The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

3 weeks before this performance, on December 17, 1969, Tiny Tim married Miss Vicki. They were still celebrating their honeymoon.
like a bad accident you cant help yourself from looking.....but Tiny Tim was all about the music was all about keeping it alive and for that alone i believe he deserves respect...

Wow, I've always wanted to see this! Thank you so much for posting this rare video! This is from the same episode on which Tiny sang "Earth Angel" which was posted earlier. Back in the 1990's, Tiny was doing an interview in which he was told that a Best of Sullivan show had been aired which featured his performance of "Earth Angel". He said something along the lines of "I also sang some songs with Miss Vicki on that episode, didn't they show that too?" The interviewer said no, and he seemed a little disappointed. Ever since I read that interview, I've wanted to see this long lost performance. I'm so glad to finally see it! Tiny loved older music, and got to sing many excerpts of songs he loved here.
"Sweet and Lovely" had been a big hit in 1931 and was recorded by two of Tiny's favorite singers, Bing Crosby and Russ Columbo.
"Honeymoon Hotel" was introduced in the 1933 Busby Berkeley musical, "Footlight Parade" starring James Cagney, Ruby Keeler, Dick Powell and Joan Blondell.
"You'll Never Know" was introduced by Alice Faye in the 1943 movie, "Hello, Frisco, Hello" and won the Academy Award for best song. It became a standard recorded by many artists.
"Because of You" was the first big hit for Tony Bennett, back in 1951, and also charted for Jan Peerce.
"Happy Together" was the biggest hit for the Turtles, and was a more contemporary song at the time.
Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki were married less than a month before this appearance, live on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, hence the inclusion of the "Wedding March", traditionally played at weddings.

To me, the name Tiny Tim is synonymous with the word icon. I wasn’t around when he made his debut but people told me that when he did, he was viewed as a novelty act due to his falsetto voice. I guess that was a case of making a first impression. Yet from what I’ve heard and seen, Tiny was more talented than what people gave him credit for. He had a wide vocal range, he played various instruments, and he was an amazing entertainer. I can’t say much about Miss Vicky’s performance but I give credit to Tiny for being adaptive in this performance situation.

Tiny Tim's renditions of these old songs were tributes. He had the image of being an eccentric but he was dignified as he sang most of them.

Tiny Tim Imitated 1920s Uke. Ike style of music well. However I wish I could have seen Ed's face when he watched their act off-stage can't help thinking about what was written that he looked like the night Elvis 1st appeared with him after he returned from his car accident.

Tiny Tim sang songs popular in the 1920s and early 1930s and newer songs in that style, so would be familiar and appreciated to those in their 50s or older. He had a very good sense of humor, but unfortunately should have married someone who could carry a tune.
