She was the most fun to listen to at the 50 year reunion. I tried to go every time she spoke. Also got to take a picture with her. She is just down-to-earth, sweet, funny hilarious and her acting was just wonderful. She brought so much joy to my life when I was 7 years old and. Here we are fifty years later and to still brings the same joy
🙂 I haven't completed reading her book, but I love how entertaining she is. Wonderful book, but I just felt bad what she went through with her brother.
My mum was born in 1935 and lived on a farm through the depression. There were eight of them in an old grain shed with a lean-to built onto the side to accommodate this never ending string of babies that came along. Mum and her sisters were re-located to some beds in an old machinery shed. I always say that she grew up on the little house on the prairie LOL.
The Actor who played Nellie’s husband died of AIDS in the 1980’s. In a time of fear and distrust, Allison was his biggest advocate and friend. Fearless. As a gay man who lived through that awful nightmare she will always hold a very special place in my heart. A true lady.❤️🙏🏿
I also had a Nellie who changed. She did this all by her self at 12, with a big Mea Culpa and the whole class as a witness. Before that I thought she was evil, but she turned out to be a nice girl. It made me think about _my_ part of being bullied, and my prejudices. That girl taught me a lot.
I just have to say this when people went to the 50th. And Paid to have autographs with all the stars. I will just tell you that she only charged $10 in autograph. Compared to some people who charged seventy an Autograph... And I'm not putting down. I promise the people who charged 70. But I think it speaks volumes about her. Realizing that not everybody can afford $70. So she made it affordable for everyone which speaks a lot about her and I thought that was absolutely wonderful. It pulled it my heart strings
Nellie was that character we all loved to hate, which means she did a fabulous job as an actor. I loved the comeuppances she got throughout the show and equally loved that she eventually grew up and became a better person. It was a great and satisfying end to her character arc. Alison seems like a really interesting and funny person. I'd love to spend a day with her over a bottle of wine and listen to the stories.
She’s very engaging. The “Back to School” episode is a turning point, because at that point both Nellie and Harriet made the transition from sinister to full-on comic relief. And the two actors were certainly up to the task. Nellie eating a snack while ordering Laura to beg her for forgiveness is hysterical. Because she’s so self assured and is reveling in her villainy.
Didn't watch when I was young, but absolutely fell in love with the show a few years ago. Nellie and Mrs Olsen MADE the show..... it's hilarious whenever their evil plans backfire.
Alison is so different from Nellie, and she really gets the common, plain, and poor people that live all around our world!! Alison has such a loving heart, and I appreciate her humility, and sweet spirit!! Thanks
You can "hear" her in the writing. The style is Allison. FYI, These days I prefer Nellie over Mary Ingalls. In real life, Melissa Anderson was more of a Nellie. Allison theorized that it had to do with Melissa Anderson having a STAGE MOTHER.
I met Alison Arngrim at a book signing back in 2010. She was funny and so sincere. I spoke French with her as she travelled through on her Confessions of a Prairie Bitch tour.
I’m watching it for the I don’t even know how many time. It’s on prime and I’m obsessed and I’m loving every minute of it. My Husband and I watched it on TV several years ago and we’re like oh I remember this when I remember that one I don’t remember this when I don’t remember that one. It’s such a brilliant show. I think every family should watch it with their children.
Met Alison several times over the years, at autograph shows & other events. She's anything but "Nellie." Absolutely always so kind & so nice to everyone!
Yes, I noticed that look when she married. Her interview was the best I've seen of her. Totally agree on why Little House is doing so well 50 years later. ❤😊
I would have loved to have been there. I remember her brother was on a show called The Land of the Giants...I loved that show and was so excited to find out the boy from it is her brother ...his name is Stefan Arngrim....I had such a crush on him.....I love Nellie. She was so mean, especially to Laura and Mary...But Alison is wonderful and so friendly....or so anyone who has met her has said....I noticed the look you gave Percival in the wagon and I thought it was hysterical...Just wonderful.
The show has been appealing for so long for the same reason the LIW books themselves have been so popular over the decades. While fictionalized to a degree, they were based on many of the real events and people in Wilder's life. She was a real person who grew up as a child of pioneers.
I love Nellie Oleson now as an adult but I was terrified of her as a child because I had a whole group of Nellies in my school. In 2020, they all came back and apologized for treating me so badly. Of course, I didn't push any of them down a hill in a wheelchair, maybe that would have worked 😂.
This show is awesome! Stands the test of time. I love this show it's so real and a great watch on my days off to just relax. You can laugh you can cry. I can also be assured that this show is something I can watch with my niece and know that it will ALWAYS be safe to watch with children unlike MOST of today's shows.
Love love love this, thank you! BTW, an anagram of Arngrim is "Grim RNA." I think you were born to play a meanie. Somebody had to do it, and you were excellent! When they make new seasons of this series, please get on board and play some member of the Oleson family. You know that's what the world needs, right?
I never watched little house when it was a new show. I got into it years later when they started putting it on TV As. Reruns. And I had to ask myself. Why didn't I watch this before.
Nellie you ROCK!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ That being said I couldn’t stand you as a kid🤣🤣🤣As an adult now I knew that was your part to play though and you did it PERFECT!!!
My absolute favourite show! Loving these interviews! Funny thing my neighbour lent me the whole series and I have been watching it and I am 60 years old! Never grows old for me and I remember each episode lol 😆
Yup we're poor, so poor in fact that when it rains outside, the house inside rains too and that's no joke! It's a lousy situation but we make it work somehow and that's Why we watch Little House On The Prairie...It gives us Hope...Hope that one day we too will be out of this bad situation. It's all we do have. My mom use to say that God will provide for us with a better way of life, but until then, we'll continue to watch the show and stay hopeful :)
This woman acted the hell out of the role of Nellie, and yes, it was hate but a 'love to hate' sensation she engendered. And of course her 'mother' engendered the same feeling. But I'd compare Nellie to JR Ewing. You absolutely loved the portrayal of spoiled meanness. Yet, both Nellie and her mother always had levelling out scenes to bring back their humanity, to hint at hearts under the pompous personas. And yeah, over the years with RUclips, I got to see Alison in interviews and indeed Katherine McGregor, and it was great to see such acclaimed firebrands be such funny, warm, approachable people in 'real-life'. It kinda sealed the deal. Two wonderful actresses.
Besides Willie & Laura other siblings were the actors who played Andrew Garvey & Albert Ingalls. Not to mention so many twins, like the twins, who played Carrie & Grace.💁🏻♀️
Given their character’s history and that blonde wig Alison has, I would LOVE to see Alison Arngrim and Melissa Gilbert do a remake of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?😃 Whether it’s Broadway, a TV movie or a theatrical release, they would be PERFECT for it. AND Alison would now be pushing Melissa in a wheelchair.😂
I loved Nellie, especially when she received her comeuppance in each episode. I hated Nancy, the Nellie-come-lately, though I thought the actress played the part well.
We didn't hate you we accepted you were our better and of course you can act out all you want(we knew it was make believe and you were at the mercy of adult writers, what do they know what goes on ina childs heart). We did enjoy seeing her in mud scenes, loved more watching her find her real self and love❤
She has a fun personality. She also did stand up.
I was only 3 when the show started. I compare myself in age to the actresses who played Carrie.
Allison is my favorite. Out of all of the characters, her interviews are the best!
💯
I remember my family laughing at your expression in the 70's. You were an amazing little actress. We loved Nelly. BTW you are still adorable.
What a brilliant actor!
For only being a child, it’s extraordinary
Allison is very entertaining! She's also a good writer. Her book is a captivating read.
🙂 I haven't completed reading her book, but I love how entertaining she is. Wonderful book, but I just felt bad what she went through with her brother.
I have the audible version and to hear her read it is awesome!
I just e-checked it out from the library. Had trouble getting it onto "Kindle" because, to paraphrase Nancy, "Amazon hates me."
I am 50yrs old and i am still watching Little House on the Prairie reruns every day. ❤❤
My mom had a similar time
Your right , we all have those type of characters in our life . I’m 66 still love the show
MY FAVORITE TV CHARACTER OF ALL TIME!!! Thank you, Allison- you are simply delightful!!
Allison, It is no wonder 50 years later we love you and LHOTP.
OMG Mrs. Olsen was the original Karen! I love how she said she was the first person to ask to see the manager.
Too funny
Alison is so much fun to listen to. She’s always entertaining

That's awesome ❤
YOU! Made that character real you’re an amazing actress !!!
She did! She was so good at her character!
So great! Nellie was the best. I could watch these videos all day. Please keep them coming!
That show wouldn't have been nearly as popular without Alison as Nellie!
Nellie was mean and spoiled. I feel like Nancy was just plain evil and, had she been an actual person, would have stayed that way.
Alison, you were wonderful! A great foil against the others! Your acting was wonderful!
I loved and noticed when Nellie threw the bouquet at Laura, giving her permission to wed Almanzo
What a great sense of humor she has!
I still watch Little House till this day, it's such a wholesome show and I grew up watching this show. ☺
I don't usually like autobiographies, but Confessions of A Prairie B**** is wonderful. Thank you, Ms Arngrim.
Thanks
Allison I just ordered your book I cannot wait to read it
You can "hear" her in the writing. The style is Allison.
FYI, These days I prefer Nellie over Mary Ingalls. In real life, Melissa Anderson was more of a Nellie. Allison theorized that it had to do with Melissa Anderson having a STAGE MOTHER.
People watch it because it was a well written show that gave people memories of a time where people really were honest and cared about others.
That's true. I am from Indonesia and my childhood waited every Sunday to watch this film. 😊
My sister and I loved Nellie and thought she was so funny.
I met Alison Arngrim at a book signing back in 2010. She was funny and so sincere. I spoke French with her as she travelled through on her Confessions of a Prairie Bitch tour.
She is just a delight. I love that annoying little Nellie is portrayed by this amazing lady. Thanks so much for sharing all these interviews with us!
Wow, she’s a hoot!
Amazing actress should have won an Emmy award 😊
I love the episode "Here comes the Brides", they finally did something different and positive with Nellie.
It's so nice hear your story. I so glad that the cast were all friends.
I watch it every day on Prime! It’s my favorite show. ❤
Alison is incredibly smart and engaging. Was so great to see this.
Met Alison several times over the years, at autograph shows & other events. She's anything but "Nellie." Absolutely always so kind & so nice to everyone!
"Little House on the Prairie," came on at five pm every week on the eadt coast in the 80' s. I NEVER missed an episode.
You were awesome at being awful! Thanks for the wonderful memories of watching this with my mom and sisters.
Love her. thanks Alison.
I love her energy. 😊
Oh, I noticed that look she gave Percival when it aired. It was hilarious!
It’s endearing and very relatable.
Yes, I noticed that look when she married. Her interview was the best I've seen of her. Totally agree on why Little House is doing so well 50 years later. ❤😊
Mrs. Oleson was the original Karen.
What about Cruella Deville?
Cora Beth Godsey on The Waltons gave her a run for her money.
😅
I must disagree. Mrs. Oleson never asked to see the manager. Mrs. Oleson WAS the manager (or at least she thought she was).
😂🤣
Allison is my favorite actress of little house .....for sure
I would have loved to have been there. I remember her brother was on a show called The Land of the Giants...I loved that show and was so excited to find out the boy from it is her brother ...his name is Stefan Arngrim....I had such a crush on him.....I love Nellie. She was so mean, especially to Laura and Mary...But Alison is wonderful and so friendly....or so anyone who has met her has said....I noticed the look you gave Percival in the wagon and I thought it was hysterical...Just wonderful.
Don't be so excited. He molested Alison for years, as she wrote in her autobiography. 😞
The show has been appealing for so long for the same reason the LIW books themselves have been so popular over the decades. While fictionalized to a degree, they were based on many of the real events and people in Wilder's life. She was a real person who grew up as a child of pioneers.
She's really cool. I want a Golden Girls type show with Alison and the 2 Melisas. They have so much energy it's lovely.
Allison is just a awesome actress where she can become Nellie
To this day I think I think your the greatest actor of the 80’s
I love Nellie Oleson now as an adult but I was terrified of her as a child because I had a whole group of Nellies in my school. In 2020, they all came back and apologized for treating me so badly. Of course, I didn't push any of them down a hill in a wheelchair, maybe that would have worked 😂.
Alison, I always watched the intro. credits to see if you were in the episode because you were my favorite ❤️😂🎉
This show is awesome! Stands the test of time. I love this show it's so real and a great watch on my days off to just relax. You can laugh you can cry. I can also be assured that this show is something I can watch with my niece and know that it will ALWAYS be safe to watch with children unlike MOST of today's shows.

You were a delight Thanks 😊
I watched the whole series during the dark days of covid in a month or two .
Alison a lovely lady speaks so fondly of LHOP she was brilliant as Nellie👏😁🇨🇦
such a great interview
Bucket list meeting…. Prayers for me!!
I adore them all!! Now.....DECADES AND DECADES later, I'm STILL enamored with this show and all its people!
I never watched little house when it was a new show. I got into it years later when they started putting it on TV As.
Reruns. And I had to ask myself. Why didn't I watch this before.
I grew up with it. Monday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC.
I loved Nelly! She was so funny.
Yes Absolutely Awesome
I better watch my Little House DVD's again and pay attention to that look in that episode.
Nellie you ROCK!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ That being said I couldn’t stand you as a kid🤣🤣🤣As an adult now I knew that was your part to play though and you did it PERFECT!!!
She was so good .
She's awesome! Just finished her memoir--she didn't have a "nice" childhood, and she said she thought doing LHOTP was very therapeutic.
It’s not crazy!! it’s awesome - just rediscovered Little House !! Loving it
Your acting was really great in that show.
I’m sorry about all the negative pushback you got for the character you played.
My absolute favourite show! Loving these interviews! Funny thing my neighbour lent me the whole series and I have been watching it and I am 60 years old! Never grows old for me and I remember each episode lol 😆
Glad you enjoy it!
Nellie (the antagonist) taught us who not to be! and cheering for Laura all the more! ❤
Yup we're poor, so poor in fact that when it rains outside, the house inside rains too and that's no joke! It's a lousy situation but we make it work somehow and that's Why we watch Little House On The Prairie...It gives us Hope...Hope that one day we too will be out of this bad situation. My mom use to say that God will provide for us with a better way of life, but until then, we'll continue to watch the show and stay hopeful :)
So fun to watch and listen to her stories!
I didn't like it when they wrote Nellie off and brought Nancy in but the Olesons were a big heart of the show. Without them it would have been boring.
Very nice video and show
I love pickles and ice cream too, and sour kraut and ice cream too.
*sauerkraut

Nellie had a nice redeem arc.
Allison is a delight.
Alison is as much of a joy of a person in real life as Nellie was evil on the show.
I love her personality (Alison's, not Nellie's lol). She seems like such a fun person and wow she has an amazing memory.
It's obvious she can't top her childhood. Very few can compare to her.
Love the cinnamon chicken one too . My cinnamon chicken is good, ty for the idea.
What got me my whole child hood I never knew wholly was Laura's real brother.i was born 71 didnt know this till recently
Besides Willie & Laura other siblings were the actors who played Andrew Garvey & Albert Ingalls. Not to mention so many twins, like the twins, who played Carrie & Grace.💁🏻♀️
Both Melissa and Jon were adopted as were Patrick and Matthew. Great upbringings
Given their character’s history and that blonde wig Alison has, I would LOVE to see Alison Arngrim and Melissa Gilbert do a remake of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?😃
Whether it’s Broadway, a TV movie or a theatrical release, they would be PERFECT for it. AND Alison would now be pushing Melissa in a wheelchair.😂
I love her. She is so presentable and nice. I am watching it now.
Luv this this little house on the prairie luv u
I feel like the word "Hoot" was invented JUST for Alison. 😂😂😂 What a storyteller. She is so hilarious and delightful.
3:42 maybe Laura was riding Secretariat 😊
Nellie was the awsome 😍
Nellie is awesome
Nellie and Percival were the best couple. Especially when Nellie was pregnant 😂
Wow I never thought that everyone had a Nellie Olsen . Just now realize who mine was.
I loved Nellie, especially when she received her comeuppance in each episode. I hated Nancy, the Nellie-come-lately, though I thought the actress played the part well.
Love her.
We didn't hate you we accepted you were our better and of course you can act out all you want(we knew it was make believe and you were at the mercy of adult writers, what do they know what goes on ina childs heart). We did enjoy seeing her in mud scenes, loved more watching her find her real self and love❤
Nellie gets more beautiful with age. She looks so good in that short cut. Love her voice.....!
I loved to hate Nellie most of the time. Such a bully but a fun bully! I'm 67 and I still watch reruns.
Cruella Deville training in the Prairie?
