  • This video is titled zazen meditation explained -- I draw on my years of practice and 4 months living as a Zen monk to explain what zazen meditation is, how it is unique, and how to do it.
    Zazen is the style of meditation practiced in the Zen Buddhist tradition. I believe it is fairly aligned with what we might call "mindfulness meditation". It is a meditation wherein awareness itself is the object of the meditation. Rather than anchoring the focus to the breathe, body, or something else. Zazen is resting in open awareness -- it is sometimes explained as "just sitting" (shikantaza in Japanese).
