    Storyline:
In this frontier spin on Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Joan Hackett guest-stars as Margarita, the fiery, sharp-tongued daughter of a Mexican nobleman (Jay Novello). Having frightened off most of her potential suitors, Margarita may never be married-a sorry state of affairs for younger sister Eleana (Susan Silo), who cannot be wed until Margarita takes a hustand. It is up to Adam Cartwright to play "Petruchio" to Margarita's "Kate". Written on rottentomatoes.com
    Reviews:
"As an American actor/ screenwriter I think, "Woman of Fire" is not only a gem of an episode in this series, but also shows Pernell Roberts' wonderfully, inventive performance as the exasperated, but resourceful, "Adam Cartwright" trying to play matchmaker for the enormously talented Joan Hackett and her beau. Roberts pulls out all the stops with his clever, deft approach to the situation, as he trys to handle the fiesty Hackett. And the last scene where Roberts quotes Shakespeare as Hoss and Little Joe playfully tease him, is a joy to behold. Truly a classic, timeless episode... "When Jay Novello is visiting the Ponderosa from Mexico he brings his daughter Joan Hackett with him. Usually visiting daughters are popular among the Cartwright boys, but in this case the overbearing manner of this to the manor born senorita is getting on everybody's nerve. Nothing pleases her about the Cartwrights in this episode.
It's Pernell Roberts who feels the brunt of her displeasure and he reacts like Petruchio with Katherine in The Taming Of The Shrew. There's also Cesare Danova who is promised Hackett by Novello, he might take things the wrong way.
Joan Hackett who co-starred with Charlton Heston in Will Penny was praised to the skies for her talent by Heston in his memoirs. She died way too young.
An interesting if somewhat classical Bonanza." Written by bkoganbing on IMdb.com
"Overacting is rife in this episode which depends on a comic tone to excuse all of the hamming it up. Wearisome after a few minutes.
Beyond that is the '60's temperament regarding women. Early in the episode Adam turns the shrewish character over his knee for a spanking. Today we call that assault and battery. In the episode it is just a humorous moment." Written by rbirds-2 on IMDb.com
