Abandoned Trading Post and Diner

While driving through Interstate 40, we came across this abandoned trading post and diner in the middle of the Arizona desert, just off of Historic Route 66. This place was known as Twin Arrows Trading Post, this also included a gas station, a gift shop, and a Valentine’s Diner, built in the late 1940s. This place thrived during the 1950s and 1960s. Unfortunately, the new construction of Interstate 40 led to a massive decline in traffic and customers for this place along with the rest of Route 66. Thank you for this. We drove a little on the old Route 66 some years back. Always wanted to do the whole drive. Sadly with California the way it is and Chicago it won't happen. Which is a shame. 😢

Do people always carry paint spray cans with them? It's like they never saw a place that didn't call them to mess it up. There is no beauty in graffiti. It's just a sign of decay, criminal activity and lost souls who just can't fit in, never tried, and likely as not on government aid.
