Firespray-31, potentially tying all three ship classes as loosely related, assuming the Razor Crest class was another product of Kuat.
"Domestic" Mandalorian ships would presumably be made by MandalMotors or Mandal Hypernautics, which have a design ethos distinct from the Kuat designed LAAT and Razor Crest.
Either way, it's fun seeing something designed/deployed prior to the Clone Wars/GAR, as it does add to the overall scope of the universe.

The Razor Crest ship doesn’t look the A-10, but the ship from “Firefly” ship called”Serenity”. The reason is that the engine is not only on the outside, but is right in the middle and the engine could turn, from the facing back to the front. Which turn the ship right away in case of emergency. If you what to go even further back; “Space above and Beyond” is a transport ship. With four engine. Two in the front, and two in the back. The engines could turn only horizontal or vertical.

From what was said it's entirely feasible to assume that the Republic Gunship used in the Clone Wars was an iteration of the Razor Crest which looks like it's more or less only capable of acting as a troop transport and light air support while the Republic needed heavy transport ships capable of carrying armored vehicles into the battle. This leads into the idea that they look similar as they were built by the same company and it being an earlier version of said gunships.

Wow, so much thought and effort for two vehicles which follow a similar design. Look at the Fairchild C-123 Provider and the Lockheed C-130 Hercules.

If you watch the episode "Bounty Hunters" from season 2 of The Clone Wars the ship the bounty hunters are in, seen in the barn before the fight over the village, is very similar in design to the Razor Crest, with slightly wider wings and a differant weaponry set up.
There's also a sighting of what looks like a Razor Crest in the big battle in Rise of Skywalker. These to appearances make me wonder if it had just been designed for The Mandalorian

This actually makes a lot of sense that it would be old republic mandalorian. I personally love the Razor Crest.
When I first saw it I thought of the Firefly tv show.

I like that it expands and introduces more variety of ships in the lore. Star Wars is both about adventure and world building considering it's scale.
I really hope they explore the universe with other shows and movies in the future introducing more things and establishing a wast and stable cannon.

there is much speculation that the razor crest line was made by the very same company as the LAAT gunship: Rothana Heavy Engineering, which is also the same company that made the equipment of the GAR. this also would explain the likeness to the LAAT, and also the fact companies as a standard practice develop new products on the basis of preexisting ones to save R&D costs and earn more in turnout in their products.
Like how Ford based the Ford Expedition off of the Ford Explorer

There's an episode in the clone wars with the mercenaries that were hired by the farmers to fight off Hondo and his pirates. They had one of these. The one they had looked a little smaller but it was the same ship.

I like many did think it was a retrofitted ship from the clone wars era... But after watching this I am glad to hear that it may be something from the Mandalorian army that dates back before the clone wars era.

They need to show more of these ships in a scene somewhere in the new season. Maybe them passing a junkyard with bits of razorcrests. Or a passing mention there are scrapped razorcrests that can be scrapped for parts somewhere. Settle it for good. Though they will likely not say anything explicitly until a new season starts and they need to merch the model.

"World War II fighter jets?" There were a few. However, they were more the exception. And with the exception of the shark-like Me 262, they tended to look goofy. It's during the post-war years and the Cold War where jet aircraft became the norm. It sounds like you're a bit confused about what belongs to what era.

I had already drawn connections to a ship in clone wars S2:EP17 that I believe was few bounty hunters' ship in the farmers' barn on Felucia. You can see it a couple times in the background when Obi-Wan talks with Hondo and then a female hunter. Looking back it does have a different cockpit and isn't long enough, but it could be a related line of ships with similar origin. Definitely shares the large dual turbine look. Just something I haven't seen anyone mention in theory videos on the subject yet. In any case, as usual I enjoyed the video- real life background from designers was interesting.

      @LoreStar  3 года назад +1

It's certainly true the two look more alike than the Razor Crest and the LAAT. Plus, many of the differences (elongated turbine wings, bulbous cockpit, etc.) could be "Clone Wars stylized animation". The biggest difference, as far as I can tell, is the lack of a hangar bay.

So I found the Razor Crest to be very familiar the first time I saw it. It reminded me of an early episode of the Clone Wars. I scrubbed through the episodes and found a smaller but very similar design in season 2 episode 17 (at timestamp 4min 17sec).

Wasn’t this type of ship flown by that bounty hunter who was hired to defend the cilum (my best guess as to spelling of it) and the farmers who worked on the farm. It was in the clone wars episode where anakin, obi wan, and ashoka were all stranded on the planet (I think it was felucia or something)

If you have no idea what I’m talkin bout. Please look it up cuz it looks even more similar than the Republic Gunship does. Also I believe it was named “Halo”

Doesn't sound too farfetched that its a mando. Mando armor and blaster tech is quite popular in the galaxy and is often recognized. In rebels, Hondo immediately recognized Sabines blasters as Webstarrs, Queel immediately recognized Din as a mandalorian.
