as someone who's colorblind, this video means so much to me, it's so very dear to me, it's the main reason i started painting like i've always wanted to
You know, i genuinely teared up when he said it was a for a colourblind person. I'm also colourblind, not completely, I'm red green colourblind, but this still made me feel included and happy
Question from a non-colorblind person here. So, when you say you're red-green colorblind, does it actually look like gray, as if you just can't perceive it or does it blend into a different color for you? I've never met a colorblind person before, so I don't know what it's like.
@@RainbowVibes1708 it means my eyes have trouble seeing red and green especially when mixed with other colours. To give an example oftentimes the colour purple may appear blue to me as my eyes have trouble seeing the red in the colour. Same goes for pink, sometimes pink looks grey to me. Brown is a very confusing colour for me as it contains both red and green. I'm often not sure whether it's brown or just a dark green. I can see red and green on their own but once they're mixed into a colour, it takes a lot of green or red in order for me to be able to see it. Hope this makes sense
I too am red-green color blind. Despite my handicap I, love visual arts and I even love looking at impressionist painting that, I suppose, are based on color. The thing is that I see the paintings with the same eyes with which I see the world. So even though people with full color vision would probably be shocked at the reduced/shifted colors in the painting if they could see them with me eyes, I see them as perfectly natural, harmonious and capturing very well the visual impression of the painted scenery.
+Bob Ross Uploading these videos, in honor of a man that inspired others, is amazing. Saying, "I love you too", as if you're pretending to be a dead man, is incredibly disrespectful.
The thing that is so trippy about Bob Ross is when adds something to the painting it always looks like a mistake or oversimplified. Then he adds a few simple details or adds another "mistake" beside it and suddenly what looked a child slapping paint on a canvas haphazardly, suddenly looks very good. And then he repeats the process until he has a finished painting,
What's so cool about painting specifically is that because you have to work from back to front, like he said, it all looks wrong until it's finished, and then suddenly it's amazing. I kept looking at the empty space below the mountains early on, and I was thinking "He could stop here and it would be beautiful, but then there's that space. what is he going to to here? If he adds more, it could ruin it." Even when he did the water, I thought the same. Then he kept adding and adding and it was always exactly what the painting needed.
I was going to make a joke out of the name of the painting, then I heard Bob saying this was meant for color blind people so they can paint too and I cannot feel more respect for the work of this man. I don’t believe in god, but I’m truly sure he was an angel.

Every time I see this man, I try to reconcile what we all know about him with the fact that he was a military instructor. Most of us are people of depth, but this guy blows my mind.
Bob Ross never received any money for his show, The Joy of Painting. His company, Bob Ross Inc., sold art supplies, how-to videos, and he gave art lessons. Out of the 403 episodes of “The Joy of Painting” with Bob Ross, 91% of them contain at least one happy tree and 2% of them contain bridges. He was a Master Sergent in the US Airforce. He was required to be "mean and tough," to be "the guy who scream at you for being late to work." After 20 years he left the military and decided "he would never scream again." 3 years later he started "The Joy of Painting" He helped raise newborn squirrels and brought them on set. One of them "probably has epilepsy".Bob Ross once did an entire episode of The Joy of Painting with a pair of baby flying squirrels in his front shirt pocket. Painted over 30,000 paintings from the age of 18 to his death at age 52. The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross was on TV for 31 seasons. He eventually was diagnosed with lymphoma in the early 90's and forced into retirement. He died at 52. There is a canceled Bob Ross Wii Game.
"Mountains really used to give me a fit when I was a traditional painter. Oh, I'd spend weeks sometimes working with a little brush trying to make all these things happen." Now I just crap out awesome ones in a couple seconds.

You did it, Bob! You did it! History has just been made, I think! Bob Ross has just painted a painting that will work whether it's on color television or not! I repeat, you did it, Bob! You did it!
i'd like to see the colorblind person take that paint pallet and use what he sees as bright and dark colors. he'd paint something like this but we see a wide range of colors used. that'd be neat and worth some money
+Jesse Janitscheck I did this when I was 6 or 7. Teacher wondered why I made the dudes I drew have green skin but just assumed I drew aliens or something. Not that I held the crayon next to my skin and it was the closest one that matched in my eyes.
+Jesse Janitscheck i know a dude who does photography and drawings and is colourblind. sadly he's just really bad at art, and don't get me started when he's trying to change colours using photoshop...
You know... now that I think about it, the idea is a little offensive. Like, "Hey let's let gimpy joe draw with his club foot and see what crazy pictures he makes!" Lacking the full spectrum of color-vision that everyone else has is far from "neat" but if you wanna pay me for my green spacemen my paypal is salazam@hotmail.com
you dont have to paint. bob ross, to me, is less about getting people to just paint and more about encouraging everyone to be creative. maybe you like to make music, write poems, photography, theres a ton of stuff
I went ahead and bought supplies to give it a try once - out of sheer respect for the man. I ended up making six or seven paintings in the span of four years or so. His techniques definitely work, but his feeling for composition and his huge experience are deceiving. I ended up spending about 4 hours to create something that always looked way less good. So there's no shame in not being bothered. It's definitely a lot more effort than it seems! (Although if you keep Bob's voice in your head, it's very relaxing too.)
I've been on yt since 2008, but today, on this video, this was the first time that I cried tears of happiness. To think that Bob just made this video to inspire all of the colorblind people of this world... He truly was a pure soul in this world.
The most relaxing TV show of all time. You can have the shittiest, most downtrodden day and come home and watch Bob Ross and suddenly it's all better. The Joy of Painting makes me feel so relaxed I get tingly and almost in a trance state. The sound of that spatula scraping the canvas is like scratching an itch. t's like that feeling in you get when someone kind and peaceful shows you how to do something and they're close to you. True charisma. RIP Bob Ross.

Try and make sure your lines are level so it doesn't look like your waters running off the canvas or you'll have to put a bucket on one end to catch it :)
Same, I just picture God saying unto their disciples and acolytes... 'Ok, now let's mix some Titanium white, Indian Yellow and Permanent Red, and we're just going to add a sun up here... and that'll be our little secret. Now, if we're going to part the red sea, Basically just run your water across, get some nice straight lines, and now we're going to put some happy little evergreen trees in between it with the point of our almighty knife.'

And just like that, depression gone.
True.

He was required to be "mean and tough," to be "the guy who scream at you for being late to work." After 20 years he left the military and decided "he would never scream again." 3 years later he started "The Joy of Painting"
He helped raise newborn squirrels and brought them on set.
There is a canceled Bob Ross Wii Game.
godzeno I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that anyone asked you to copy paste a generic Bob Ross comment from another video...
David hes spreading some positive facts about Bob, and you have to be like that? Bet you feel so much better than everyone else huh?
i learned things here i didnt know
David why would you even reply to a comment thats 3 years old?
@@BradShaw1690 why not? A BLAST FROM THE PAST....make ya cry a little....
"Mountains really used to give me a fit when I was a traditional painter. Oh, I'd spend weeks sometimes working with a little brush trying to make all these things happen."
Now I just crap out awesome ones in a couple seconds.
*sniffles* this man was so considerate, I love listening to him before I go to bed. He is so relaxing. Plus he calls bush leaves 'rascals' and hopes every body has a super day. He is what the human race should aspire to be more like.
25:22 We’re gonna sign it with red, we’re gonna cheat! This just makes me happy!
That sly smile makes me laugh a little

A Bob Ross take on tread lightly and carry a big stick!
Michael Meyers
he makes me so happy and feel calm and makes me feel like I'm not worthless
You're not worthless, hope everything's alright.

friendly reminder that you’re good enough 💕

You're an amazing person
"we're not trying to draw with the knife. we touch the canvas, the canvas takes what it wants, gives you back what's left." 15:00 #lifelemons
I've never seen a Bob Ross video until now, and now I realize what I was missing all my life.
It was very kind of him to do this episode especially for the color blind person. How thoughtful! 😊
This one launched my carreer!
At some parts I was thinking "what are you doing what are you going to do with that?" then he just did his rossy magic and made it amazing.
+Sir_Mercury "rossy magic"
you deserve a cup of tea sir
You did it, Bob! You did it! History has just been made, I think! Bob Ross has just painted a painting that will work whether it's on color television or not! I repeat, you did it, Bob! You did it!
Keith Evers We knew he could!
My favorite quote.. "Let all of those little things happen." Love you Bob Ross.
The premise behind this episode is very heartwarming. I wish Bob Ross was still alive 😢
Bob Ross was legit pure human being, he was this chill in his everyday life. RIP Bob.
These days the only pure humans I see are ones who don’t have much other than family
i'd like to see the colorblind person take that paint pallet and use what he sees as bright and dark colors. he'd paint something like this but we see a wide range of colors used. that'd be neat and worth some money
Jesse Janitscheck this is such an awesome idea!
+Jesse Janitscheck that would be amazing.
You know... now that I think about it, the idea is a little offensive. Like, "Hey let's let gimpy joe draw with his club foot and see what crazy pictures he makes!" Lacking the full spectrum of color-vision that everyone else has is far from "neat" but if you wanna pay me for my green spacemen my paypal is salazam@hotmail.com
I ... I just ... feel happy. This man was a gift from God.
The only downside of watching these videos is that I feel bad about not bothering to try it!
you dont have to paint. bob ross, to me, is less about getting people to just paint and more about encouraging everyone to be creative. maybe you like to make music, write poems, photography, theres a ton of stuff
This is one of the most beautiful Bob Ross episodes. Doing a painting for the colorblind man just shows what a great teacher Bob was.
Bob Ross was a wonderful human being.
Michael Mee Agreed, he was a great man. A gifted artist. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more!

5:12 the exact moment shit gets real
Berleh I wish every Bob Ross video had a time stamp like this so I can prepare to question my entire existence. Thank you sir.
That sound.
That hands.
That art.
That heart.
Why god?!why he's dead?!
Oh! «No place for angels on earth»
Don't we will give you anyone god
Bc he has a cancer God can't revive him bc he's dead❤️
It was the devils work not gods
Bob was just too pure for this world rest in peace ❤❤❤❤
"Mountains are so simple, they're hard." That's true of quite a few things. The easiest thing can be super hard if you don't do it right.
"We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents." ---- Bob Ross.
"there's no big secret, all you need is a dream in your heart"
I'm crying
These videos have been keeping my hope in humanity for all my life at this point.
Come for the wholesome Bob Ross painting, stay for the loving community that all appreciate one silly little artist for the sheer heart he showed to all.
"Mountains are so simple they're hard." Very true. 7:03

In his world everything is happy, trees mountains, heck even the reflections...
You know this shit is gonna get real when Bob busts out that Titanium White.
Busts out titanium white you say? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Michael Western hehehe
Who is watching this in 2023 , greatest showman to teach so many people, he was the social media guy back then when there wasn't any YT and TikTok and X and FB ,IG etc,
Me: what kinda black fricken magic is this?
Bob: grey magic honey
I almost cried watching this.
Seymour Holz I almost did at "...so he stands out as an individual." HOW DO YOU MAKE ME FEEL SYMPATHY FOR A MOUNTAIN, BOB ROSS?
Try and make sure your lines are level so it doesn't look like your waters running off the canvas or you'll have to put a bucket on one end to catch it :)

Same, I just picture God saying unto their disciples and acolytes...
'Ok, now let's mix some Titanium white, Indian Yellow and Permanent Red, and we're just going to add a sun up here... and that'll be our little secret. Now, if we're going to part the red sea, Basically just run your water across, get some nice straight lines, and now we're going to put some happy little evergreen trees in between it with the point of our almighty knife.'
+Bob Ross holy crap he replied to a comment!
Bob Ross : paint gray for color blind
*Because that what hero do*
This is one of my favorite episodes. How amazing was Bob that he’d do this to show a color blind man (or any other viewer who was color blind) how to paint? And it really looks beautiful!

Dang it!!!! I kept saying that the entire time... Why can't I be as humble as this nigga? He is incredibly respectful towards life, and has a kind soul....
Bob Ross is a genius and his voice is so calming. And as I'm watching I am seeing the colors in the painting that's not actually there
We never deserves bob Ross, he was literally the nicest person to ever exist
"All you need is a dream in your heart" what a legend

Absolutely! Glad to see he finally got a RUclips channel btw.
I love the sound the brush makes on the canvas

the captions call it screeching! which is hilarious!
I love how free-spirited bob is with his art, he just looks for a second and goes “now let’s build a house” out of nowhere, absolutely wonderful, and of course it never fails to amaze with style and grace
“I probably just bought a studio.” I love how he gets those one liners in there 🤣
