What a score, Carl! I always pick up sealed CDs when I can find them for under $2. Very nice Bangles set. Queen, Ben E King, Bowie, and the Cars - Brilliant. I bet the Cuban musicians comp is going to be excellent. Cheers

Hi Mark. I regularly pick up sealed CD's for 50 pence or less - usually just for the clean cases, and sometimes because it's a quality CD. There's a big pile of CD's already put aside for some more videos. All the best.

Hi 👋 Greetings from New Zealand. I saw David Bowie in concert here in NZ back in 1978. It was his Stage tour concert. Good memory for me as I was 18 years young at the time. I would like that Bangles Gold cd set. Because it has remixes. I like that. I have just a best of hits from the group on cd. I liked the British Two Tone Ska music scene. Bands such as The Specials , Bad Manners , Selecter , and The Beat. From Carl.

Hi Carl. I never saw Bowie live. I did have a chance to see him play with Tin Machine but passed ... Usually when I show charity shop CD finds, I've already listened to them and can give a quick opinion on the music. As these were all still sealed, I couldn't do that. If I do like the Bangles remixes, I'll mention that in a future video. As a general rule though, I'm not a fan of remixes ... The 2 Tone/ska revival bands were massive here in the UK. The Specials, Madness and the Beat were my favourites. All the best from the UK.

Queen Greatest .. The Blue and the Red that you have is excellent, Sean approves as well ! True.. I appreciate Queen much more in the last 20 years than before.. DIONNE !!! 🤠 Your Bowie find is my favorite so far..

The Bowie CD is the one I want to listen to first. I'm curious to hear the interpretations of the songs. He had a great band at that time with Adrian Belew and Carlos Alomar.

I love finding sealed Cd's at thrift stores ! I have so many and I have only opened very few.. I figure someday I will sell some as I have at least 5000 Cd's ! I like some Hip Hop and Rap as well, although.. I am pretty select about it though. I like your Bangles comp and the 3rd disc is alright by me " Hazy Shade Of Winter" is a good cover IMHO

I've seen Public Enemy live a couple of times. They put on a good show. I agree, the Bangles did a good cover of 'Hazy Shade Of Winter'.

That's an incredible deal for those CDs Carl, especially those three for a pound one's. I rarely see sealed CDs for sale for so cheap. I'll have to check out that Jeff Lynne's ELO one since I going to see him in concert in August in Seattle. Nice pick-ups again Carl!

Hi Tom. The three for a pound ones are from a current 'honey hole' charity shop. Bruce Springsteen's 'Only The Strong Survive', which I showed recently, came from the same shop. There's quite a few more to show from various shops ... I would have quite liked to see Jeff Lynne on his last UK tour, but the ticket prices were a bit much (although actually in line with what you're now expected to pay for arena gigs). Enjoy the show!! ... On a different subject, have you heard of the band Shake Some Action! from Seattle? They've been around for a few years. I was listening to their new EP on Bandcamp. It might get a mention in the next Power Pop Shakers video, alongside the Young Fresh Fellows reissue. Thanks as always for watching and commenting.

@@carltweed942 I've never heard of Shake Some Action. There's so many bands out here I can never keep track. I bought the cheapest seats for ELO (way in the back) for about $60 each. The pricing for that show is ridiculous (like many shows). Some average seats for ELO half way back can go for as much as $250. I'll stay with the cheap seats.

@@tarrtruck2869 $60 isn't too bad. I mainly go to small venues where you can still see a band for around £20 ... Seattle certainly has a lot of bands.

As I like to say Carl, we're in the golden age of buying CD's - look at these prices you're getting and sealed. Gotta love these Charity shops and thrift stores. Incredible deals. We're sure sitting pretty, if CD's ever come back like vinyl, but that's not why we buy them anyway. That Bowie live is fairly rare - NEVER find that used even in my various used record stores. That's a great live album - better than the official Stage album for sure. Glorious finds at amazing prices.

    • @carltweed942

Hi Alan. New vinyl prices are just ludicrous; and there's more and more issues with poor pressings. Even the price of new CD box sets is getting out of hand; for example the super deluxe Lennon 'Mind Games' for £1,300+ (?!!) ... The Bowie live album will definitely be the first CD I listen to. Thanks for your support. Take care.

some interesting stuff carl. be curious to see what ya think of the other Cars songs since seems like you’re not too familiar with them. i think i always assumed they were popular in UK as well but guess not. that mustard plug cover that’s one for the archives. i havent been having much luck in charity shops lately. it’s been months since i found anything worth picking up.

    • @carltweed942

Hi Steve. The two singles off the Cars' first album were Top 10 hits in the UK (unlike in the US), and then we seemed to lose interest. 'Drive', which was featured during the Live Aid coverage, was their only other big hit here ... Keep looking in the thrift stores Steve. I'm sure your luck will change. At least you seem to find some good stuff in your secondhand record shop. All the best!
