A severely underrated drummer. Definitely up there with Portnoy, Orbin, Yoshiki, and the rest. Animals as Leaders is full of world class musicians. One of my new favorite drummers.
I love the sound of snare ... even if serves only to be enhanced by effects, in the editing fase.weirdly reminds me police snare sound XD. and this guy is perfect ... nothing more to say

To everyone who feels the need to argue about times signatures: Any song can be rewritten in any time signature. It's just a matter of notation. Sure, it may help with phrasing to think about it in a certain measure, but to a computer or someone who is going to play exactly what's on the page, it will literally all come out the same.

My favorite thing about this video are the Tabla sitting behind him. I can't wait for the new AAL record, where supposedly Navene is going to live track the drums (after they've been "written" by Misha and Tosin) I think its going to add a whole new dimension to the sound, and if we're REALLY lucky they'll get Evan Brewer to play bass!
This guy's one of the best new drummers to have a moderate degree of success that's come around in quite a while. At least, to my knowledge; no one's arguing that this guy and his band are just phenomenal.

I read people commenting about how insane the drumkit sounds. WTF! This drummer is one who could probably make a 250$ drum sound like pure genius. It's not the drum set, who's awesome, it's the drummer.
@Mp5Drummer For the record, technically it is a cover, all the drums were programmed, and was completely done without Navene and as far as I know, prior to his or Javiers joining to the band. But this video is beyond breathtaking. Perfect execution, and a snare sound you would set fire to yourself for.
That's some excellent drumming. The reason the drums sound so clear and crisp is because they're properly mic'd up, unlike in the vast majority of RUclips videos.
I'm very interested in drumming but I don't have many chances to practise. Yet I think it would probably be very satisfying to be able to play these patterns through. Great job, I love AAL.
Navene is the rock-star version of Chuck Norris. @musicfreak360 in the album the rhythmic pattern in this part (hard to figure, i had to slow the song) is 11 32s 5 times and then a 9 to complete 64 (4/4) and the hi-hat is doing it too. but here he plays a simple 4/4 pattern on the hi-hat
I was always caught up in listening to Tosin, wasn't until I saw this video that I realized the insane amount of time put into the drums tracks for the album... Truly amazing.
It is a cover. He joined the band after the song was composed and the drums programmed. He simply played with them live and wrote the 2nd album drum parts. But this is the first album with the drums programmed by Mansoor.
@CaviesPWN misha from periphery/bulb programmed the drums. Matt Halpern was in Animals as Leaders for a bit, then joined Periph. Navene joined AAL before one of their tours like last year or so. Everyone involved pretty much rules.

the most impressive part to me is keeping track of the wierd ass time signatures, holy shit its confusing MAAD respect this guy's an influence for sure
@rollinfever15 im no Navene but what i found helpful is just singing the groove and feeling it at first rather than counting it, when i counted it it sounded like a random mess but when i sing the grooves a feel them as i play it helps me relate it to 4/4 a lot easier and helps with figuring them out
At Emo's?! Hell yeah!! The first band, everybody was all hxc dancing and shit. But once you guys came up, everybody got emotional and awestruck. I almost let out a tear, but hey, quicklikeabunny let out a shit. Amazing Band!!!
Navene hasn't left for good, at least that's what it said on the article I read, the new guy is filling in on the tours. There was no bad blood in the departure so here's hoping he will come back in a while, I wish him the best of luck in whatever else he wants to do though.

The thing I like most regarding Navene's playing style is the diversity of drum patterns he uses. Very unusual and still so freaking good!
