@@PLArseneau You don't understand... I am mind blown by this... there's no... I would have assumed large diffusion screens on high stands and soft boxes and a whole structure... this is amazing!!
@@orcanimal Its essentially just like lighting an interview... beach side acts as a negative fill, back light comes from the sun setting in the back of them, and on their left side there is a soft source coming from the sun being behind the mountains, bouncing on the sea, and lighting their faces.
Were the shots by the beach quite underexposed or high ISO? I can see a lot of CMOS smearing and general noise especially in the dark hair/clothes. It's even more pronounced in the Vimeo version with less compression.
Yup. I was shooting high iso to get a nicer highlight roll off/retention but I pushed it a little too much. Downsides of shooting with cheaper cameras for sure.
@@PLArseneau Tbf that smearing only appears when things are around 3/4 stops underexposed. Most cameras would struggle in that situation. I think downside of only shooting natural light would be a more accurate statement.
This is definitely one of the best Leica R + Blackmagic videos I’ve seen.
@@TheJ_G cheers!

@@PLArseneau I guess... you've got an eye for it that's for sure.
