I'm a lifelong music fan and record collector. I have in the past edited my own fanzine, and also contributed to other fanzines and music magazines.
My RUclips channel will cover power pop, garage rock, punk rock, psychedelia, jangle pop, paisley underground, indie pop and anything else which takes my fancy.
Expect to see videos on old vinyl and CDs I've been listening to during Lockdown 3 here in the UK. There will also be the odd video on miscellaneous music-related topics.
I'm looking forward to reading your comments. Hopefully I'll point you in the direction of some music you've not heard before, and vice versa. As much as I love the all-time greats like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Byrds, Pink Floyd, Clash etc., it's always exciting to discover something new.

MUSIC-RELATED BOOK REVIEW #1: David Hepworth 'Nothing Is Real'
Very cool finds as always, Carl. I have some Tommy James in my collection and, of course that Bob Dylan. The ORB is very appealing. Jagjaguwar is a really great label, but some pieces of vinyl I have from them are badly pressed 😔Fabulous prices on these.
Hi Brian. The more I see of your videos, the more amazed I become at the breadth of your record collection. So I'm only very slightly surprised that you've got some Tommy James in your collection. Thanks for watching.
Some great finds there Carl as usual Thanks for that Ian
Thanks Ian. It was great to find some bands new to me.
Some great pickups for very little cash Carl..I Need to hear Infidels again, it's been a very long time. The Swedish progers sound an interesting listen and Dave Edmunds is always consistent. All the best. Rob.
Hi Rob. It was all about the blind buys this time round. Some real bargains to be had on CD. I hope you're doing well. Cheers.
Great pick ups and at great prices 👍
I did well on the blind buys.
You seem to find some interesting CDs in charity shops Carl, you must have to wade through tons of Susan Boyle, Charlotte Church and Pan Pipe discs, or us that just me. I've subscribed, so I will be looking forward to your new discoveries. Get them while you can!
When I find Susan Boyle CDs, I often put them at the front so it looks like that's all they are selling! It doesn't look like the supply is drying up yet. The only problem I'm finding is some charity shops no longer selling CDs. A charity shop I liked said last week that they are no longer taking donations for CDs because they can't recycle them. Thanks a lot for subscribing.
@@carltweed942 Yes, I've noticed similar in the few I frequent. It doesn't help when you have Oxfam syphoning of the rarer discs and selling them for mint discogs prices online. I would have thought getting folks in stores would be encouraged if there were better stock.
@@keitholiver1299 Oxfam tends to over-price its CDs - especially in its specialist shops selling books and media. I do best with smaller charities in market towns where you very rarely see CDs for more than a pound.
I love I'm From Barcelona. But then I'm a sucker for a bit of Twee Pop, as it is called. Scandinavians, and Swedish especially, seems to have an inbuilt ability to knock out catchy tunes. Maybe there's something in the diet? Cheers - Hedley
Hi Hedley. I'm so glad I picked up the I'm From Barcelona CD. It's a real life-enhancing listen.
Hi Carl. You have a local record shop then? That's good. I'd like to hear Dylan's infidels, was that the last of his Christian trilogy or after? Slow train coming, saved and .......? U.F.Orb still have the vinyl. Showed last night on Iain's livestream. Challenge was to find 'chilled' albums. Had to dig a few out on the spot. Cheers, Martin.
Hi Martin. I watched a bit of your latest video on TV this morning. I'll get round to watching it properly in the next few days. I hope your latest move isn't too stressful. I'm probably in a minority, but I really like Bob Dylan's Christian trilogy - 'Slow Train Coming', 'Saved' and 'Shot Of Love'. I picked up 'Shot Of Love' in a charity shop recently and I've already listened to it. It will be in my next charity shop finds video. I showed 'Saved' in a charity shop finds video a few months ago. 'Infidels' is his first album after the Christian trilogy. Like a lot of brilliant songwriters - Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Nick Cave, for example - his lyrics quite often draw from the Bible for inspiration. I'd say it's well worth getting. I did try looking for Iain's stream last night, but couldn't find it. I might dip into the re-run to see what you say about 'U.F. Orb'. I think it has aged well.
charity shops,, thrift stores, are always good places to get used music cd's,people dump em off all the time, here in the states.
Hi Dave. It's an enjoyable day out to go visiting a small town with a few charity shops. I can almost guarantee finding some quality CDs. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Carl. Both Dave Edmunds and Joe Ely are criminally under-appreciated here in the United States. I pick up anything I can find by both. Thank you for another insightful video.
Thanks William for your kind words. I'm shocked to hear that Joe Ely is under-appreciated in the US.
three for a pound - wow - you sure are finding fantastic CD deals Carl. Infidels is one of my all time favorite Dylan albums. Fantastic album. "Steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and they make you king" - great line. Great finds you got there.
Hi Alan. I've got two charity shop 'honey holes' at the moment selling CDs at 3 for a pound. Not sure how long it will last, but at the moment I'm almost guaranteed to find some gems every week. I'm buying them quicker than I can listen to them. Thanks for watching!
@@carltweed942 Yea - similar problem - ever growing backlog - so much music and so little time. but 3 for a pound - that's amazing.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow You must be due a 'backlog to catalogue' video.
@@carltweed942 wow. Thanks for catching that. Yea. Soon
Some bargains there Carl. I'll look out for that Dave Edmunds comp. A couple of favourites in my collection there in the Richard Hawley and Wolf People. I've had all the Wolf People releases and Jack Sharp's recent outings as Large Plants but I think Steeple is still my favourite...cheers Dale
Hi Dale. Thank goodness for blind buys, as I'd still have been none the wiser about Wolf People. Cheers, Carl
Nice pick-ups! Those blind buys at three for a pound are a great deal. At those prices you can't lose. Infidels by Bob Dylan is a great record. Big fan of Dave Edmunds as well. I bought a blind buy of Joe Ely live a few years ago and I still play it. Thanks for sharing again Carl.
Hi Tom. Yes it was all about the blind buys this time round. Also, Joe Ely very rarely turns up in charity shops. Thanks for all your support!
Yes Carl, that Orb has become my favourite, aged better than the debut. 'Towers of Dub' is a fantastic. I've had my fingers burnt with Carl perkins records. , seems to be some licensing complications, full of re-recordings. Have you seen the Vinyl Hunters latest video?, wonderful collector from Southend, mentions 'Mighty Baby'
Hi Harris. Yes, I've watched the latest Vinyl Hunters video. Loved it. He has a knack of finding obsessive record collectors. Amazing to see so many rare English progressive rock LPs in one place. One of the rare records he showed was Tonton Macoute. I picked that up at a car boot sale for 20 pence in the last couple of years. I showed it in a video and no one commented on it. The Carl Perkins CD was only 50 pence, and was still quite listenable, so I wasn't too disappointed. 'Tower Of Dub' is indeed wonderful. I've also been playing another charity shop find you probably know - Dreadzone's 'Second Light'. It's quite dubby at times. They were Peel favourites back in the day. 'A Jug Of Love' LP by Mighty Baby is great. They grew out of the superb mod band the Action. Amongst the Action's best tracks were 'Shadows And Reflections' and 'I'll Keep Holding On'. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hi Carl I’m always picking up cheap CDs it’s so hard to resist them for giveaway prices .. thanks for your detailed reviews some interesting blind buys. Plus thats a Dylan album I like. Cheers Carl 👍
Yes, I was really lucky with the blind buys. Wolf People and Mazes were great new discoveries. Talking of new discoveries, I've just been listening to the Bug Club, from Wales. You might like them. I'd like to see some of your CD finds. Cheers Rob!
There's not a lot of love for that John Lennon title. I think there are some great tracks, and his vocal performance on "Stand By Me" alone is worth the cost. Chuck Berry is solid gold all the way through. There are some great pick-ups as usual. Cheers, Carl
Hi Mark. I'd sooner listen to Lennon doing rock 'n' roll covers with obvious love and respect, as opposed to some of his throwaway original songs. 'Stand By Me' vocally is out of this world. I've actually got a bit of a backlog on charity shop CD finds which I've not yet had a chance to listen to. Best wishes from the UK.
JT has a good channel with travelogue style i just don't have the time ATM to make videos or even much crate digging anywhere this year.
Hi Martin. I've noticed you posting a few comments on videos. I hope to see you back soon. Try to find some time to relax.
@@carltweed942 thank you Carl. That is hugely appreciated.
I'm not familiar with Go Kart Mozart, but I think their album cover is great. I also like Steve's laid-back style. Like you, he always introduces me to new bands. Good luck in the contest! Jt is number one ☝️ Cheers, Carl
Mark, you may know Lawrence from Go Kart Mozart's first band Felt. They recorded a number of albums for the Creation label back in the 80s/90s. I enjoyed seeing the VCLT you got from Steve! Take care.
Hi Carl, great contest entry. Excellent support for JT! Not familiar with any of the records you showed. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Hi Steve. JT is a great chap. I thought I was already subscribed to your channel. It turns out I wasn't, so I've gone ahead and clicked that button. I'll be over in a minute to see your entry in JT's contest. Thanks for watching.
Some great fanzines and mags there. My personal faves from the 70's on were Kicks, Ugly things, Ungawa, Shadders on me lungs, Bucketful of brains and Outtasite which I have every issue of all.
Ugly Things, Kicks and Bucketfull Of Brains were amongst my favourites. BOB was the first place I read about all of the Paisley Underground bands.
@@carltweed942 Yes I always devoured the review sections of those and then went into town on Friday to spend most of my wages on the vinyl from Selectadisc in my then home city of Nottingham.
Great choices which coincidently I also have all of what you showed in my collection! and it's nice to see a fellow fan of The Flamin' groovies, The Pirates and The Uni boys. I think I also spotted a Roy Loney and the phantom movers lp in the background on one of your other videos? who I'm also a big fan of. Lastly sorry for the late comment to this video but I've only recently discovered you and am working my way back through your previous videos!.
I've already said it before, but we certainly share a lot of the same interests. I was a massive fan of the Flamin' Groovies / Roy Loney / the Barracudas. You don't need to apologise. It's good that the old videos still pick up views (although my presentation style could be improved on the earliest ones).

Very nice entry especially Learel and Hardy. I didn't know Woolworthy, I'll give them a listen.Cheers Mike
Cheers Mike. The best place to hear Woolworthy is on their website at woolworthy.com. If you think you like them, Aston (Boss Tuneage label owner) did an excellent video on their career on Boss Tuneage's RUclips channel.
Steve Herold? Really? Of all the record collectors you pick him? Cool? That fool talks to toy robots….. But seriously maximum respect dude. Always look forward to your insightful takes on your collection. I don’t know about this JT guy, sounds like a real Nevada tosser. Hahah. best of luck in his contest dude!

@@STEVEHEROLD I've not been to a record shop in London since the mid-90s. I know there are a few shops in Berwick Street in Soho and surrounding streets (Reckless, Sister Ray, Sounds Of The Universe, Third Man etc). If you saw Norman Maslov's videos from when he went to London in August, he visited a few. If you finish up spending the day in Brighton, there are many record shops. I've never been, but I know it's become a trendy place in recent years.
Cool recod choices and an excellent choice with your Steve Herold shout-out.
Steve Herold is one of the best. Thanks Brian.
Hi Carl, new to your channel but as a lifelong fan of powerpop, glam and bubblegum music fan here in Manchester UK I'm loving your content especially the playlist of tracks and music documentary's. I also have that Laurel & Hardy album too as a big comedy fan also. I have also subbed so I look forward to more posts.
Hi Ricky. I'm glad you like the playlists. I dip into the playlist of music documentaries myself when there's nothing on TV. I recently re-watched part 3 of the BBC's 'Punk Britannia'. It sounds like we have a lot in common. I picked up a double DVD of Joyce Grenfell at the BBC today. Thanks for subscribing.
@@carltweed942Good find I love Joyce! Yes my wife and I pretty much live in the past re comedy right from the music hall days of the 30's /40's through 50's and probably the 70's as I grew up with stuff like Rising damp, On the buses etc!.
@@rickybruske7795 The 70s was a golden age of UK situation comedies. As a family we probably watched nearly all of them. I'm fascinated by the old music hall acts too.
@@carltweed942 Yes the 70's were definately a golden age for comedy. Regarding the music hall stuff I bought a large cd boxset comp of music hall songs a few years back as it was on a list of all time top 10 favourite comps of Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne the list also included the Fading Yellow series,Nuggets, piccadilly circus etc.
@@rickybruske7795 I just had a look for that music hall box set on Amazon. It's not currently available.
I do have the Rubinoos debut from 1977 which I quite like but I didn't keep up with them. Did Go-Kart Mozart get their name from the Springsteen song "Blinded By The Light?" I enjoyed hearing about the Laurel & Hardy record. I will have to check out Woolworthy. I found that I was subscribed to your channel as well. Cheers.
Hi Randy. Yes, Go-Kart Mozart got their name from 'Blinded By The Light'. However they are definitely nothing like Springsteen! You may like Woolworthy. They deserve to have a bigger profile.
Carl.. loved your entry. Good luck on your entry.
Thanks! I'll be watching your entry very soon. Good luck.

JT's Record Room and Steve Herold's channel are great. They both travel a lot. I've seen some of Steve's short comedy films ( Death Of An Umbrella Salesman, Waimea and Bum Runner.) Pretty creative stuff if you ask me. Looks like a great entry Carl, good luck!
I've found 'Death Of An Umbrella Salesman' and 'Bum Runner' on RUclips. I'll watch them soon. Cheers Tom!
Blimey 😮 ,I've got that Laurel & Hardy record Carl,i didn't expect to see that 👍 Good luck in the contest.
Hi Nick. I'm working my way through some of the other entrants in JT's contest. I'll be over to your channel very shortly. I'm not surprised that you've got that Laurel and Hardy album, with you being a comedy fan too. For me Laurel and Hardy are simply the best. I would laugh so much when I watched them aged 6, and if anything I love them even more now. Good luck to you in the contest. I think there's a chance of a clean sweep by the UK contingent.
Thank you for the thoughtful words about my channel, Carl. Love your foodie covers. My favorite is Rubinoos, and I do agree that their earlier 70s output is the best ! Nice shout-out for Steve Herold. I have seen two of his indie films. He is a pro, for sure! Woolworth, I will listen, right after this 🎵 You are entered into the drawing with Sean doing the honors, randomly picking 3 winners on Sept. 29th Sunday 1 pm PST. Thanks for taking the time to make an entry, Carl 👍
Hi JT. You were quick off the mark. I keep hoping you'll get over to the UK sometime, so we can organise a UK meet-up with all your friends here. I could introduce you to charity shops! They nearly all have a friendly atmosphere and of course you never know what you'll find. I looked Steve Herold up on the IMDb website. I didn't realise how successful he has been. It's funny how you can watch someone on RUclips and just know you are watching a kindred spirit. I definitely feel that with Steve and you. I must see if I can find any of his films on RUclips. I'm looking forward to seeing the draw. What are the odds on a clean sweep for the UK?
Haha.😆 The Las Vegas line for a UK sweep are 2 to 1 right now for you guys over the pond ! I was hoping for a 3 day lay-over next spring in London but my wife booked us through Paris for 3 days. I could come to London for the day, or .. You could come to Paris ? We'll figure it out, I'm sure. It was great having Steve visit me here in Reno, he drove 500 miles from LA to get here !
It would be fun to visit a charity shop, and possibly, one or two good record stores ! It would be too much fun to see you and others over in England !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 We think of distances different in the UK to what you do in the States. For us 40 miles is quite a long way! A meet up in either London or Paris could be doable.
Alright.. Well see ! We are coming to Paris, for sure.. 3 days. One of them, I could leave for London in the morning, and return in the evening to Paris. Not sure, yet.
A great selection of albums, genres and artists. I particularly Like Lennon's Rock n Roll album, for me that was the album that finally showcased what a great vocalist he was. His harmonies with Paul on the Beatles albums were awesome, but this really brought out his voice. I guess it was the material he was performing, the songs that inspired him in the first place, and I can imagine it brought the memories flooding back to him from his days as a Quarryman..
Thanks for your comment. I've always thought that Lennon's vocals on 'Stand By Me' was one of his best. I agree with you about the material on 'Rock 'n' Roll' too. The pressure was off having to write the songs, and these covers were close to his heart. It must surely have made him feel nostalgic for the old days.
That Jimmy Smith LP is off the scale great. Walter Becker album is also good.
I agree totally with you about the Jimmy Smith CD. It took me a little while to warm to the Walter Becker CD. I really like it now.
The Rock n’Roll left out the best ones which were Be My Baby. a personal fav of Lennon, as well as To Know Her is to Love Her, Angel Baby, another Spector produced anthem.. John had wanted these songs included as that’s where he saw the sales but because of the the bootleg Roots album he was forced by the record company to issue it earlier than scheduled just 5 months after Walls and Bridges rather than waiting 10-12 months.
Hi JJ. Thanks for the extra information about 'Rock 'n' Roll'. I've got 'Angel Baby' on the 'Gimme Some Truth' CD. It's OK. Do you think there will be a box set for 'Rock 'n' Roll'? I'm not sure. It would be interesting to hear more of the Phil Spector sessions. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Another great Power Pop Shakers show Carl. I've seen Fastbacks a couple times in the '90's and they drew a great crowd. X is another band I like that I've seen several times over the years, looking forward to their new release since Alphabetland (so is Steve Herold.) Big fan of Love and Johnny E. That upcoming album would be interesting to hear. Nice selection of bands again to checkout, you’re always doing your homework!
Hi Tom. I thought of Steve when I saw that X had a new album out. I don't recall X ever having played in the UK. The Fastbacks video was a real surprise when it turned up in my recommended videos. Arthur Lee was a genius. I've probably told you before that I saw him live a couple of times, and one of those times he was playing 'Forever Changes' with a string section. It's a long wait I'm afraid for the Love album. Best wishes from the UK!
Hi Carl, This is another intriguing collection of tracks. Once again, there is so much here that is new to me, including Laughing. I'll keep my eyes open for that one!
There is a good write up on the Laughing LP at Paste Magazine's website. Also, you can stream the album on Bandcamp. I should have said in the video that it's available in North America on the Celluloid Launch label. So many good Canadian guitar rock bands at the moment! Thanks for watching.
hey carl. another interesting list. i need to pick up that new X album. I agree Alphabetland was a nice “return to form” for them and i’m looking forward to this one. i saw them last summer and am gonna go see them again this October. I know they’re claiming this is The End. But we’ll see.
Hi Steve. I thought of you when I heard that X had a new record out. It must be hard for a band to say this is The End and give up all the adulation from their fans. The Bond film 'Never Say Never Again' is on TV at the moment. Maybe that should be the motto instead. Thanks for being the first to leave a comment! I can relax a bit now.
I have that John Lennon LP. The first Genesis record has been released so many time! I have played it a few times but never really got into it. I shoudl try again. I am not sure I knew that Walter Becker released solo records. Nice finds.
Hi Brian. Anthony Phillips mentioned in a recent interview that there is a new mix of 'From Genesis To Revelation'. It's not been officially announced yet, but the assumption is that it will be on Cherry Red's progressive rock label Esoteric. I'm pretty sure this will be the definitive version - after years of re-issues not endorsed by the band. I'll be curious to hear it. Cheers!
Damon is pretty much an adaptable musical genius certainly compared to Oasis..... You continue to find some diverse cool stuff Carl. What you said about the Beatles may well have been true too I'm sure they'd have mellowed and sorted out their differences. I didn't know Lennon's mother was a Julia i knew his first wife was. Hope you are having a good summer. Martin.
Hi Martin. I'm finding so many quality CDs at the moment. The Beatles track 'Julia' from the White Album is about John's mother. Looking forward to seeing your next video. You've been quiet recently. All the best.
@@carltweed942 thanks for explaining. I'm an amateur really.
More great finds Carl - love that Aimee Mann album - she's a terrific artist. UFO's Stranger of course classic fantastic live album. Lots of great stuff there.
Hi Alan. I really enjoyed that Aimee Mann album. I've got another one to listen to as well. Thanks for watching, Carl
@@carltweed942 thanks Carl. Glad you liked that one. Definitely one of her best imho. Maybe her best. She has an excellent live cd dvd collection if you enjoy live albums.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow I'll keep a look out for the live CD/DVD. All the best!
@@carltweed942 it's great - you'll love it.
Hi Carl- nice CD pickups, best score imo Bachelor #2 disc, one of her best albums. I’m a big Aimee Man fan also really like her husband Michael Penn’s output and Jon Brion. Cheers! Matt
Hi Matt. I really liked 'Bachelor No. 2'. I also picked up 'Lost In Space', but I haven't got round to listening to it yet. I'm a big fan of Jon Brion. Elsewhere in the comments, JT has also pointed me in the direction of Michael Penn. I'll be giving him a listen for the first time very soon. Thanks for watching.
hey carl. always interesting to see what you’re picking up. appreciate the work you put into your capsule reviews. i know i say that all the time. and then ya end things by mentioning ya picked up another giant haul for nothing. man wish the thrift stores in states were like that.
Hi Steve. Thanks for all your positive feedback. I did have a few months when it was getting hard to find stuff, but there's one charity shop at the moment that I go to every week and they seem to have a never-ending supply of 3 CDs for a pound. JT and Alan Rosenberg, for example, do well in the thrift stores.Take care, Carl
@@carltweed942 yeh i have luck in them here and there but not on any consistent level. i did just hit a jackpot with vinyl surprisingly cause i never ever find vinyl worthy in thrift stores. it’s always just junk.
@@STEVEHEROLD It's getting really rare to find decent vinyl in charity shops.
Another great video Carl, thanks for sharing and providing you insights. I love that Aimee Mann, I named one of my children after her not long after this album came out. Thrift shops, as we call them her in America, are rapidly starting to raise their prices on CDs and other media - sometimes as much as $4 a disc (about 3 GBP). Looking forward to your next video.
Hi William. Thanks for the kind words. Whenever I post a video, I always wonder if anybody will be interested. That's a lovely story about choosing the name for your daughter. Most charity shops here are either stopping stocking physical media or practically giving it away. Cheers.
Wow what a great variety of music. a whos who if you will, thanks for sharing!
Hi Doug. Thanks for watching. All the best.
Stand By Me was a hit over here as well ! Aimee Mann's 3rd is excellent. Gorillaz B Sides looks interesting. Im a Jimmy Smith and Kenny Burrell fan for life 😊
Hi JT. Aimee Mann is definitely a class act. I picked up another of her CDs in the same charity shop ... I've got two or three Jimmy Smith CDs, and odd tracks on comps. I thought 'The Cat' was excellent danceable jazz. Cheers.
Jimmy and Kenny are so good together, and I love Aimee Mann music !
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Do you know Jon Brion's album 'Meaningless'?
No, I do not.. I'll look him up. 🎵
I see he was in Til Tuesday with our Aimee Mann.
Nice pick ups Carl. I’ve had the Lennon on vinyl for a long time, I find it very Lennon and enjoyable. I do enjoy Gorillaz and have a few of theirs on vinyl. I haven’t heard Leo for ages. Mike
Hi Mike. I wonder if we'll eventually get a boxset for 'Rock 'n' Roll' ... I can't get 'Clint Eastwood' and '19-2000' out of my head ... There was a brilliant compilation called 'Zigzag: 20 Junkshop Soft Rock Singles' which came out at least a decade ago. It included Leo Sayer's 'Why Is Everybody Going Home', which quickly became a favourite of mine. So I was really pleased to find his first album. I also picked up his second album 'Just A Boy' at the same time. All the best.
Great pick-ups you've got their for the price Carl, you can't go wrong on those. I did not know those John Lennon stories you told, i'm surprised I never heard them before. I like that record. Big fan of Jimmy Smith and the B-3 organ. I've got several of his stuff but not The Cat. I have that Chuck Berry CD and it never gets old. UFO and Jackson Browne are also great for the collection. Can't wait to see what else you got. See ya next time.
Hi Tom. The John Lennon stories about his mother were new to me too. I found them on the official John Lennon website. There are excellent articles about all of his albums there. There must be loads of material for a 'Rock 'n' Roll' boxset ... That Jimmy Smith album is magical. The title track is guaranteed to get you dancing ... You can't go wrong with Chuck Berry ... I'll be working my way through the latest CD finds over the next few days. All the best.
Good finds there Carl. Some quite or entirely unknown to me. Gorillaz D Sides is good’n. Why were some record companies so in love with their logo? I’m not more likely to buy a Genesis CD just because there’s a giant London logo on it am I? Jackson Brown. Several of entries in my competition features him because… he is of Norwegian descent 😊 Enjoy your great haul Carl 🤩
Hi Morten. Gorillaz are great. I keep singing '19-2000' to myself! That track reminds me a bit of The Go! Team ... There are actually quite a few record labels where I will buy anything they put out; so sometimes it helps me if the logo is big. Cheers. P.S. Do you know the Norwegian band I Was A King? If you don't, check out the RUclips video for 'Frozen Disease'. A couple of the band have also recorded as The No Ones with Peter Buck.
@@carltweed942 No, I haven’t heard of them. I’m not a very good Scandinavian VC’er as my personality in many cases keeps me, or kept me away from Norwegian bands in particular. I got those Gorillaz sides on vinyl back at some RSD in… 2022? I was very pleased. Maybe you should give my contest a try, being so good at finding Norwegian artists (who are now, Americans, brits, Canadians etc). Keep up the great videos Carl 😊
@@MortenAastad I just uploaded I Was A King's new single to my Power Pop Shakers playlist. Some other Norwegian power pop bands I love - American Suitcase, Beezewax, The Dahlmanns, the Yum Yums.
@@carltweed942 I will have to make a note about those Carl 😊
we saw them always in Fulham at the Lord Salisbury
Hi Graham. I never got to see Ducks Deluxe live. It must have been a great atmosphere.
@@carltweed942 The place always rocked when The Ducks were on loud and just right for the Lord Salisbury
Interesting mix Carl. I really should investigate Uriah Heep more deeply, as I just have a CD comp and like hammond rock. I need to get that Soft Cell album back into the collection. I have the singles and 12"s. I have so many CDs stacked-up but recently I've been enjoying the Now 12" series. Cheers Dale
Hi Dale. I'd somehow got it into my head that I didn't like David Byron's vocals. I have to say though his vocals are excellent on 'Look At Yourself'. Ken Hemsley's hammond organ is what makes it special for me. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
Try Utavoxx Vienna and Peter Gabriel Shock the Monkey (Peter Gabriel 4)
Thanks for watching and commenting. Good tracks.
