Keep listening and keep reacting to the Quo. There is an amazing back catalogue to discover, too many to recommend. I love AC/DC, the Stones etc but nobody made music like Status Quo did in the 1970s - absolutely pure gold!

This band is an institution in Britain. They use to be on tour all year, every year, and Everytime they came round we'd just go see them. It was always fun, nothing more nothing less. Just good, good fun.

This band is an institution in the WORLD, we played it in our APC while driving right into a massive tree and still rocked out when we were pulled back to the regiment.
Also, the 80's my man.... Windows down, elbow on the door smile on your face and sun shining going down to meet the girls... Status, Bonnie Tyler and Motörhead on the cassette deck...

This song was very popular when it was released as a single, back in 1977. It reached no.3 in the UK singles charts and would end up being 70th in the most popular songs of the 1970's. Which ain't bad, considering. There's been more versions of this done than I care to remember, whether recorded live or in the studio. They re-recorded it with modified lyrics, (Running All Over The World), for SportAid '88, as one example. Live, it's one of many highlights of the show, as the crowd always join in with the title lyrics. It's a great, feel good song that became an unofficial anthem for the band and has been a mainstay of their live performances ever since. It's from the same titled album, which has a few other interesting songs within. 'Hold You Back', is probably the one you want to hear the most. It's got Quo's signature sound written all over it.
I'd be interested to see reactions to some of the deep cuts and other live performance numbers that are integral parts of their shows. Which include but are not limited to:-
    Forty-Five Hundred Times
    Roadhouse Blues
    Don't Waste My Time
    Junior's Wailing
    In My Chair
    Little Lady/Most Of The Time
    Backwater/Just Take Me
    Mystery Song (album version.)
    Softer Ride
    Oh Baby
    Railroad (album version)
    Someone's Learning

Quo, that great British institution, I'm glad you found them and that they give you the same buzz as many Quo fans get. For me though you have missed the best track they did live, The Roadhouse Medley live at The Party in the park, Smedley in 1992. It really is pure rock and roll and I think you'll get a buzz from it, for me it shows what this band is all about. I hope you do more Quo because they sadly wont be around much longer with talk of them knocking it on the head either this year or next year which will be a shame but inevitable given how long they have been going.

About 10 years ago, what many of us would consider the "classic" Quo line up, got back together for a reunion tour. They billed it as the "Frantic Four." I would recommend a little dive into that. They did some of their older songs on that trip. This was the 1970's line up I grew up with and on this tour, they did some of their older stuff. Less often played by the new line up.
I was blessed to see them again and will admit I had tear in my eye. I never thought I'd see this version of the band back together again.
Anyway, I've picked out "Road House Blues" ruclips.net/video/9QcK1KaY4RE/видео.html
"Little Blue Eyed Lady" ruclips.net/video/btuyq6mFLYc/видео.html and
"Fortyfive Hundred Times" for you. ruclips.net/video/nW5OqAcXvTU/видео.html

Got to agree heartily with all of these choices. I know that there are longer de luxe versions of 4500 Times (the Milton Keynes one is legendary with good reason) but the excellent fan footage with the Frantic Four at the Hammy Odeon in 2014 gives a realistic view of how fun a Quo gig was for a member of the audience. Just breathtaking chemistry between band and crowd. My favourite 30 second clip of video on You Tube is this video from the same gig. It is little watched because it is so rough and ready but no wonder... Watching it captures the euphoria of the audience at one of the sweet spots in 4500 Times, the musical equivalent of a triple expresso!!! Rock on! ruclips.net/video/kG2SKxjQrf0/видео.html

Have you heard "you're in the army now"? That came on in the car as my then girlfriend drove me to the regiment as we were heading out to Bosnia which seemed ominous enough but it's actually quite a good song. A bit on the slower side and didn't really apply to that situation (we did good, we stopped an ongoing genocide) but it's a great song.

The deal is that you are watching "Quo Lite" and if Rossi wasn't such an asshole this particular concert could have been the "Status Quo" otherwise known as the Frantic Four. They had been playing sold out concerts up to April 2014 with the original line up of Alan "Nuff" Lancaster (bass), John "Spud" Coghlan (drums), Rick Parfit and Rossi and they could have absolutely blown the doors off but instead Rossi reformed Quo Lite for this in June 2014.
It's a long a sordid story but basically cocaine and Rossi's ego basically forced Spud and Nuff out the band as Rossi wanted to do more pop/country and suddenly didn't like the "heavy - rock". Producing such crap as Going Down Town Tonight and releasing Ol' Rag Blues with Rossi vocal instead of Alan's original - even though Alan wrote it! Alan left and tried to get the name of Status Quo through legal means since he was a founding member.
Sadly Rick just went along with his cocaine mate Rossi, even though he wanted to play the more Rock orientated tracks, just watch the interviews on the Nyquest channel. You see how bitter rossi is and how happy Rick was to have Nuff and Spud back in the band.
To see what Quo was really about here's a few links:
ruclips.net/video/OccBNK_91y8/видео.html (Live in Madrid in 1975 - probably the best Quo live video performance around)
ruclips.net/video/JBJTSFnOYA8/видео.html (Big Fat Mama on The Midnight Special in 1974)
ruclips.net/video/LpOv3ff28L0/видео.html (Gotta Go Home in 1970)
ruclips.net/video/jc0esH5-6-U/видео.html ((April) Spring, Summer And Wednesdays in 1970)
ruclips.net/video/StKaUtIboXM/видео.html (Spinning Wheel Blues in 1970)
Then there is the End of the Road tour video - but Spud was no longer in the band at that point.

      @michaelkarlsson5966 2 месяца назад

Status Quo wouldn't have been the same even if they'd stayed together. I can't find any fault with Rossi getting interested in "lighter" music, on the contrary he does a great job marrying the styles of blues, country, rock, pop and a bit of irish jigs. I love it all, the different styles and sounds through the years and even though I cherish the Frantic Four, I love the other line-ups and lighter styles too. Not necessarily the 60s stuff, which I "only" like a lot. My favorite concert is "Just Doin' It - Live" which is amazing and there is nothing lite about it except from the energy of the band 😀

    • @technocracylao
      @technocracylao 2 месяца назад

@@michaelkarlsson5966 they have always blended the styles and that's the thing Rossi's ego got totally carried away wanting control over everything. Listen to the Nuff's interview with Australian TV for his reasons behind what went on.
The fans wanted Spud and Nuff but Rossi just wanted it to be the Rossi Show and that's what he should have done - created his own group for that kind of music and let Quo to be Quo.
But in regards to comment above - I was purely commenting on the fact that Rossi put "Quo Lite" back together for this gig after the Frantic Four Reunion which only finished their tour 2 months prior - so were show ready. Just think how awesome this performance could have been with the Frantic Four - probably would have been high up the bill with a longer set time as well since Quo fans would have attended in their masses!
