As a kid Laura was my favorite. As an adult Mrs. Oleson and Nellie are my favorite. Mrs. Oleson was so talented. So comical, yet believable. Nellie was too. My favorite part was when Percival was teaching Nellie how to separate the eggs and she told him he should write a book "short cuts to cooking." She just kept calling him short. Then when she realized she loved him, she squat walked to make herself shorter and he thought she was mocking his height. I was not born when Little House originally aired but I grew up watching series in reruns and own a lot of the dvds. I love all the cast. Also, I think Michael Landon was a great man and easy on the eyes as well.
The Nellie character was maliable and had a chance for redemption; which she did once she married. Nancy didn’t have a redeemable bone in her body. One of my favorite story lines was when Nellie and her husband come back and Nellie sees how rough it was to raise her by watching her mother try to deal with Nancy.
She really has got one of the sweetest pair of eyes - very very beautiful !! Melissa and Allison are best friends in reality - they really had great fun to act in little house on the prairie. I also loved Allison in the episode the return of Nellie - what a beautiful matured young lady she had been there !! Oh I still love and watch this show - I am 60 years old now and watched it first in the 1970s. Later I watched it together with my children almost every autumn - it is so cosy and comforting !! Now I started to watch it with my grandchildren .... Lots of love from Germany !! ❤🍃
Great actresses come and go, but when you but when you can make so many people dislike you at such an early age there's real talent there. Alison's a great person. I'm glad that she is helping other children. She's the most wonderful person ever for that job.
My Mom used to say that when u hate a character on tv that it is because they are a great actress or actor. Nellie was mean but she was a good mean, I loved the whole show & I am now watching the reruns that are on tv. Nice to see the shows again.
Yes! To me you could tell even in character that she was nothing like Nellie in real life but also Nellie the character wasn't truly mean, she wanted to be liked and didn't know how to make people like her. On the other hand, Nancy the character was pure mean, lol. 😅 funnily enough, the actress who played her is named Allison too! Melissa and Allison must have been the top girl names in the 60s-70s.
Nellie Olson and her crazy mother were what made the show entirely amazing!! I would watch this show with my daughter when she was very young and I'd say to her Hey, its time for" little house" and she'd say Good, I hope Nellie Olson's in this one!
It was great seeing Alison after all these years ! Her voice still sounds like Nelly at times .. She's Beautiful 💕 And great to know they all got along so well .. She played her part very well !!
My fav episode: “Here come the brides” . I love it when Nellie says to the pig farmer, “I don’t know enough to be a wife, or that I’m good enough for you.” It makes her less one dimensional. She knew she was shallow and there was a human being in there trying to get out.
Yes! I loved how Nellie had little moments when she was nice and humble. When she was with Luke, that made her nicer. I loved watching her hold hands with him, smile at him and didn't even care that he was a pig farmer 🥰

Sexual abuse is a horrible crime, but when it happens to children, it becomes a different monster, and especially when its your own brother. Brothers are suppose to protect sisters.
She's fantastic! The fact that she read for both Laura and Mary and was passed is enough to discourage anyone. But to be called back and read for "Nellie" and to be hired on the spot is difficult for any child actor. She knew that she would be disliked around the world. It was a tough hire. But she did it. To her credit, she handled it well, became a world famous villain and still talks about it fondly. She used all of her experiences to help others in need. The woman behind "Nellie Olson" is actually a very nice helpful person.
I still love Little House to this day!! Even though Nellie was horrid, Alison did such an amazing job acting her character!! Can you imagine Little House WITHOUT Nellie Olsen???!!!
I am going to get her book. I just love her. Little house on the prarie..no topping that show. So wonderful. I think we all wanted to live in that town.
@@deletedleaf2688 that comes from the books. Since kids grow so quickly, girls had "grow stripes" which was just extra fabric folded at the bottom of dresses.
