      @@zay_tiggygaming honestly it’s a wait and see. Capela and Nance are on the last years of their deals so I wouldn’t be shocked if we traded one of the by the deadline. I’d probably want to trade Capela to give Okongwu the starting spot, but I’m not as confident about that as I once was just because Okongwu hasn’t been that good this year, and his progression has stagnated.

    Dyson’s offense is raw and relies on floaters more than shooting, but i definitely see the potential! Defense is so much better than we could’ve hoped for.
    Larry nance definitely needs to be the backup PF to Jalen Johnson like we all were expecting.
    Jalen Johnson is a future triple double machine😩 definitely thrives next to a PG that can pass and create like Trae, but his own playmaking is definitely improving
    Okongwu finally having that big final moment today hopefully boosts his confidence to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor!
    Risacher is 2/3 years younger than Jalen Johnson and Daniels, but we all saw his scoring and defense potential a couple games ago. Future is so bright.
    All I keep thinking about is what Jalen Johnson apparently said on the way to the locker room after risachers big game : “WE GOT A SQUAD NOW, WE GOT A SQUAD NOW”😂😂😂

    When and if we get everybody back, these injuries will be a blessing in disguise. Not only has it forced Risacher into more mins and higher level situations early, it's stretched the playable depth from 9 - 10 to at least probably 12 that could at least hold their own for short spurts.

    After the trade for Dyson i had said that, if you don’t consider the draft capital we gave up for Murray and financials, Dyson for Murray straight up would’ve been a good trade solely because of what we needed on the roster, his potential going forward, what Dyson brings to the table ability wise and his willingness to play a role off of Trae. Having said that, even I’m surprised at how elite he has been on the defensive end. He’s playing at DPOTY type level.
    I’m excited to see how he and Bufkin look on the court together. A lot of size and length, both seem to have a nose for the ball. Neither are true PGs but they can both play on and off ball. Both are decent passers. Really looking forward to seeing how that looks.
    Hawks just need one more piece imo. I like Okongwu but he doesn’t have the size or athleticism at the position that I believe an optimal Trae Young led team needs. Hopefully we can get one of those tall, long, and athletic late lottery to mid round centers that have been available the last few drafts. Like a Derek Lively, a Jalen Duren, a Mark Williams , a Walker Kessler, a Sengun, a Kel’el Ware, or a Yves Missi. I’d even take a flyer on a goat life Kai Jones 😂. But there have been quite a few centers available in recent years near the middle of the Draft, hopefully the Lakers pick can net us one this year.

    This game displayed everything I have been saying about Boston. You don't beat Boston by shooting threes with them. They are small and they struggle to protect the rim. Destroy them on the glass, and berate the rim. They also have only one offensive engine and that's Pritchard. Late in the game, Bostons offense was stagnant and almost unwatchable. I love the win for the Hawks, but I think it says more about Boston's roster deficiencies that no one is talking about in the national media.

    • @LockedOnHawks
      @LockedOnHawks  Месяц назад

      They aren’t quite the same team without Porzingis but it’s funny to frame it this way for the reigning champions lol

    • @Spencetenor
      @Spencetenor Месяц назад +1

      @@LockedOnHawks I know they are the defending champs. I am saying people are attacking them in the wrong way. Every team is trying to copy them by taking a million threes when that's not their strength. I think that's why they dominated so much in the playoffs last year. And I know things are different without porzingis but I don't really think he's that much better of a rim protector. His entire career before coming to Boston he was kind of a defensive joke. He has gotten better since going there and making the full transition to center. But, I still don't think teams actually fear him as a rim protector. Either way their weakness is in the paint. So we have to attack them there more consistently.

    The more I think about these hawks, the more optimistic I get.
    Not Trae bashing at all, but if this team can get healthy. Maybe they can actually develop and build chemistry. If Kobe can develop into a serviceable PG, we really can match up with any of these small ball lineups the league has. Big body scoring 5s might be a problem, but the 5 should be our main priority to upgrade.
    IMO we have 4 guys who has, Minimum star level potential Jalen, Risacher, Dyson, and Kobe.
    (Dre if he was healthy)
    Let these dudes get out there and figure it out.

    Hey shows what development can do...Nance Jr has developed from that pogo stick to a well crafted player(again bball being chess Nance being the rook). Pritchard got attacked the right way....still De'Andre man guy has to play Viet to...Hawks gonna end up kicking themselves if they don't get into the playoffs..shades of Sac Kings team with Dyson being Senior Christie...too many well crafted pieces would love to see them play together

  • @KevinJames-sd4qj

    It would be nice if for once you could focus on the guys who actually played the game and give them all the credit, without throwing Trae's name out there more than once who didn't even play. We know he's a basketball God to you, however, there have been several games, even last year, where he did not play, and the team won. They tend to know they have to rely on each other, and they focus more on defense and getting their teammates involved. Are they better without Trae? Of course you aren't better without your leading scorer, however, even with him they have lost some games they should've won. They played without Trae and Bogi. WE GET IT. The question is why they aren't motivated to play this way with Trae more often than not. They definitely are a better defensive team without him, but he is needed on the team. The guys on the floor deserved all the credit tonight.

    • @LockedOnHawks
      @LockedOnHawks  Месяц назад +1

      respectfully, what in the world are you talking about? you don't think it was relevant that Trae didn't play in the game as context? you don't think it was relevant that the hawks were 16-point underdogs and explaining why that would be?
      yeah, "for once" i would focus on the guys who play as if i haven't covered the team for 14 years, "for once"!
      "we know he's a basketball god to you" is also completely ridiculous framing, but you probably knew that
      i probably spent 36 of the 40 minutes talking about the players who did play and broke down the game from about 50 different angles with nuance and detail
      but hey, cool comment

      The fact of the matter is they won the game, and it shows that they can win and play more together and for each other without Trae and this has been going on for years now. The last time they played together and wanted to play together with Trae was when they went to the Eastern Conf Finals. I would say they have had even more athletic and talented players since then and yet have not been relevant since. I'm not saying they have more wins without him, they simply seem to play better at times when relying on one another without Trae.
