When your dad said his voice sounds like a synth on beibs in the trap that was like the perfect description of Travis' voice with autotune. Just straight up sounds like an instrument.
This was a special album. Travis would go off on social media about how big of a Kid Cudi fan he was, and this was his first collaboration with him. Definitely a huge moment in your career for an idol to turn friend. I remember the goosebumps I felt after hearing Cudi on the second track, I didn't expect 2 features.
This was also crazy as a Cudi fan because I don't think he had transitioned his sound to modern trap quite yet. It was the first time he embraced the new wave of rap in a way.
You dismiss so much of hip-hop with this statement. Late 80s till like 2001 was arguably "the peak of hip-hop". The craft and genre was developed so much in that period. Early 2000s you had acts like Dre dropping one of the most classic hip-hop albums of all time. Eminem dropping his best work. Jay-z dropping The Blueprint and Black Album. Ye with College Dropout. Madvillainy. 50 with Get Rich or Die Trying. I think there is not "one" era in Hip-Hop that is better then the other. Hip-Hop/Rap has evolved and progressed as a genre for so many years. Who would've ever thought that it would become the most popular genre in the world. Every era has great albums and music. Don't get me wrong, I love Travis. That's why I'm here.
