These Mustangs one thing everyone agrees is that there own Fender mods- twin reverb etc. is incredible as you would guess since its there creations- I like the Champion 40 for its simplicity but you do not get those Fender mods some of the voicing is close but if you know what your doing (unlike me this Mustang rocks).
That depends, for user friendliness I prefer a tablet where I can see what I'm doing anyway. You can with Medusa an app on your iPhone or Android..try it out.
I just got a very nice used one for 60.00 at Guitar Center. At first it was a bit overwhelming, but after watching a few demo videos & messing with it for a while, I got a grasp of what it could do. Now, this guy's got it down, plus he's a hell of a player, so watch and learn, then go get one for yourself, it will make you want to play for hours on end. A great little amp!
Martin, I have been watching Videos the last few days to decide on which modeling Amp I wanted... I kept coming back to this one... You have helped me make up my mind to choose the Fender Mustang II V.2 over the Marshall Code 50 watt and Peavey and Line6... And Dude, YOU play very nicely! Thank you.
Brilliant video! Thank you for simplifying the creation of a new preset. You've got amazing guitar skills. I've never heard this amp sound this good in any other video. Well done!👍
Anton, thank you for this review... You couldn't have chosen better guitar styles & tunes for the Fender tube amps! Lenny sounds very authentic & those blues arrangements were perfect. Full of atmosphere & very relevant... the best demo on RUclips :-)
Had this amp for over a year, didnt know I could do this. Ive def edited them before without knowing and have always been frustrated that some of them sound so terrible. Time to fix it. 😂 my mentality has always been just stick to the amber those sound best but now Im about to go get those new custom tones! Merry chrysler
You should try the fender fuse software, you can add in take away the delay pedals, put them infront of the amp , in the effects loop, add compressors, all that stuff you can do visually. I dont know how any one managed to use this amp without the software, sad to hear they were left on stock presets hah, you can really dial in some nice tones with these amps and the software makes it so much easier. You can even turn off the cab and use your own impulse responses in your DAW. Once its hooked up with USB it acts as interface too so you're good to record, mix and match with external plugins or even turn everything off and use the studio preamp mode makes it act like a direct input that you can run all VST plugins instead. Not the best specs (44.1khz 16 bit) for an audio interface but not bad for an all in one package.
I looked at a few reviews, yours was by far the best. I bought my Peavey combo new in 1979, the Mustang will be the second combo I've ever purchased! Thanks.
Great video, helped me to get a better understanding of how this amp works, I have the same amp hooked up to my 2019 Fender Player Series Mexican Strat and I don't come close to getting those awesome sounds you were putting out, I just can't find that one sound I've been looking for.............
That is world class riffage. I came to gather info about the Mustang II and, in addition to learning a lot about that piece of gear, I heard some sharp and stunning fretcraft.
I love that "britsh 60" sound. Nowadays there's some good solid state amp with this sound? (only EQ controls, volume and "gain/saturation". Simple stuff). Vox are too much expensive.

Great review and some damn good picking. I just got one of these amps today with no owners manual, don't think I need one now other than the pedal I just ordered. .
That was great! I really like super-sonic, and biritsh 60s models. '65 Twin Reverb, '59 Basman and '57 Deluxe were spot on too. With a little tweaking you can really get a great sound out of this.
if have this amp . no need buy pedals. many amps do not go well with pedals anyways. here you have everything a rock and blues guitar player wants and also a country musician.
+Perry Toad thnx for your comment Perry! the pro junior is a small tube amp, but its true that the possibilities on the mustang are great. The mustang is cheap...so perhaps you can have them both;o) kind regards, Martin
Why use a mic and an audio interface at all? I have connected my guitar to mustang II guitar amp. Then, using an aux cable, i have connected the headphone output of my (fender) guitar amp to my laptop mic input!!! The laptop is running Audacity software. Please tell me what I'm missing compared to the setup you shown us....thanks!!

After you saved the preset on green B, when you scroll the preset knob and come back to green B. The little red LED will light up in the top left corner above the Gain knob. That indicates its a saved preset?
Good question! as a matter of fact I didn't noticed it. Don't have the amp anymore. But I think you could be right about it. Maybe you can find it in the manuel?

Great video! I've been using this amp for several years with a mic to a Zoom 12 then onto a Bose L1 Mod II, but only have a few presets I normally use. Manual says Amber is all factory presets and can't change without Fuse, but I'm able to change treble, bass, effects, etc. and save. Is this a glitch in my amp? Not cause for concern I guess, but seems I can do anything in Amber that I can in Green and Red, just curious. Thank you!
Hello Martin . Very good review . I'm planning to get a new amp , and watched your demos about the Mustang II , and the Fender Champion 40 . Hard to make up my mind between these two , since both seem to sound good . Which one do you prefer soundwise ? and which one would you recommend . Very good playing by the way , congrats .
thiphu nguyen thanks for comment! Personally I prefer the Fender Champion 40. It is less complicated. But if you can't make up your mind it is best to check them out in a local store. All the best!
thiphu nguyen My main amp is a tube amp but wanted lightweight amp for practice to carry from room to room in my house. Had a Mustang II. Did not like it. Factory presets are unuseable, and generally I found the tone to be artificial and digital. To get better tones from this amp you MUST plug the amp into your computer and interface with the Fender FUSE software. I ended up spending more time tweaking the presets than I did playing. Now have a Champion 40 for practice which I like much better. Simple to use, great tones. More like a Superchamp xd (tube/ss hybrid) than a Mustang. Great little solid state amp!
You can adjust the effects level by holding down the EXIT button while rotating either the MOD or DLY/REV knob, depending on which effect type you want to adjust. For clean sound I always use a clean amp setting like twin reverb for example
To get a completely clean sound turn the amp off, wait 5 seconds, hold the tap button down and turn on the amp. I think this only works in the pre-set modes.

Lajos Vas For country you need a good clean twang like twin reverb. You can check this site for inspiration www.fender.com/tone/presets/surf-jam-1223368880
+Martin Abouttone Yes, that's exactly my reasoning, but to me it also sounds like the Mustang has better distortion sounds, more natural, less artificial sounding clipping. Would you agree? I'm only a beginner and I can't really tell.
+Martin Abouttone I was leaning more towards the champion too. I'll definitely go to all the music stores in my area and try both of them and others. Thank you for your answers and for your videos!
David Rodriguez Not sure if I understand the question. If you chance the preset it is changed. There is a way to go back to the factory settings, you can read it in the manual
Great demo Martin considering the II or III. Probably go for the II as III maybe too loud for home usage? Also what is the name of the song you played with the 68 Twin Reverb it was excellent? thanks
+glh1956 Tnx for your comment. For homeplay the II will work fine! the song with the twin reverb is influenced by Jimi Hendrix. First part are fragments of "Lenny" (Stevie Ray Vaughan) last part is "Third Stone From The " (Jimi Hendrix). kind regards, Martin

Is there a 4- button foot switch for this amp? I bought the Fender Mustang MS-4 but it either doesn’t work or doesn’t work with this amp.
Is this amp too much for home use?
No, I think it is perfect for it.
good review, is this one also 4 bassguitar
+MOCRO SHOW I don't think so
Damn..sick playing man!
Did you use a pedal or did those tones came from the amp itself?
thewillingwell
It’s all amp👍
And where is normal mode? Maybe I do not want to effect... ? Maybe I have mine effect?
it is possible?
Nodar Ctulhu
Hmm this might not be the amp your looking for...
What to choose for Country Music ?? or end 50s sound like Jimmy Reeves lovesongs??
Lajos Vas
For country you need a good clean twang like twin reverb. You can check this site for inspiration www.fender.com/tone/presets/surf-jam-1223368880
@@MartinAbouttone a late than you.
@@RenoWeedLajos deluxe reverb or twin reverb will be nice
I don't know if I should go for the Champion 20 or the Mustang.
Mike Bean
Yep! I know what you mean. Champion is easy to use. Mustang has more options. Thats the choice you have to make👍
+Martin Abouttone Yes, that's exactly my reasoning, but to me it also sounds like the Mustang has better distortion sounds, more natural, less artificial sounding clipping. Would you agree? I'm only a beginner and I can't really tell.
Mike Bean
I would go for the champion and if you want to take it to small gigs or rehearshal with a band I would take the 40 Watt
+Martin Abouttone I was leaning more towards the champion too. I'll definitely go to all the music stores in my area and try both of them and others. Thank you for your answers and for your videos!
Mike Bean 👍
Is there a way this can be used in Reaper without latency? I have an focusrite scarlett.
Or is there a way to use fender fuse as a plugin?
hey Martin once you save how do you go back what you were playing before
David Rodriguez
Not sure if I understand the question. If you chance the preset it is changed. There is a way to go back to the factory settings, you can read it in the manual
Maybe its just me but I hear an Ibanez! Great video btw!
RGPLAYER25007 tnx for your comment! yeah you might think that it is an Ibanez but it is just my simple Strat!
Does the champion 40 have better sounding than this?
Thanks man, and good luck!)
Thank you!!!
Hi just bought the Fender Mustang 111 V2 amp can you get settings for the early. Sixties sounds example The Shadow or Hank Marvin? Thankyou
Hello Kenneth
For That sound check: fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/presets/gustavo-rocha-leite-h-marvin-toneecho/
Good luck!
Thank you so much! :D
vaghan1 👍
Great demo Martin considering the II or III. Probably go for the II as III maybe too loud for home usage?
Also what is the name of the song you played with the 68 Twin Reverb it was excellent?
thanks
+glh1956
Tnx for your comment. For homeplay the II will work fine!
the song with the twin reverb is influenced by Jimi Hendrix. First part are fragments of "Lenny" (Stevie Ray Vaughan) last part is "Third Stone From The " (Jimi Hendrix).
kind regards, Martin
What about an electro acoustic guitar, does it works on this Amplifier?
Achref Roubhi Guitar
I don’t know🤷♂️
It does, but not with the hard rock and metal presets
