I can see how upset you are about the mould. When people suggest dehumidifiers they mean the type you plug in. The little ones are only for putting in a wardrobe or cupboard. You would probably need at least 2 dehumidifiers for a house that size. They are so effective. You leave them running 24/7 for the first few days then you can set the level of humidity on them so they just kick in as and when. The house will feel so much better. If I was you I would buy 2 20litre dehumidifiers, meaning they can extract up to 20 litres of water each day. This would make an enormous difference, and help your daughter's breathing no end. Even if you buy one this month and one next month it would be a start. Rising damp is a bit controversial. Check outside that there isn't a flower bed or earth above the level of the damp course.
I have 3 Meaco dehumidifiers and they solved my damp problem. They have a laundry mode on them. I have to dry my clothes inside as I'm disabled and cannot get outside to dry my washing. The washing dries in no time.
We had someone out about mold at our house recently. He said firstly to stop drying clothes inside the house (use tumble dryer and have window in whatever room that lives ajar), open windows for half hour or so every morning, make sure door of bathroom shut and fan left on for a while after use (6 in our house so lots of condensation after we have all used shower) basically it is not having good air flow. We have a dehumidifier in kids rooms now and one downstairs. They were quite cheap and don't use too much electric. Also said to have heating on low for a while a day too as a cold house with too much condensation does make damp and mould happen quicker! Its a mission but making small changes really did help. X
The first flat my granddaughter lived in was damp in all the rooms and was told by the estate agent to dry the clothes outside and get a tumble dryer. They didn't have an outside and no room to put a tumble dryer. In the end they sent inspectors round and they found the guttering needed replacing and they had Ivy growing on the wall that had got into the brick work. They were on the top floor and the mould actually went up the inside wall. We soon got her out of there and she never had any trouble in the next flat. So it wasn't her fault. Also we don't have a tumble dryer and we don't have mould. I an electric airer. Can be so expensive using a tumble dryer a lot.
What about a dehumidifier apparently they are very good. Sorry I’ve not read all the comments so it may have already been suggested. My friend says the electric ones dry clothes really well too in the same room.
I agree. You need the electric humidifiers. Also if you were using both bathrooms for showers, perhaps they would have a chance to dry out better since you have so many people that need to shower.
We have Lüften every day (every window open for a time every day, even in winter.) Our bathroom has two windows that are always open a crack. There's only four of us yet we still get damp. Our house was built in the 50's and has thick walls. Keeps the heat in lovely but dampness is a pain. Our double glazing needs replacing but there's no way we can afford that. I would love to have an extractor put in the bathroom wall but because of our thick walls it is too costly. Lots of bleach and mould spray. And i buy bags of absorbing crystals from Savers and put them in tubs for every window. I have got one of those vacuums for the windows and bathroom tiles and that makes such a difference. Thouroughly recommended. 👍
Before Christmas I bought a cheap £1 wardrobe dehumidifier to hang in my wardrobe and forgot about it until I remembered it was there took it out and the hanging bag was full of water I was so shocked so I have now moved my plug in dehumidifier into my room and the water it collects is amazing.
I would agree with another person's opinion about an electric dehumidifier. I have one brought from argos . User's very little electric . It's an investment . I understand they are not cheap. But it's a priceless bit of kit xxxx
Can I ask about your heat source pump? Does it work out cheaper on your heating? Would you recommend them? We’ve looked at getting one but have been quoted a good couple of thousand pounds for one.
There’s not much difference in energy cost from dual fuel gas & electric to air source, it does work harder in the - temperatures but it’s very reliable 🤷 as we don’t have gas now we’re hoping to get solar panels to cut down on the electric cost 😉❤️
may i say, i had the same problem with mould. for the bathroom seal get domestos white bottle bleach spread the bleach along the seal through nozel then get some toilet roll twist it into like a spiral shape and place on seal press into the bleach and leave over night and see what happens it got mine back to white again. for the ceiling bye the hg mould spray wear a mask and step on some steps and the spray the mould spots on the ceiling please make sure you use small spraying actions as very strong. its fantastic and the mould stays away for abit. i get the same trouble but since using the stuff i dont get the problem as much. xx
Have you got a fan and a bathroom heater in your bathroom? Those two things together and ventilation hopefully would help. Mould is a worry for health, so hard to manage in rooms etc. Not sure what other countries are like in terms of healthy home standards for rentals etc but in NZ there are strict standards in terms of ceiling and underfloor insulation and most homes have heatpumps installed
Don't tell me about the Damp Zoe don't envy you pal, Flow Flow that was the BEST Sandcastle I've ever seen Well done, PMSL love it how she threw the Spade but then Demolished them so funny Flow your a Star, See you soon Guys x
Zoe, I feel for you and I'm a property manager. I could suggest dehumidifiers/ bags of rice etc but I say LEAVE for the health of your family. Find another home. Rising damp is not your fault. It's a problem with the house.
Who and how do you get soemone to check the mould I private rent and it be a year in Feb we have lived here and last 3 months or so we've had alot of mould to the point we are all getting headaches ect. I clean then regularly,. I have a 17 month old and every bedroom and bathroom is covered. I know. My house needs work and my landlord is aware but he's not in a rush todo anything ice msgd several times for things to be done and he doesnt care My front door leaks water daily and I have a door on top of my stairs a glad one leading outside.. That's the worst ever.
Very sorry about the rising damp issue... Mold and damp are just so stressful to manage and a constant battle in the winter. Investing in a couple of Dehumidifiers that you plug in ..they don't use much electric..has been very helpful to us..I have one running by the entrance to the bathroom for a couple of hours a day. It dries the clothes and towels and dries the wet walls after people have showered. Best to keep the window closed while its on so its not taking all the moisture from outside rather than inside!!! In the Spring I spray wipe all the walls where the mold grows with vinegar and then wipe with bicarb of soda and it does kill the black mold spots!!
Use cotton wool balls covered in bleach zoe but leave over night, if possible for the rim of your bathroom sealant. It got rid of mine. Hope this works for you. Xxx
Buy an electric dehumidifier or two. I have 2 in my 4 bedroom house. I run it in the bathroom and where my laundry hangs. They really help to take moisture out of the room. X
The landlord should have a professional treatment done to at least slow it down. It is soul destroying halving to tackle it so regularly. Not to mention health issues. Also that drain should definitely be maintained at least every six months they know it will block. Zoe the bits that are still showing touch up with a bit of paint, that’s what I do. Makes you feel better.
It was lovely seeing Ben and princess Florence on the beach making sandcastle. And the weather looks beautiful and the view is breathtaking. I remember in my other house we had damp in the bathroom and tried all sorts and ended up using bleach and water mixed and it did help. I really enjoyed the video.😊😊
Honestly guys, a tiny bathroom for your large family, and to top it with mold, would have driven crazy early on. You must eliminate the damp and mold. It's not healthy.
I read the recommendations here and they are quite good. The electric dehumidifiers are a good idea. Yes, they might raise your electric bill but your family's health is the priority here. Best Regards! Use safety precautions when applying strong chemicals.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh dear , hope there beds aren't damp, our roads are awful to walk on side streets paths are shinning with ice snow , there is no grit , all bins empty , it's really bad , to get workers to hospital nurses etc , a team of 4/4s have been taxing, worker to work and been on call as been very touching , been like this from last Saturday, schools been shut a week , it's not main roads it's side streets , and school yards are not safe , X X , aww Zoe damp a problem, there all well used at your house same at my son they have 7children , X X I have gas fire on low all the time , and a oil heater on day night to on low , I sit with hot water bottles , throws , I haven't had central heating and hot water for nearly to years as boiler broken keep saving but then cost of living as taken my money birthdays Christmas, haven't had hair cut for 4 years , but not to complain, people worse off in war Zoe's , and flooding areas , x chin up all of us , x
hi sullivan family love the start of your vlog new pictures they are great you were talking about mold well i get that in my house in the bathroom i open all the window and iv got sprays it does work a bit it come and goes iv got dehumidirier all over the house and they get lots of water in them and some in the living room well in love your talk about mold iv leant a lot see you in the next vlogs
When we were renting and had mould the letting agent kept telling us we needed to turn the heating up but leave all the windows open it used to drive me crazy because that is not practical or cost effective. The only thing that used to help was leaving all doors to bedrooms open at night so the air could circulate through.
You should see a solicitor about the disrepair because that’s out of order with the mold, the hot tap,the toilet leak..etc..that’s disgraceful and your landlord is taking the p**s..😡
A solicitor will cost about £250/hr + VAT before they have even written a letter on your behalf. These jobs are small jobs and can be easily remedied. Zoe you are getting upset but you are seeing this as a cleanliness issue when it isn't. This is a lifestyle issue that is becoming more prevalent now we all have sealed unit double glazing. Bath sealant needs replacing every few years. It gets mouldy and is hard to clean. Just re-seal for a tenner or thereabouts.
I tried mould magic on the mould on the silicone and was amazed at the difference , was perfect but much better. Seen plenty adds for it and was sceptical but decided to give it a try
Hi we’ve had mould problems in the past and we used HG mould spay it works amazing never had a problem again, it’s very strong but it gets the mould away in seconds highly recommend.
Zoe you need to get them out again to fix the taps and leak on the toilet little flo making sand pies is a durable she so independent I love your channel love franxxxxx❤❤❤❤❤
Im in an older council flat, its freezing cold, damp keeps coming back and all they say is out the heating on and open the windows… Fine, you pay my energy bills then The boiler is on the point of just giving up but they won’t replace for another year - even though they’re having to repair every month as it keeps leaking onto the outside wall - clearly not helping. It’s beyond depressing
We have an old house (over 100 years old) we had quite alot of mould over the years we have lived here. Thankfully most of the worst of it has been sorted now touchwood.. Though we do now put a mould treatment directly in the paint, Keep all the trickle vents open, as well has heating on for at least 3 hours a day and windows open for the same amount of time. We only have an issue of a crying wall atm which noone can work out why. Its a never ending battle huh
Around the edge of bath, dip some strips of toilet paper in undiluted bleach and press down firmly around the affected areas. It will dry hard and leave it on as long as possible. Works on mine!
The council should put it all right with the mould, they need to put air bricks in all the rooms to let the air circulate around. Damp course need sorting in down stair bedroom, girls shouldn't be sleeping in that room.your shouldn't be drying washing indoors , it will course more damp in the house . The council have a duty to sort it as they are breaking the law and you could take them to court for it
Sandcastles are fab Florence well done ❤❤. I know what you mean about housing problems we have a leak in hallway everytime it rain over a year now still not repaired take forever to come out then say let you know when we contact housing association disgusting soon moan if rent wasn't paid .
So sweet, Daddy and Florence! Zoe you do such a wonderful job cleaning...motivates me to do better. So sorry about the mold problem. Sounds like you're doing the best you can.❤😊
Hello Sullivan the landlord should help mold is terrible for asthma.my landlord the state did and inspection he was told to clean it up. I hope they can help❤❤
Hi guys I have from Russel Hobbs dehumidifier and it’s game changing. My daughter room was so moist and mould everywhere. Since I have in her room Russel Hobbs dehumidifier moist level are better and mould gone. It’s bit pricey but definitely worth it. And if mould and moist is different parts of home you can change location of dehumidifier. Like 1h one room then next one again for 1h. And not just Russel Hobbs there are other brands too to look out for. 🙂
Hi guys, really feel for you with the mould and damp situation, it’s just awful. Experienced it couple of times and not pleasant at all but as Zoe said a lot of time it’s down to old buildings and being told to ventilate then heat house, is just hard to keep up with. Hope the situation gets sorted out as you have such a great house. Loved Ben and wee Flo on that glorious beach, sandcastle time ❤
I live in an old victorian house my girls hate how cold it is but i dont have mould or damp anywhere i believe its because the 2 coal fires blow cold air down the chimney, i do pity people with damp homes but newer houses dont have coal fires anymore😢 energy companies are too greedy nowadays so id rather buy a bag of coal to keep warm..❤
House cleaning just a never ending cycle & the addition of mould issues, no wonder it’s driving you nuts Zoe. Can your GP provide written report regarding your daughters asthma for the council which may help them take some action to improve the issues ❤️
Sorry about the mould, nothing worse, it should be sorted though for you, how cute were Ben and Flo making sandcastles in the beach, beautiful view in the background, xx❤😘
Bless you Zoe 💖 not easy getting rid of mould 🤦🏻♀️ your always trying 🥰 I hope it gets sorted 🙏 Your always cleaning bless you. It’s so hard to dry clothes and keep the window open if it’s cold 🥶 So nice to have time together at the beach 🏖️ I hope Florence feels better bless her 😍 Thank you for sharing 😘
I have owned two brand new homes and never had mould I now live in an older property and mould is a huge problem, my fitted wardrobes were constantly smelling damp so I emptied the wardrobe and the mould was all over the back of my wardrobe I now use these little packet things which were full of water! Once mould grows on sealant you can never get rid of it unless you rip out the old and replace it! We get it on our ceilings as well and the amount of beds we have had to throw away is ridiculous! We use the mould cleaner but it doesn’t work very well! I was told to use yacht varnish and paint that over the damp and mouldy areas I have never tried it because it would be a nightmare to paint or wallpaper over it, painting the mould areas with bathroom paint is also supposed to help! Florence walking with her bucket and spade was so cute she looks so much like Ben, they have a the same nose Flo is absolutely adorable, I hope she feels better soon! ❤❤❤
Check that the toilet is actually leaking. Cold temperatures can cause condensation to collect on the cistern and the pipe. This then drips onto the floor giving the impression of a leak.

That’s what I do and it works.
Thank you ☺️❤️

Pour neat bleach on the side of the bath and leave for an hour or two then rinse. We all battle this problem in the bathroom.😤
It was lovely seeing Ben and princess Florence on the beach making sandcastle. And the weather looks beautiful and the view is breathtaking. A little bit ❤
Or ask the council to install a dri master unit in your loft , I heard they banish mould
Ahh ok thanks Diane ❤️
You should see a solicitor about the disrepair because that’s out of order with the mold, the hot tap,the toilet leak..etc..that’s disgraceful and your landlord is taking the p**s..😡

Thanks for the comment ❤️
Zinser mould resistant paint, scrape out the sealant round the bath reaply
Enjoy your videos!

Sorry about the mould, nothing worse, it should be sorted though for you, how cute were Ben and Flo making sandcastles in the beach, beautiful view in the background, xx❤😘
Bless you Zoe 💖 not easy getting rid of mould 🤦🏻♀️ your always trying 🥰 I hope it gets sorted 🙏
Your always cleaning bless you. It’s so hard to dry clothes and keep the window open if it’s cold 🥶 So nice to have time together at the beach 🏖️ I hope Florence feels better bless her 😍 Thank you for sharing 😘
Thanks Dani ☺️❤️
Speak to the Council about all the broken issues and the mould. They need to house you somewhere better.
Your landlord suppose to sort mould by law now. If they don't u can take them to court. Cillit bang black mould remover is gd . Or bleach xx
Thanks Helen ☺️❤️
Isn’t it down to your landlord to sort this for you, especially with so many children?
If the mould is caused by condensation then the landlord won't be able to help.
@@RR-lb5veThe toilet leaks so that’s down to the landlord
Check that the toilet is actually leaking. Cold temperatures can cause condensation to collect on the cistern and the pipe. This then drips onto the floor giving the impression of a leak.

Aww thank you Linda ☺️❤️
Im in an older council flat, its freezing cold, damp keeps coming back and all they say is out the heating on and open the windows…
Fine, you pay my energy bills then
The boiler is on the point of just giving up but they won’t replace for another year - even though they’re having to repair every month as it keeps leaking onto the outside wall - clearly not helping.
It’s beyond depressing
