My first Templar turns into a complete 1 man army. He have "Genius" Combat Intelligent, Reaper, Bladestorm, Shadowstep. He can generate 3 focus in a single turn. One mission I put him the open while doing a rend. He parry a stun lancer and killed it, Deflect Andromedon shot, and killed 1 mech and 1 advent soldier with Reflect. All of this happen in a single turn.
with luck on the skill tree , you can turn a templar into a killing machine. My one had Reaper , Bladestorm and Fortress. So neither status ambient effects or the explosions triggered by kill a Gatekeepers , Sectopods or Purified couldn't stop him either. Even with just bladestorm he becomes a killing machine on Lost related missions where he manage to kill an entire pods of spawned lost as soon their appear and/or sourrounds him. BTW ... the name of my Templar? Zeratul ♥
Farhan Ihram That's the same Templar build I got on my first one. Her back must have hurt from carrying my entire commander run of WOTC. You can get a pistol build to occur. Lightning hands and quickdraw. Get the plasma mag pistol and that guy can decimate a pod if placed correctly.
I highly recommend throwing Dodge and Mobility PCS on them and sending them on covert ops that increase these. They'll traverse practically half the map (more if you buddy them for extra actions) and almost never get hit. Mines only been wounded once and it was just a minor wound
Also note that you can upgrade Templars to start with a free focus point. This is really important since it lets them snowball focus much easier (something like 6-7 damage instead of 4-5)
I just find this video worthy to learn, because most of the uploaders do not have the ability to use templar. Templar is not an inferior class of ranger which mostly seen in other videos. Salute to you!
Shit, never been this early... Love the videos man. Great quality on visuals, audio and gameplay. Much respect to you my friend. You'll reach big numbers one day if you keep this up.
Here is a tip that was not mentioned: Parry can be stacked. Rend then parry the first target, get team work for bondmate to rend again then parry (up 2 more time) if you have a skirmisher in the group, they can Commanding Presence to give Templar one more rend-parry. The UI doesn't show any indicators, but you can have multiple charges of parry in a single turn.
i'll admit, my favorite classes are the Reapers and the Templar. I mean they are like the Psi soldiers, but BETTER! I love how they specialize in close range combat and use energy swords as they're weapon of choice made out of their power!
Thanks m8. I didn't use them much in my current WOTC campaign but after making this video, I regret not starting at the Templar HQ. They're so damn powerful!!!
I like to use the skirmisher to pull the last enemy over and then use the templar so I don't alert the next pod. I'm going to try and bond them as well. They synergise really well IMO.
Gish type characters (psi or magic + stab) are pretty much my favorite character class (even more so if they are teleporting gish). I'm still on my first play through of WotC, so only acquired Templars somewhat recently. It's an amazing class though - with a bucket load of versatility. +dodge PCS is a big help, and bring a mindshield as psionic effects can cause templars to lose focus.
My Templar one-shotted the Warlock because he was weak to melee attacks and Templars. My Templar also had Reaper activated, Arc Wave, and a large group of Lost to help generate Focus. The Warlock was the weakest of the 3 Chosen in that game. Now I feel like getting a mod that buffs the Chosen. However right now it is too late for the Warlock since I stormed his fortress. After I killed his respawn thing, he spawned next to my Templar who had max focus and blademaster. Got a crit on him and he died. Gave me the achievement for murdering him right as he spawned.
Ever tried the rather risky but super fun tactic of locating a group of targets, have your templar run up in the middle of that group to slash a target and watch how your unit kills or damages everything in that pod as they scatter ? The tactic kinda requires the Bladestorm unlocked but man when you do its so satisfying seeing your Psionic madman just chop everything to pieces in a single move.
One limitation the Templar has is squad sight, so make sure your other team mates can at least spot the enemy so the Templar can go in and murder the hell out of the xenos filth.
So true. Gona make sure I have plenty of Battle Scanners and Scanning Protocol when I start using Templar in my campaign. I'm a bit sad that I haven't used them much.
idk they've always felt like a less dependable and diverse ranger especially now that we can pump rangers full of extra skills to make them the most op thing in the game
*sigh* i have to get the DLCS now at least i got the game free from PS plus, this isn't fair its my favorite class in the game psionic combined with a badass melee class aspect.
okay, wait. how do you only have normal armor WHILE having an Col. templar. You're showing advanced plays, and mid-late game legend enemies. and by that rank templars have the ability to have 3 bars/GTS skills to give them a starting +1 focus at the start of a mission normally leaving them at the point of the game with a base of..? 8+10% to crit.
Unless I'm mistaken, if you lose any of the "hero" faction units you get a covert ops mission next month to recruit a new one. I lost three Reapers in my last game and always kept getting more. Also it seems like Reapers are the only faction where you can get two of them onboard at once. I've never been offered a mission to recruit another Templar or Skirmisher unless the only one I have got killed.
@@ThePrisoner881 Yo, old comment I know but in case you are still interested... I read that you can get two of the factions heroes from the one that you meet first. If you have the special 'Lost and Abandoned' mission enabled at the beginning of the game it automatically causes you to make contact with the Reapers first, thus if you deactivate it you have the potential to obtain two Skirmishers or Templars instead but of course you don't get the cool mission. Also, if your faction hero gets captured it's apparently possible to get a covert action to obtain another. I hope this helps you or anyone else who may read this thread :)
Uhm, dude, seriously? Templars is PSI not magic, unless Star Trek, Asimov and everything else SciFi has become "magic" overnight. The Templar doesn't have any swords... he has a pair of gauntlets.
MAGIC PURPLE SWORDS!!!

When you unlock all the abilities for a templar you feel like you have a chosen on your team
...Now I kind of want to get a full team of Templars for a meme team with true strength.
"WE WILL RETAKE JERUSALEM FROM THE ALIENS"

My life for Auir.
nice one

So, what you're telling me is: you've turned your Templar into an unstoppable god?! Lol that's an epic build.

Jesus I never noticed how god damn good Templars can become, I look forward to using them in the future
Yeah they can do a stupid amount of consistent damage. Not as much burst as a Shotgun Ranger but still solid.
Templars and psi ops are my bread and butter.
NEVER go on that last mission without them, and always try to max them out.
FBI 1987 right I adore psi ops
@Connor Fox
Depends on what your trying to do, but I get more usage out of my Templars until my psi ops out number them.
I highly recommend throwing Dodge and Mobility PCS on them and sending them on covert ops that increase these. They'll traverse practically half the map (more if you buddy them for extra actions) and almost never get hit. Mines only been wounded once and it was just a minor wound
Pro tips!

Ahh crap that's the Guerrilla Tactics perk right? I had a feeling there was something I forgot to check.
p.s. thanks for the tip.

Thanks man. Tempar scales really well into the late game. Its a big investment but totally worth it.
While we were researching rifles, they studied the blade (in the woods somewhere)
Favourite thing ever in xcom2 wotc.. seriously falls in love with templar playstyle.
Yeah the Templar is amazing.
Shit, never been this early... Love the videos man. Great quality on visuals, audio and gameplay. Much respect to you my friend. You'll reach big numbers one day if you keep this up.
Much appreciated! Glad you're enjoying it.
I found Invert is very useful against Chosen, especially the Assassin and Chosen teleport after taking damage and Avatar.
Yeah it's insanely powerful against big enemies. You can put them right in the palm of your hands and crush them!
The Tips and Tricks are Awesome. Great Advice, thanks!

That's insane. I do not think I could have predicted that.
If you can get blade storm on the templar, DO IT!
You just earned a new subscriber for this amazing well explained video :)

Great post! It will really help me play the Templar.
I'm a bit late to the party, but better late then never. I finally had the cash at the same time that it was on a great sale.
Haven't gotten to where I have one of these guys, now I can't wait...great channel :)

I still love your videos dude, informational and therapeutic.
Glad to hear it man. Thanks for watching! Also, Hello there.
iBluairJgR you’re actually the best for making that reference.
Apparently the elders put some cow dna in Mutons. Now they're called „Mootons“.

LOL I love situations like that. Makes me want to play XCOM again. I haven't touched it for a while. I arguably never wanted to put it down
I've been looking for a video like this for a long time
Glad you finally found it
Good information
I would watch videos just for this guys narrative
“Surprise surprise it’s Xcom”

Ha yeah I did that once with a bladestorm Templar but he died a few missions later. It was a very sad time.
I always give my templars high mobility so they can always run away and my main one is at a point he can sprint across small maps easily
good tips
What mod are you using that shows all the soldier stats on the pre-mission launch screen?
My favourite soldier👍👍👍
Step one activate the sectopod pod
Step two amplify
Step three take shots with dark lance
Step four use teamwork
Step five profit.
Well said commander.
Dope guide, thanks mah broodah
Cheers!

Such a useful video. Thanks for your help
Glad it was helpful m8! I'm a bit disapointed that I never made one for Skirmisher but at least theres something!
Thank you for making this video bro
You're welcome ;o
Wait, why didn't you cover Ionic Storm, Void Conduit, or Ghost?
I have a reason thought out but the best answer is #I'mStupid or #I'mLazy or #Forgetful
iBluairJgR It's okay, I was just a bit confused, that's all.
Great tips, thanks!
Hey all can you use reaper chain melee on a king enemy
Thank you
idk they've always felt like a less dependable and diverse ranger
especially now that we can pump rangers full of extra skills to make them the most op thing in the game
I got lucky and got a Templar who could unlock bladestorm. Which basically meant she was immune to the lost
You won the templar lottery lol.
@@iBluairJgR she's also able to get reaper
Templars are also extremely effective against Advent purifiers. ;)
Rofl the inside jokes are real! ruclips.net/video/I9D23kb2AE8/видео.htmlm38s
all jokes aside if you are lucky enough to get fortress on them they are really effective against the purifiers.
Imoressove viedeo, thank you
Ty bro
great tips
Cheers!
fuelling the internet here ;-p
I wish *I* was a Templar... 😢
I love how he says mooton instead of muton cus I do that too and I always say moooooo when they use blood call
Rofl its an old habbit I never broke. Mooton for life.
great video
Thanks m8!
The developers must have been StarCraft fans
What do you do when the modds don't work? Can someone please help me
Try reinstalling them or verify the game cache.
*sigh* i have to get the DLCS now at least i got the game free from PS plus, this isn't fair its my favorite class in the game psionic combined with a badass melee class aspect.
Question: Do you have any other Templar characters? Because it would be obvious but I would like to make one if you think you can get another one in.
Hmm for right now I don't have the option to recruit in any more. I've got to test and see if I can spawn them in manually without any bugs.
no skirmisher yet?
Not yet. Probably going to do it soon.
Still looking forward to one of these on the skirmisher.
I had a Templar with bladstorm at rank 2. F*** me she became overpowered real quick, especially against lost.
That's the dream!
Ahoy! :3
Cheers!

Using console commands to level up the soldiers. When I made this (and the Reaper video) I forgot to check the GTS bonuses so I didn't mention them.
nicee vid :)
Thanks!
Dam my templar is a Colonel and I realized I'm not able to get Bladestorm. My templar sucks.
