    Flawless technique, and above all great musicality. What a time it was!

    This is one of my favorite recordings ever among all these exquisite pianists! There is such depth and power combined with a tenderness to Sofronitsky's wonderful and amazing performance of the Schumann "Symphonic Etudes" Op. 13. This is a heavenly experience, to listen to Sofronitsky and all the imaginative and beautiful playing he shares with us, his listeners. His technique is beyond belief, and his musical expression divine.

    Now I know where Gilels got his inspiration, however both him and Richter aren't a match for Sofronitsky's deep architectural passion on this piece. The clarity of each note and chord are pressed with confidence and uncanny precision, demonstrating an ease of playing and the famous (and rare) golden touch that would be inherited by Gilels. Superb. Upon hearing of Sofronitsky's death, Gilels lamented saying that the greatest pianist in the World had died. Indeed, Sofronitsky received a great gift from God, incomparable.

      Le interpretazioni di Sofronitsky sono eccelse , inarrivabili ...trovi una tecnica superba , una intelligenza interpretativa che stordisce perché ti apre al significato profondo dell’opera musicale che altri non colgono...immenso Sofronitsky..

    THIS is emotion transcribed as music, as opposed to the bombast passed off by most modern pianists. Finesse, not just technique.

    We are so lucky to have recordings of Sofr playing live .artists often do things they would not do personal ideas they wouldn't do for a document left for posterity . The Russians had such great respect so much was filmed and recorded !Radu Lupu is otherworldly and insuperably imaginative in this music .

    Chivalric Schumann in steely (Stalinist!) but not inappropriate sound. Paderewski thought his own Schumann was an antidote to Clara’s overly sane playing and like Sofronitsky quite masculine. Of course the great Maria Grinberg had these virtues too, in spades, and you might want to find her Symphonic Etudes on RUclips. Thanks for sharing.

      @Manu Petaia and it is disgusting to me that some of commenting guys who never learned a thing about the piano players history, never heard of even one legendary name, boldly declare who is a genius and who is not (and even when they do not even differ music from genitals, as in the case of Yuja)

    • @vaxx2007
      @vaxx2007 4 года назад +1

      @Manu Petaiabut the interpretation may be magnificent. you still hear the music, but it gets colors through musician's vision. even sometimes a white music becomes black. the point that now there are no such visioners, piano performance has become a sport, or business.

    • @pacifist1360
      @pacifist1360 2 года назад +1

      @@MrInterestingthings Morton Estrin was a world renowned concert pianist and teacher who resided on Long Island and taught piano privately and also at Hofstra University until his last days of his life. His students in his private studio numbered in thousands, including the most famous pianists - Jeffrey Biegel, Lawrence Schubert, Billy Joel and Deborah Gibson. He recorded all of the Op.8 Scriabin Etudes, Rachmaninoff Preludes Op. 32 and Schumann Symphonic Etudes. He performed with all of the major orchestras and toured around the world, but focused more on his teaching. He taught piano at Hofstra and privately since 1960. He was a magnificent pianist on a similar caliber to Richter, Neuhaus and Sofronitsky. His focus was on the Russian principles of piano playing, which he ingrained from his own teacher Vera Maurina Press, who he studied with for over 8 years. She was a pupil of Emil von Sauer and Ferruccio Busoni. He also studied with Rosina Lhevinne at the Juilliard School. I will never forgive myself for not taking lessons with this great man.

    The best interpretation is, in my opinion, by Alfred Cortot! It touches the essence of music, it acquires an extra dimension, respectively the music becomes transcendental! Sofronitsky's interpretation is exceptional, obviously above Richter's!

    Ombré par l'obscurité, je ne peux plus agiter les branches.
    Avec une seule âme prête, et avec le bruit des pas réduit au silence, je m'approche de ta fenêtre.
    Sur la route sombre créée par les yeux doux du bétail, les gens nerveux quittant juste les branches
    Les feuilles cherchent un entrefer.
    solitaire. tu,
    Quand ma faible toux traverse le sommeil de ton fragment, allume la petite lampe sur le rebord de la fenêtre.
    La distance de mon désir est trop loin, et le silence m'entraîne toujours çà et là.
    Il faut ouvrir la fenêtre très tard.
    La lumière est trop faible pour saisir le champ, et j'ai toujours voulu entrer dans tes soupirs pendant que tu secoues la tête.
    Hélas, vous éteindrez bientôt le feu d'une feuille avec votre souffle.
    Je casse les plus petites branches sans un bruit.
    Caché derrière cette branche d'arbre, je regarde tranquillement la région reculée de la vie où je ne peux pas aller.
    Mon cher, cet abat-jour ardu
    Un temps de crépuscule pour tout essuyer,
    Jusqu'à ce que quelques mouvements cessent dans l'obscurité qui s'estompe et que le vent las termine un bref repos.
    ,
