    What the average makeup of what the Patented Elite/RX design traps is 70% water and acids, 23% raw fuel (this dilutes the engine oil if not removed as soon as it enters) and 7% is oil saturated with abrasive particulate matter. The less effective designs mainly trap oil as being a thicker substance does not "pull through" and still be ingested, but you can also see a good amount of oil passes through to still be ingested as well.

    I have a cheap Amazon catch can on my eaton blown 4.6, over 4K it sucks oil into the intake. Would the MM or ultra can orient this? Running about 12psi boost?

      The Amazon ones really are not very good. You can can tell a lot about the catch can by the way it is designed inside. The E2-X series from Elite has a standard size and the Ultra size. If space is an issue, the standard size should fit fine.

    Cool test. It would have been interesting to total the volumes collected at each test interval and place a percentage collected with each can, in each configuration.
    It's interesting to think - was the condensation captured in the second test due just to ambient temperature, or is there something about the design of the Mighty Mouse catch can that is introducing some moisture into the PCV system? This is something that would only be easily noticed in your second configuration, where the Elite ran second, and showed the moisture present. The Mighty Mouse is unlike the Elite and is a vent pressure to atmosphere design, and may be returning some atmosphere into the PCV system as a by-product when under vacuum. Something to consider, and maybe test more in the future - maybe draw a vacuum on each can to see what occurs.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад

      Very good comment. This weekend I'm releasing another vid that will address the condensation. The test vehicle is a C7 Z06 and I bought it new, I ran about 500kms or 300miles with each can and checked under the blower lid, and then cleaned any remaining oil. There would be no condensation, as any would have burned off. As no catch can is 100% I didn't want to run to many miles or it may just look the same (maybe) so by running just a few miles we can see whats left. With the Elite what I did was just put a one way valve on the can so it would vent just like the MM if there was any pressure.

    • @OscyJack-
      @OscyJack- Год назад

      Keep in mind, when run in series, your coalescing efficiency is changed.
      I'm not sure if it's designed or not, but water vapor is a good thing generally for an intake. It helps to cool the air, as well as exhibits a bit of a steam clean on the valves.
      Would be a pretty neat truck to capture the oil but allow the moisture.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  Год назад

      @OscyJack- I think a lot of the moisture just goes through. If you figure the amount of air that actually flows through the engine the moisture created/captured by the catch can is a small amount.

    Hi Will the elite ultra prevent seal blow out on high horsepower builds

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад +2

      Yes it will, I assume you are talking about the LT4 engine. If you are doing a high horsepower build I would hook up the Elite like the MM is hooked up, but instead of using the 3rd line on the elite for the secondary vacuum I would put a high flow one way valve on the can so it will vent just like the MM does. This way the Elite will have just two hoses like the MM and the other port in the can will be used to vent like the MM. I actually do that in one of my other vids.

      @@GarageKing Oh okay and yes for 2018 ZL1 would you say the mm wild catch can be a better choice for my set up or the elite ultra

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад +1

      I’m not associated with either company so I just posted what I found and the Elite did catch more. The difference between the MM mild and Wild is where it pulls the dirty air from. The can is the same. The mild pulls from the valley plate under the blower (which does have a factory separator in it) and the wild pulls from the valvecover. I think by pulling from the valvecover you are bypassing a great factory feature. It’s not 100% because if it was you would not need a catch can, but it helps, and if you can use it, why not ? Don’t forget to get your throttle body connectors so you don’t have to cut your factory line at the throttle body.

      The Elite E2-X Ultra actually uses two separate evacuation vacuum sources so pressure should never build to begin with as suction is always pulled on the crankcase. One of the beautiful things about it being a true "crankcase evacuation" system vs a "catchcan". That prevents seal leaks and failures as well as aids in piston ring seal and stability eliminating most "ring flutter" issues FI engines have and that in itself reduces blow-by. The MM will allow pressure to build and then vent, which is undesirable. The E2-X Also comes with the billet clean side separator that addresses the fresh/clean side of the PCV system. Above 1000 hp the best system is a true vacuum pump like GZ offers. That will allow for a certain amount of vacuum to maintained at all times using an adjustable vacuum relief valve. Ideal that level is 14-15" of vacuum for max benefit and no oiling issues. Pulling full time suction aids in the oil returning to the crankcase as well with less accumulating in the upper reaches of the engine. And finally, it keeps the engine oil clean far longer as it flushes and removes most of the wear causing combustion byproducts as soon as they enter. That's why the Venturi Vacuum generating valve should always be used with the second outlet on the main separator for added suction when needed most avoiding crankcase pressure altogether.

      @@tracylewisperformance1328 Excellent and thorough answer, I think that some people are concerned with the LT4 as they have had the front crank seal pop out on a highly boosted engine. The secondary line is an awesome feature, and some people do not understand it. Thanks for the great answer

  • @clarkharvell5242

    Elite is the clear winner there, but why does the MM have a "breather" on top? Surely it is not vented to the atmosphere, that would be a large vacuum leak.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  8 месяцев назад +1

      The MM has a one way valve under the breather so it only vents when the crankcase is under pressure.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 года назад +1

      Sorry to hear that. I'm not affiliated with either company, just posting what I found. If you got a bad one it would be interesting to see the centre section how well its welded together. They are hand made so if the centre section is not welded tight it will leak (internally), and not be as efficient. Some people like the MM as it vents and only requires two lines, but with the Elite Engineering you could always add a one way valve as an outlet to the third port on the can and it would essentially function the same way. Thanks for the comment, I do appreciate it :)

    • @tracylewisperformance1328
      @tracylewisperformance1328 2 года назад +4

      The original EE can is really only proper for a mild port injection engine. The E2-X is for GDI and the Ultra for the boosted big power build.
