@@MyOnlineTrainingHub What about those new data files that we will add in folder in future which may have less or more columns ? By clicking one refresh button would it work fine regardless of less/more number of columns in a new file ?
Wow thanks. I had such problems having ADD & ADHD with intermediate level & advanced level excel courses from Udemy. I'm no genius but need tools to run my business. This could be a game changer thanks for the ULTRA CLEAR explanations.😀
Wow, this is an amazing feature and explained so well. I used to spend about 2-3 days a week manually manipulating and purifying data then sorting and putting it into a readable format… now after watching this, it took me a couple of hours to create a Power Query that auto sorts and produces much better data by just putting the new report in the specified location and then refreshing. 😳 just gave me back half a week a month and some great recognition from the boss for the implementation of an innovative solution. 👍😃
Wow, that was beautiful! What a great job showing the power and usefulness of this tool. I have been using it with Power BI for a few years now and learned some nice tricks today from your training. Great job and a big thumbs up!
I don't know if you have it already, but a video on how to deal with source files having changed column order or names, or even new or deleted columns would be cool. As it is now, I keep having to manually rebuild (as I load them as tables, to then run custom columns against)
Unfortunately, it's not that straight forward because the subsequent transformations will be referring to these columns, so how you handle those is where it gets messy and really needs to be dealt with on a case by case basis, rather than one solution fits all.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub So I have to change the coding each time to adapt it you mean? Hopefully Excel gets smarter in the future to cover for this then.
Wow! I got new learnings here. Before I used to clean and merge multiples files manually but because of this video Power Query is the tool to use. Thanks and more tutorials.
This is great stuff! Question: If I want to create multiple pivot tables / charts from the same data (to create a dashboard in excel), would I just create a connection (as opposed to going directly from PQ to the pivot table as you did)? Thanks! I really enjoy your videos and teaching style!
You need to load to a PivotTable to load the data to the Pivot cache. Then you can copy the first PivotTable and modify as required. Alternatively, if you load it to the data model you just load as connection only and 'add to data model'.
Thanks that was excellent. Though I couldn't help thinking you would benefit from a monitor bracket to raise the screen height, they look so low your back will suffer in future. Hope I'm wrong. Thanks again
The very first video regarding power query I have watched, and I have learned loads. Brilliant and your follow along (simple to complex) method of instruction is phenomenal. Only thing I could not do was to get my Order Dates to group (Years, Quarters, etc), they all showed as individual line items; and when I tried to group them manually i got an error stating grouping was not allowed with this selection. Other than that, I did everything perfectly.
It is the first time i have subscribed a channel even before starting or watching the video and it paid in return a meaningful insight after watching the video. Good work
Wow, I found out about this too late! Thank you so much for your clear and impressive demonstration. It's great, especially how your data effectively presents different usage scenarios!
Hi Paul, glad you enjoyed my video. To answer your question; if the discount is 8% and you multiply the quantity x price x discount, you'd end up with only 8% of the pre-discount sale value, when what you really want is 92% of the pre-discount sale value i.e. 1 - 8% = 92%. Hope that makes sense.

This video is such a lifesaver. I had to find the average of a particular value in 365×2 .dat files. I was doing then manually, got tired by the tenth file😄 Then I came across this video. Thank-you soo much.
Hi Hasan, because the data needed to be unpivoted BEFORE appending the files together. When you have to do transformations like this, they need to be done in the sample file so the transformations are applied to each file and then they are appended. Try it and you will see.
Primo. I am quite adept at doing all that with tables and VBA, but I like learning new things especially if it helps me move on to PowerBI. Thanks. Well done.
Hi, thank you for the Video, I have some questions actually if you don't mind 1. Minutes 6:35 - Why we must use the transform sample file to work instead of the real data? I mean we can "Undo" if we did something wrong with the real data? 2. What does Column Label Critical mean in the Pivot Table? 3. Seems your sample data is "clean-enough" already, we just need to split columns, do multiplication, and stuff. How about if we have some "dirty" data like we must do so many functions such as TRIM, CLEAN, PROPER, and so on. Can we do it in power query as well? Thank you so much.
1. When you're unpivoting data you must do so in the transform sample file because this step must be done before appending the files. If your transformations can be done after appending, then you can use the final query. 2. Not sure what you're referring to. 3. Yes, you can do all the other transformations and more in Power Query.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Ohh for number 2, in the pivot table we have low, medium, and high results for each year (2017, 2018, and 2019). And we also have some numbers for the critical, what does it mean? Thanks.

Then I came across this video.
Thank-you soo much.
Glad it helped!
Hi, thanks for the video. One question - why did you apply changes to sample file first. Why not to the Data itself directly?
Hi Hasan, because the data needed to be unpivoted BEFORE appending the files together. When you have to do transformations like this, they need to be done in the sample file so the transformations are applied to each file and then they are appended. Try it and you will see.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub thank you.
Primo. I am quite adept at doing all that with tables and VBA, but I like learning new things especially if it helps me move on to PowerBI. Thanks. Well done.
Glad you liked it :-)
thank you so much to create this fantastic tutorial, you're the best Excel channel by far. And one of the best teacher ever. Greetings from Ibiza :)
Wow, thanks! so much
Thanks for your crisp video. Its so simple to understand. Your tutorials are amazing.
Glad you think so!
Hi, thank you for the Video, I have some questions actually if you don't mind

Ohh for number 2, in the pivot table we have low, medium, and high results for each year (2017, 2018, and 2019). And we also have some numbers for the critical, what does it mean? Thanks.
Critical is worse than high...e.g. if we don't get any stock in the coming days we won't be able to fulfill orders.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Ohh I see...thank you so much.
This blows My mind and will change my entire structure.
I just don't know how to thank you for this vídeo 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌.

Wow, that's awesome to hear, Carlos!
I really appreciate your videos. it's helping me a lot with my studies.
Happy to hear that!
Wow, this is impressive. I'm realizing so much of what I learned to do with R can also be done in Excel
Great to hear, Maggie!
Really good video, very easy to follow. Well done !
