I know this video is super old, and I'm playing catch up. My buddy has Terry Cable shocks and I'm curious, after I've watch your videos of RWD Shocks, Fox, Wilber, etc......apparantly you landed on Terry Cable as your preferred. What are your thoughts?
Matt really beautiful bike! On the BMC Seat you say you had it set back 2”. Is that on top of the 1” it sits back from factory seat already? Or did you just have them move it 1 more inch for a total of 2” Thanks !!
Nice motorcycle, although the weird alien music kind of freaks me out a little the only thing missing was Giorgio Tsoukalos talking about extraterrestrials.
Matt Laidlaw yeah it kind of sounds like that creepy outer space music that NASA plays when they want to show people UFOs but there aren't any UFOs in the footage.
Matt, gotta say I love your builds because they all integrate together to one ultimate "theme". Some guys, when customizing their bikes, end up with a very haphazard look, like the accessories were chosen at random. Yours always come together very well. Your also the only guy I know that can do the whole customization in one shot!! Lol. Most of us its buy as you go lol. That's awesome dude, love the bike. Now if only Harley could still make the SE PRO SUPER TUNER! Ride safe brother.
Yea, I always tell people that you should have a Ultimate vision in mind when you start that way it your bike doesnt just look like a hodge-podge of random additions
I honestly have never been a fan of white paint on a bike, BUT...that is one AWESOME bike! Great choice of accessories and accents. Enjoy! You did good!
Nice look Matt. I noticed you ended up changing to rear mirrors up on your bars....could you not see very well under your hands? I have a 19' Street Glide Special and wanting to put some type of similar bar. I'm close to your height.
I was gonna ask if you parked the Simpson lid and ricked a Storm trooper helmet, but someone beat me to it. I like the use of a coordinated Harley collection. Ita a great way to showcase how they look on a project build.
This was a Perfect Build. I came to see what mirrors you ended up using in some of your latest videos and the custom windshield is sexy!! Love the Bike Matt
You never did an updated storm trooper build on your bike. I’d be interested to see what you keep, changed or improved on your bike since original video. Like did you ever upgrade 107- pipes, cams. Big bore, etc.
Matt, What would recommend for upgrading the lighting for night riding without doing everything at once? Would you just leave the stock headlight and add the auxiliary daymakers? Or would just change the headlight for the 7 inch daymaker? Thanks!
Bold choice of build, bike and color, very unique.I was in the store that day you decided on that bike. I am anxious to hear about the custom rear suspension (lifted) and if that effects handling and balance of bike? I too am taller and feel i need some space to stretch out on my new bike.
Glad to see that you are getting your bike tricked out the way you want and in the process making it a one of a kind the Matt way. It is a beauty and I look forward to seeing you go on rides in SoCal where I used to hangout back in my military days. Keep the rubber side down.
I'm really glad you mentioned the pro-rated reimbursement for the extended warranty. I let the local dealer sell me an extended Harley warranty and service plan, and they mentioned that it could be transferred to a new owner but not that I could be reimbursed if I traded in the bike.
Does the windshield fit with the 3 pouch HD windshield bag? And how does the windshield do with being 6’6”? I’m 6’6” too and live in Illinois with no helmet laws. Riding without a helmet and to short of a windshield makes my glasses flutter. Beautiful bike!!!
Matt, how do you like the brass hand grips? I love the look of them but I was worried they would get sweaty and slippery in the summer. Do you like the feel of them?
Awesome Matt! I didn't think you could build this bike nicer than your Sand Camo Street Glide, but I believe it's even nicer! Congratulations bad ass looking bike! You gave me some great ideas for my Road Glide. Be safe, and looking forward to future videos.
What kinda quad did you use for the sky view ???? My 1982 lowrider doesn't like the thin air , I bought a breakout with less than 500 miles on it , I'll be taking that bike to Denver. I'll share this video with a Facebook group that likes star wars
Hey Matt, what is the part number for the extended front brake line needed for the taller bars? In the video you show two brake lines which I don't believe are the one needed for the hand brake lever.
Hey Matt, it’s been two years since you posted this video. Have you made any other changes? You were talking about maybe doing some motor work and possibly some stereo work, did you ever make those changes. You should do like a 2yr update/review on you bike.
First of all kudos on the build and I really like the fact that you let us know how much you had to put into it budget wise. Your 2014 Street Glide was a good looking bike too. I am considering a 2018 Street Glide as well. I think the 15" bars are definitely the way to go if you ride long distance. Keep the videos coming on the SoCal places to ride.
Looks great Matt... I didn't pick up if you've put taller shocks on this one? I'm 6'3" and am thinking about a Street Glide but think it's a bit cramped....
Yea. It has taller shocks. Terry Cable shocks. My seat sets me back 2 inches. With the taller bars it fits me okay. I’m 6’6’’ so with those two changes you should be okay. I also have footpegs to stretch out when I need it.
The custom dynamics are brighter and i like the halo look of them. The HD ones are nice too though. No, the wind shield still gives me a lot of head wind.
cool thanks for the update , well since your taller then the hover dam that would make sence he he, had a claer on on a rental m8 street glide from eagle rider i april last year it was maybe wider at the top but not taller, it came stock and was alright we did have wind on the trip but iam only 6"2 aka dwarf compared to you he he regards Sören
Matt, Nice build. I got a few great ideas from you. I really like the oil cooler cover. Custom paint on the bags look great! My 18 SGS is still pretty stock with the exceptions of adding the passing lights. I still get stopped everyday by admirers. let me know if you ever head towards Palm Springs. I am in Beaumont and would love to compare mods.
Beautiful bike. Great build. Wondering is there a big difference between a 18 & 17 street glide special? Looking for my first Harley coming off a Yamaha Raider. Also could I install a 2019 infotainment unit onto a 2017? Thanks in advance and again that’s one Badass build
SO MATT AFTER 2 YEARS OF RIDING , WHATS YOUR TAKE ON THE CORBIN SEAT YOU INSTALLED ON THE STORM TROOPER. YOU HAVE MADE SOME LONG DISTANCE RIDES WITH THE SEAT HOW DOES YOUR BEHIND FEEL AFTER A LONG DAY IN THE SADDLE?
It feels good man. There are some seats out there that would be better for long rides but for the combination of style and function I don’t know if you can beat it! I’m very happy with it.
I guess I know why, but still a bit surprised you didn’t do the extended reach shifter arms. That was the first mod I did on my Limited for my size 13s. But I’m fine with them coming in only chrome.
Dude!!! That is freakin sick. I'm sure Darth Vader would order a thousand of these. That seat is incredible...you could look at this bike for days and not notice everything!!! Amazing.
Storm Glide, that's perfect!!! I was wondering how you were going to make this bike look any better than it already does from the factory..... But you did!!!! Nice!!! Shout out to the Mechanics at Laidlaw's too. PS I think TIE fighters have that same seat.... just saying.
Really nice customization. The front fender graphic is awesome. The only thing I don't care for is the rear part of the seat. I might have added color matched fairing lowers for a more complete storm trooper look. Excellent video, looking forward to the SoCal destination riding...
Stunning Matt. Screams quality. Nice to see a custom job that does'nt look like some thing a teenage kid knocked-up in his bedroom! Well done. You have changed my mind about getting some leather grips for my 48 now i am gonna go with the brass collection grips to match my brass fuel cap. Thanks
Matt, can you break down the differences between the three different LED headlight styles H-D offers and maybe some pros/cons to each? My 2018 RK is in dire need of an upgrade but I’m not sure if I want to go protector Daymaker, Signature reflector or standard refelector. Thanks. Local dealership is unfortunately pushing replacement bulbs which I’m not interested in.
How do you feel about the wall seat after you having some time on it. I'm considering ordering one. I have street glide special and I'm 6'3. I'm looking for a seat that will push me back without sacrificing comfort. Thanks for the videos!
Great job Matt! Love the concept and execution. I'd love to do a Boba Fett or Jango Fett Glide. Oh how I miss SoCal...many a great surf sessions at T-Street when I was a grom.
Nice work Matt! Love the color contrasting. Does Harley offer any different engine bolts? The stock bolts always fade and look like crap in time. Thanks
I picked up a 2017 street glide trying really hard to not spend money on a bar job, I have a roadglide with factory 47 bars but man your making it hard, beautiful bike love it, my street glide is a 20k mike a year commuter trying not to put extra money into it
Sweet bike! How do you like that air cleaner? Any performance gains over the Ventilator or the Heavy Breather? Trying to decide what AC to put on my new RGS with the Stage II torque cam.
Hey Matt.............where did you get the handle bars from??.......any issues with tight turns??..........Would you recommend the 15" for someone who is 5' 10"??......Thanks for you help!.........JC
Hey Matt, great looking build!!! Question: are those the 4" or 4 1/2" Rinehart slip-ons? Looking for a recommendation for a 2018 FLHXSE. Will I need a tuner if the only thing I change is the mufflers?
Sir you have a amazing bike! White is really growing on me. I've always liked black the only one I could find was red which I love my bike. I'm really interested in the wireless communication kit!
You said they were 15 inch bars from Vindikta, however they only make 14 or 16 inch. I want to order these bars. Can you verify the size, please? And, thanks for the videos!
Nice bike Matt. One question: why did you choose for these shocks and not the Harley ones? Do you really feel the difference between your new shocks and the stock ones? I have a Road king special and also looking for new shocks but don't know which to choose. My dealer said I have to buy the shocks which are stock on the normal Road king. What is your opinion? Thanks in advance.
The stock shocks are good for guys that need the lowered profile of the stock shocks. Maybe a shorter inseam guy. I, however, have no problem reaching with taller seat heights because I am so tall. But, yes, these shocks make a huge difference. There is no substitute for more available travel length. The stock shocks are fine for me on smooth roads but the bumpy freeways around here get rough.
Z.T.F Mr. G i have the power cam in my 18 CVO limited. Really helps move that heavy bike rather quickly. Do you like to rev it out or just cruise at hi speed? If you cruise than get the torque cam.
I’ve been happy with it. The longest ride I’ve done is 900 miles in two days. The seat was great. I’d give it a 8/10 for long distance. There are better but in combination with the style it’s really good.
Storm Trooper motorcycle would be the safest motorcycle ever. It couldn't hit anything.
Lol! Comment pinned.

Awesome build Matt.. Will those bars fit on a 18 Road Glide? Since the video have you changed your headers and if so did you stick with Rinehart?
Stunning Matt. Screams quality. Nice to see a custom job that does'nt look like some thing a teenage kid knocked-up in his bedroom! Well done. You have changed my mind about getting some leather grips for my 48 now i am gonna go with the brass collection grips to match my brass fuel cap. Thanks
Thank you. Yea, I just like the fact that the brass is so unique and something new.
I’m not a fan of white paint on anything, but I love the contrast. I think the denim look just sets it off. Really beautiful.❤
Is the Harley emblem on the tank and the Harley Davidson on the bags free hand?
