My wife and I moved to Boston in 1984. That’s when my love and passion for the Cs kicked in. One of my most precious and memorable moments as a Celtics fan is when I got to go to the old Boston Garden and watch Bird, McHale, Parish, Johnson, and Ainge play and win a championship in 84 and 86.
There are so many likable dudes on this team. It’s hard to choose just one but there’s something about the resurgence of KP’s career here that is so exciting and cool to see
It makes me emotional as a Celtics fan to see how much he has embraced the team, franchise and city. This dude should have a spot on this roster for as long as he wants. Love the guy
@@jeffreyorcutt2876 As far as I can tell, that's why I'm praying it happens. There are at least 33 to have won both in NBA and NCAA. They are less than 10 to win back to back in either! However, none I've seen to be crucial in winning back to back in both leagues!!
I'm a Grizzlies fan but this was a great watch, Celtics are just a likeable team imo. So dope to see big Al finally get a ring, stoked for all the Cs fans who got to experience that win!
I’ve been a fan of Boston for almost 15 years now and I’ve seen all of the great players over the years, but man I don’t think I’ve instantly loved a player like I do with KP

I became a Celtics/basketball fan ever since they were in the Eastern Conference Finals against LeBron in 2018. Even in that short time, there's been a lot of ups and downs from this team but it was all worth it see them win it. I'm only 21, and I'm lucky that I didn't have to wait too long to witness my favorite team win a championship.
I became a fan in 2007 when it was just Paul Pierce. Then that summer they brought in KG and Ray Allen. I'd recommend watching the 2008 Celtics journey, and the full games of Celtics vs Heat playoffs from 2011-13. 2009-13 was just heart break after heart break.
Hope you've done your deep dive into the history of this franchise. If not, do so, because the Celtics and Lakers stand far above the rest of the league in terms of great players and titles, going back to the 50s. I would argue Russell over Jordan or LeBron any day.

I love this team bro. Been a Celtics fan for 25+ years.. this team made me feel some type of way I haven’t felt with any other Celtics team in my lifetime. I watched the warriors dominate the NBA for a decade. I get that type of vibe from this group. I feel a dynasty upon the horizon
Congratulations to the Boston Celtics on an amazing 2023-2024 season and winning their 18th Championship!!! A well deserved title and I was so happy to see it!!!
One thing to remember about Stevens is that he is only on generation removed from the greatest GM in the history of basketball. Auerbach trained and mentored Ainge, who then passed that on to Stevens. That's very rare in the NBA, to be so closely connected to one of the early greats and I think it does help Ainge. Auerbach was a visionary who was never afraid to make a controversial move.
What that dude touched on around the 37 minute mark is 100% warranted. Looking back, it really was crazy how much pressure JB and JT were under not just from the city of Boston but the whole basketball community as fucking 19-24 years old. I'm still just in my early 30s but when I look back at me when I was like say 23 for example.... I was practically still a fucking kid compared to where I'm at and what I am now. Yet these two dudes were expected to carry a historic franchise to championships at that same age. The pressure was there early because of how fast they overachieved (say that as a compliment, not an insult). Like yeah they get paid to do it but holy shit that don't mean it can't be mentally and emotionally stresseful/exhausting. That's really kinda crazy to think about. If I remember correctly I think JB opened up a little about having anxiety in his 2nd or 3rd season and looking back, goddamn yeah I can see why.
Can say Ime being stupid is the greatest thing he did for the Celtics when he was here. Gave us Joe and a better mindset than Celtics have had in a coach in awhile.
The first game I ever saw in the Garden was 2 days before Thanksgiving in 1956. I was 10 years old. Celtics beat the Philly Warriors 95-83. Bill Sharman scored 28 and Bob Cousy 22. Rookie of the Year Tom Heinsohn had 10, with 11 rebounds. The C's won their first NBA title in April, winning Game 7 in double-OT against the St. Louis Hawks 125-123. Heinsohn led the way with 37 points & 23 rebounds. The Cous had 11 assists. They had lost Game 1 by the same score reversed, also in double OT. Hawks star Bob Petit had 37 points and 14 rebounds. Bill Russell had 18 rebounds for Celts.
