Just wrote a flow like this 5 hours ago! I stored the source data in a SharePoint document library and fired the Power BI refresh whenever the item in the document library was updated. So simple, so awesome!
nice, thanks. Is there a way to manage a result from Dataset refresh action? So a new Power Automate step can be triggered to notify if Dataset refresh got an error
Hi Jon that was a great content!!! I tried to do that and I followed the exact steps you mentioned but didn't work .... do you need a gateway in order to work? Thanks
but when you do the refresh of the dataset in lets say one minute interval, it allows you only to refresh 8 times if you have pro account, and 48 (this might have been updated, not yet tested) times if you have premium capacity
Hi, Very nice demo. I have a similar requirement, but when Flow starts, it seems it is triggering all dataset refresh and not waiting for the refresh to complete and hence sequential data set refresh is not working and the email going at the end of flow also do not make any sense as the refresh is just triggered BUT not completed. Is there any way to refresh multiple data sets in a sequence and send an email after completing all the refresh?
Really sooper.. Is there any way to create report which reports are throws errors because of user credentials ...? I would like to display this report in powerapp. Means assume that a user is created a report , now that user is left from organization. It will throw credentials error or refresh the report.. so I would like to capture this kind all the reports which is having credentials issues Next one is is there any way to take full control and publish with another user this kind of reports .? Please reply
Hi, I loved your video! I super understood! But have you a video explaining how to build it? I'd like to transfer that power automate data to power bi, but I don't know how...
Good video! How can I do so that the notification is only sent in case the update has failed? Because the way you did it, the notification is always sent and we don't know if the dataset has actually been updated. Thank you!
In my case, the flow runs successfully, but it doesn't actually refresh anything in PowerBI. I am using an Excel file on sharepoint as the source data. Does anyone have any idea why that is the case? Parameters are correctly marked as per Jon's instructions
Hey, I am throwing you an idea for a new video. Refresh the dataset by using - web UI flow !!! It's easy and there is no limitation of up to 8 times a day like you presented in the video. Good luck!
Hey John, any chances we get a Refresh Dataflow action on Power Automate? If someone relies a lot on Dataflows it is simply not useful to refresh the dataset since the Dataflow is still outdated. Tks for the great video!
Great information. But my data is in cloud and I have created a Power BI report by Import mode. How can I automate the reports? Please help me on this.

Hi John, This didn't work for my web data source. Is there anything else to be done for web source? It works if I manually refresh data in Power BI desktop.

Hi Jon, this is great. Any idea if this works for SQL data sources as well?

Hi Jon. This is great! thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. Is there anywhere within Power BI- I can look to see that Flow has been set up for a refresh on the dataset?
Interesting,
its encouraging me me to try with Power platform d365 tables

As soon as i get the UI Flow stuff installed, i can do this!
Hi Jon, is it possible to refresh a specific query or table?
Thank you so much for this awesome content! My work is much easier after watching this!

Hi Jon,
Is the Swag dataset is a streaming dataset ?
I thought the Power BI - Refresh data set feature in Flow only for streaming ?
Thanks in advance.
It is possible to do refresh database dataset
Hi Jon, the way of explanation is superb,. Can you please make a video to update parameters in power bi dataset using API?
I will see what i can do!

So what is the difference between incremental refresh and automate in terms of reference
Is this available for all license
This is available to refresh at any interval or also based on other systems activity
As it is a power bi service tool is this available for all license
I made my first successful one from this… 👌👍
Yeahhh buddddyyyy!!
really helpful
So glad you thought so!
hi, schedule from blank option is not there anymore, can you please tell me if there's another way out? Thanks

I don't see the point as you already have scheduled refresh in Powerbi, trigger refresh only when something happens ?
I showed you how it would look once it did refresh, instead of waiting an hour for it to happen.
hello, how to link excel with power bi?
I am trying to refresh power bi from a sharepoint list, and this flow do not work.
Really helpful!!!
I am new to Power Automate. If PowerBI is connected directly to the live database, Power Automate would be redundant, wouldn't it?
Correct, this is for a non streaming dataset.
Can it happens automatically.? I just want to refresh my dataset every 1-minute automatically.
Yes, trigger schedule, set to 1 minute
Action, refresh dataset
Just be warned. This will blow through API Calls
@@JonJLevesque thanks a lot

yes you can
