The worst part of All Engines Go is that despite the negative reception, Mattel just cannot handle the critisicm and just use the “It’s made for kids” excuse. But when the kids themselves don’t like it, then they have no excuse. Mattel just wants money, plain and simple.
The biggest criticism I have is they make Thomas talk, not to mention they made him sound like a kid when Thomas has been around for 30 plus years. I also heard parents chastised the show, saying that their kids cried because they saw they changed Thomas
It's funny considering these 6 year olds who don't like AEG will have grown up with BWBA, arguably the worst era in TTTE, so it being bad in comparison to that is very telling
It's really interesting how some art styles look good in 3d and others outright hideous..! PPG and Danny Phantom doesn't look as ugly as Rugrats (and others by the same company), but they don't look any good in 3D either. Akira Toriyama humanoids look okay in 3D, but... When I played the Dragon Quest XI trailer... Man... The dog doesn't look good in 3D at all!
Let’s all be honest, everybody hated the cartoon Caillou for some reason. Personally, I found it annoying that’s why I stuck to Rugrats and Angelina ballerina, and some other stuff.
I'm going to be honest. The GoAnimate Caillou videos are mostly overall worse than the actual TV show, but it seems not many people bother to acknowledge that.
The saddest thing about the failed 3D shows is that you can create perfectly charming worlds in 3D. You can even make 3D look handmade by add cartoon shaders, or make it look like stop motion. Many games and animations do it. But those big animation studios make it as quantitative as possible for the quick buck.
Any kids show that exist gonna be 3-D And they don’t feel the same to me Gabbys doll house is literally just product placement for the toys sort of And shows like Camp coral it’s just marketed towards the movie
@d4n737 Dont say that GOD knows everything you think say or DO. You are offending us with your disgraceful mouth read the bible and limit your mouth or you will not share a good fate with the lord
A few things about Bob the Builder and All Engines Go: For the former, Wendy was a part of the original show. She may have been a builder less earlier on from what I remember, but she's still a member of the team, and is more prevalent as a builder towards the end. What diversity was introduced in the reboot was Leo, who feels like a great addition to the cast. It's just a shame that the show was as bad as it was. Also, I'm shocked that you were able to find footage of Dizzy, since she and Roley were basically demoted to extras. Lastly, I found the movie to be fun. By contrast, I have ZERO respect for All Engines Go. The artstyle is terrible, every last bit of logic was thanos snapped out of reality, The Fat Controller has an IPad, and there's an annoying Autistic stereotype (I can't even call him a representation, his existence offends me that much) in the show.
Also, All Engines Go completely disregards the "Engines cannot act without their Driver and Fireman" logic, allowing the Engines to act freely even without their Driver and Fireman. Also, the crashes are lame, nowhere near as spectacular as the previous 24 seasons and no more "Confusion and Delay".
That's always one thing I dislike when people criticise the reboot of Bob the Builder. They claim that one good thing about it is that Wendy has a larger role and is a good role model for girls now, when in fact she always was that. Like someome before me said, the business side is just as important as the construction side of building, and they also seem to forget that for 14 out of 17 seasons of the original run, Wendy was out actually doing construction jobs instead of working in her office. It's almost like the people writing reviews of the reboot only ever watched seasons 1-3 of the original series.
I'm just happy that the people behind Caillou actually improved on the original show, likely by listening to the criticism(I know big companies tend to be blind to feedback, but it'd be pretty impossible to avoid in this case). Too bad the damage has already been done; I feel like a lot of the bad reviews for the new one are just going off of tradition.
Thank you because I'm tired of finding many videos that involve hating Caillou, especially GoAnimate. Even the Family Guy jokes were better than that. Also, Caillou isn't all mischievous, hot-headed, whiny, and all that stuff, sometimes he's wholesome like when Sarah left for a vacation in China which led Caillou to miss her so badly.
One positive thing I will say about All Engines Go is that I like that they got Neil Crone to return as the voice of Gordon. He previously voiced Gordon over 20 years ago in the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
Wendy the builder was in the original Bob the Builder series. She even got a mention in the theme song! So the creepy reboot doesn’t deserve credit for introducing her.
Wasn’t Wendy in the original was involved behind the scenes of Bob’s business? PS was praising the new series for making her a construction worker which is a rare profession for women
@@pisces2569 She did it all in the original series! She was a builder and she ran the office! I always remember her wearing a construction helmet and a utility belt.
finally someone who exposed this bob the builder reboot!! I miss the original (well not just me), I mean, these machines' personalities has changed, like, Lofty from 1999 seems to be scared at times, but in the 2015 reboot, he's sarcastic. And also in that reboot, Bob looks like a person dressing up as a builder I mean, HE LOOKS LIKE... WHAT DO I CALL IT?? "MORTON THE CONSTRUCTOR" ?? And worst of all, Dizzy and Roley are excluded in the team, replacing them with Two Tonne and Leo.
One thing I'd like to correct about what you said at 3:18, there was a female construction worker in the original Bob the Builder. She was a pretty prominent character from what I remember, even having episodes centered around her.
I used to work in the toy business and after the 2015 Bob the Builder reboot flopped, I had to deal with no end of angry grandparents eager to get Bob the Builder toys only to find there weren't any and they were utterly oblivious that the reboot had been such an utter failure to the point that the toy lines were scrapped.
In season 2 or 3 of the original Thomas the Tank Engine, the animation got an update and started filming the models in such a way that they even looked to scale with real trains. It was attention to detail like that that made the show great.
The Island of Sodor feels like a real place in the first 5 seasons of the show and The Railway Series books. What you have mentioned here made the characters feel like real, full scale locomotives instead of toys.
As someone who played with GI Joe toys, loved the GI Joe Real American Hero cartoon, the overwhelmingly negative feedback to the animated Thomas the train show calling it a defilement of various things and a childhood ruining show, perfectly sums up my feelings about the live action GI Joe movies.
Words cannot describe how incredibly pained I was when I first saw the bob the builder remake. It was a genuinely scarring experience for second grade me.
The thing I never understood about Caillou is how much parents complain about it having bad messages and steering their kids wrong but then they still let their kids watch it. How hard is it to tell a five-seven year old "You can't watch the Caillou show because its a bad influence."?
I don’t think the hatred for All Engines Go! would be as fervent if it wasn’t a replacement for the original Thomas & Friends show. If it was a supplemental spinoff show instead, I don’t think anyone would care that much about it. If they hadn’t cancelled the original series at Season 24, there would surely still be people who criticize the show post-Big World Big Adventures, but I don’t think it would be as aggressive.
As much as i'm not a fan of AEG, i don't see it as a reboot from the writers perspective, and more likely a spin-off. Still, the hatred of it is redundant. also, the fans destroying the toys out of pettiness doesn't help at all, it makes them rather stupid. They paid the product and the money goes back to the corporation -_-
I haven't watched a Thomas and Friends episode in like 15 years, so I have no idea what the quality of the new stuff is like. Are they any good? I know the main consensus is that the newer episodes use CGI instead of the hand crafted train sets of the original show, which is what I grew up on. It can't be all bad, can it?
Thomas and Friends: All Engines Go is a disgrace to Reverend W. Awdry's creation. The entire point of The Railway Series was to teach children about trains, the railroads, etc. Engines based off real-life engines doing real-life engine work, even using real-life British countryside backgrounds from the era of steam trains. Now Mattel basically rebranded Thomas into a rip-off of Chuggington (according to some of the imDb reviews, the characters literally bounce from track to track, use their wheels as hands, and I've also heard that not even Chuggington got that bad). And it's not just that, EVERYONE *hates* AEG. OG fans like myself, and even the younger kids hate it. I sincerely hope that AEG gets cancelled and they bring back the GCI series, because AEG is just a cheap cashgrab.
I am quite surprised that Fireman Sam isn't here on how disliked the recent seasons are, especially on what they did to Norman Price, turning him into a literal whiny brat who doesn't get a rightful punishment.
As someone who grew up with the original Caillou I’m quite surprised with what they did in the newer shows by changing his character. Great improvement I guess.
"They introduce electric engines to Thomas." Kenji, Ettiene, Stafford, LITTERALLY EVERY SINGLE PEEL GODRED BRANCH LINE ENGINE. This isn't showing that there are many engines, just showing that they have introduced them a LONG time ago. Way before.. ugh, that piece of garbage.
Yeah, I concur entirely. I can barely given them (Mattel) a pass for the electric engines you mentioned - they'd already introduced one in Series 16 called Stafford and in the RWS Lore, an entire branch line/section of the railway was electrified *in the 1920s* due to the hydrodam up in the north of the island. There's a public pdf of, "The Island of Sodor: Its People, History and Railways" which details Sodor's history in conjunction with related history to the British Isles since the time of the Romans up until modern day when the book was published in the 1980s. I am waiting for someone outside the community one day to upload a video going, "Yo, the Thomas fans? Yeah those crazies? Yeah they have a literal lore bible-"
Sadly the original voice actor of Chucky passed away, but Nancy Cartwright did an amazing job taking over Chucky. My children haven't seen the new Rugrats, but I have shared the older ones with them. When it comes to Caillou as a Canadian I remember when it first came out and the voice was hard to listen to. And it was all over my local news when the original voice actor passed away. My boys have read the books but they haven't seen any of the Caillou shows.
@@Angrycat-pg5iv Nancy is alive and well, but she wasn't the original voice actress for Chucky in the 1990's Rugrats. She took over in the recent reboot of the beloved Rugrats series.

How to make a reboot 101 1. Take notes from Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. Perfect reboots 2. Don’t add modern generation stuff. It’s not gonna be funny and it’ll get stale and repetitive 3. Don’t make the animation garbage. Make it solid and perfect 4. Don’t add weird stuff or it’ll ruin it. Teen Titans Go and PowerPuff Girls 2016 are good examples for ruining what made the original great 5. Prey if the reboot you’re making goes successful
6. If you're going to change everything, then make it clear that it has nothing to do with the previous iterations. The Legend of Spyro and Skylanders are good examples. 7. If you insist on violating #2, then do so on moderation. Stuff like Electric Cars or Mobile devices are trivial at best, but if used correctly, they make good plot devices. Just look at GTA V.
So basically caillou is a bad cgi version of sonic boom but less dark and more humanized and yes better than the original yeah even I don't get it might try it out if they tried again and we'd probably be more tame to it but I guess we still have old caillou ptsd so that's probably why
28:09 Funny thing is: Mattel kind of revived it for a few seasons, then the soft reboot for seasons 22-24, which many hated due to poor writing and complete alienation from the series roots. Then comes season 25, completely changing it even to its roots. Also, the reverend Awdry, the creator of the railway series which Thomas is based / adapted from, said that once the Americans get control of the show, they would vulgarize and bastardize it. Guess he predicted the future.
One show that DEFINITELY needs a reboot is My Life As A Teenage Robot! It was a VERY popular Nickelodeon show, but Nickelodeon hated it for some reason and it was ended earlier then expected with season 4 cut short. Thankfully Jenny has been getting a lot of love since 2021!
I’ve heard if not for Ellen’s brand being part of it, little Ellen could have gone far, because the lessons in it are actually good for kids and the animation and style are good.
Agreed saw abit of because I frequent less legal sites and I actually liked how the stories didn't make me want to throw the child put the window which given the amount of children I had to babysit trust me that's a compliment especially given it related to her
The art style is really pretty, and better than a lot of modern preschool shows these days, and the clips look really cute. Too bad the animators won’t see the rest of their work put out… if it were an original show and not about Ellen, perhaps it could have been a second Bluey? Idk haven’t watched it so who knows.
Well...I think I could make a list of reboots that are genuinely good and genuinely make justice to their source materials: - All New Popeye Hour - Popeye and Olive Comedy Show - The Further Adventures of Superted - Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat - All-new Woody Woodpecker show - 90s Casper (the friendly ghost) - Mickey Mouse Works - Biker Mice From Mars 2006 - Tom & Jerry Tales - A new touch of blue (The Smurfs)
#7: Welp, time to pay Mattel a visit with my little friend 🙃 #6: Love the original voice actor’s dedication, but I’ll stick to the classic version #5: Burn all evidence before the 2016 version and it’d be decent #4: Cashgrab at its finest. I didn’t see the Lego Movie as one #3: Ooo bad timing 😬 #2: Running SpongeBob for 12 hours makes a lot more sense now #1: Taking another trip to Mattel with my big friend…
According to one of the original voice actors from Rugrats, it seems they never contacted the VAs for the adult characters. Which is sad since it seems that at least the one I’ve heard about, Micheal Bell, would’ve jumped at the opportunity, and has even reprised other roles fairly recently. It just seems strange to me to bring back some voice actors but not others.
I completely agree it just feels off having some back and not others it makes it super jarring to watch. I get that some of the parent VAs passed away but like what about the ones who didn't and wanted to come back and do it. Also especially with Betty being replaced made no sense since you got Kathy there voicing Phil and Lil so why not get her to voice Betty as well it doesn't make any sense to me I can never understand some of these reboot decisions it happens time and time again replacing some keeping others I just don't get it. If the cast of the original is willing to do it which pretty much most of the time they are then just bring them back.
Apart from the bad animation, the main reason I hated the Rugrats reboot was because of what they did to Betty. In the original show her and Howard were my favorite parents. It changed gender norms with Betty being the more strong onr and Howard being a stay at home husband type. When I heard they made Betty a single gay mom in the reboot and just completely wrote off Howard entirely, it infuriated me. Don't fix something that isn't broken! If you want a gay character add a new character, don't change someone or something that was already perfect.
None of the changes made sense.. The Simpsons did it with Patty, but the character was never been hinted to be a lesbian, at all. It worked better with John, that was a brand new character, pleasant with everyone and passionated over his work. And the excuse of "coming out of the closet" is such a poor one..
"Angelina Ballerina" is a particularly good example of this. The original had charm in great abundance in animation, voice, and story. The new CGI ones are bland, lifeless, and formulaic. Just torture to watch as they plodded on and on. OTOH, I thought the CGI version of Thomas was quite good. It stayed true to the original in showing the trains like they were and not bendy as in the manic cartoon series. I really don't think kids have changed that much that they can't enjoy the series as it was. I suppose it costs too much to make even in CGI so they opted for easy to do stunted animation.
What some people don’t touch upon in the new show is that in some episodes, while sadly rare, Caillou’s parents actually discipline him, and they even ground him not once, but twice! It’s great to see Boris & Doris get some character development so they can stand up for themselves!
@@Treeeee2008 This is better cause I’m goanimate sometimes the parents go too far & do things that are probably illegal. They don’t give Caillou punishment days, he just goes through a normal grounding. Maybe it’s not as satisfying, but it’s a lot more logical & while the parents do go strict, they don’t go overboard like in those videos.
I remember when Thomas was just a segment of a whole other show, Shining Time Station. When I got into my pre-teen years I got disinterested in the series when my older mind figured out there was only one voice actor doing all the narration and all the character voices. Though in hindsight that was a pretty impressive feat for them to pull off at the time. Kudos to all the actors who narrated Thomas over the years. When the show switched over to CGI for a while and every character now had their own voice actor, my interest in the show peaked for another little while.
@@AutZentus Yeah. I'm from Denmark and frankly didn't really watch Thomas once past the age of 7 so of course I have no familiarity with Shining time, I just know about it because I one day found a review on RUclips about that Thomas movie that was made, the magic railroad. And I just wonder who in the world thought it would be a good idea to make a movie for a global franchise, based around a tv block segment from a single country?
Ironically enough the same woman who not only wanted to adapt the railway series into the TV show but was also eager in pushing said show really hard due to it's booming popularity in the US. @@drdewott9154
Tbh I've always been IN LOVE with Caillou's original white border backgrounds. It really gave the impression of looking at a children's book. I miss that stuff.
The character design and art style of little ellen actually looks so cuuuute to me, I just have no idea what would ever inspire someone to make a cartoon about ellen in the first place?? like where is the connection? It was weird enough having a lil Bill cartoon, which I actually grew up watching, but never even made the connection until I was older anyway. They could have cut ties with Ellen the TV host and Im even keep the same name and have it be the same story etc and it seems like it’d actually be fairly popular
I like the idea of failed/hated adult cartoons, so I hope PhantomStrider does one someday. I remember going to a movie and seeing the previews for _Father of the Pride._ At first it looked funny and we all laughed, but as the preview progressed, everyone got dead silent. I later learned that the show did very poorly, in part due to Roy's mauling in 2003. The intensely bloated budget that the show required at the time didn't help matters. I would be curious to see what other "adult cartoon" shows did badly or crashed hard, just as a matter of interest.
Honestly, especially with a show like Thomas, I don't get why they won't just air old episodes. It clearly worked, people loved it back then, why would it be different now?
To put it blunt and cynically: can't make new toys out of old shows. They want the show to sell toys to kids, and that means they need new episodes to show off new toys. The old Thomas continues to sell merchandise to people who were fans of it decades ago, but that's not the market Mattel are aiming at.
@Sammy_The_Umbreon speaking from experience here, I grew up in the early 2000s so around the time HIT Entertainment soft rebooted the show to be more geared towards toddlers, basically the age I was when I was into Thomas. Growing up, I would watch the episodes HIT was cranking out at the time, but I also had dvds of the older episodes from seasons 1 through 6 (mostly from seasons 1 through 4 with some from 5 and I think a vhs tape of episodes from season 6 which I didn’t watch too much since our vcr broke early on). And even as a 3, 4 or 5 year old, I liked those older episodes much more than the HIT ones airing on PBS Kids. I watched them way more, used them as a reference for imagination while playing with my toys, and would stop watching the main PBS Kids channel when I found out PBS Kids Sprout had a night block where they aired nothing but classic series episodes from Thomas. Even as an adult, when I think of Thomas, my memories I associate it with the most are the classic series episodes, and almost nothing from the HIT era. Anyways, this was back when the earliest classic series episodes were just over 20 years old at the time and that didn’t stop me enjoying them. So if 4 year old me from 2006 could still enjoy those episodes, then a 4 year old 2023 could enjoy them just as much
@@KDapple I was born in 2007. I was 3 when Hero of the Railway came out. However, as a young child, I have memories of enjoying both the older seasons and the HIT era. Overall, in my opinion, anything is better than AEG, even BWBA
Damn, what a shame. Little Ellen looks so good and it seems like such a kindhearted show, the only issue I see with it is the fact that they tried tying it to Ellen. It didn't have to be her, I have a feeling that if she wasn't a character in there at all, the show would not have been hated so much. This is really sad
@@durratulaishah3703Reminder that the studio jumped back by animating The Cuphead show on Netflix. Shows that some studios can be separated from other productions.
It kinda reminds me of how audiences must've felt about Little Bill- which I wonder if Little Ellen's title was referenced from? Which be somewhat ironic but very unfortunate. I fele bad for all the animators, writers, artists, etc who dedicated a chunk of their lives to this, only for it to be flushed down the drain because of bad rep. The show did seem like it had some effort put into it
Honestly, I just kinda feel bad for caillou at this point. The creaters have fixed the flaws from the original multiple times, and still, almost nobody has given the series a second chance.. Edit: Dang, I've never gotten this many likes on a comment before... People actually agree with me on this???
I kind of agree with you. Even around the the original series I saw some change. Around season 4 is when I noticed that a lot of Caillou’s bratty behavior significantly decreased. Sure he was a totally unbearable brat throughout seasons 1 to 3, but by season 4 is when he started to become a lot more tolerable. Unfortunately by that point everyone made up their minds and just gave up on Caillou without even giving him a second chance.
Rugrats reboot wasn't the best and with many of the adult actors passed away it makes it harder. Personally, I was couldn't stand that Kimmy was no longer related to Chucky being a missed opportunity!

I used to watch Thomas and Friends religiously as a child so when you showed clips of it in this video I got so excited; this show looks not only as good but even better than I remember it! Absolutely gorgeous. There’s a lot of great kids content if you know where to look these days (hi Bluey) but that Thomas remake is not it. I recognize that using digital animation as opposed to stop-motion is inevitably cheaper and easier to produce but that original stretch of British television is absolutely timeless for their choice in medium.
Bluey is absolutely fucking amazing, I'm 16 and it has a special place in my heart. Kids should be watching actually good shows like Bluey instead of trash like AEG
i went to bowness park in calgary because they had an actual life sized thomas on the rails, but i was disappointed when i saw all the kiddy mush on all the posters and playing on the stereo.
It's not a bad reboot, but you forgot about the CGI reboot to Thomas the tank engine, Thomas and friends. I love how the characters transitioned into 3D, and they actually have voice actors for the characters besides them just being the narrator. I love how the trains mouths move, and how the story is for each episode or movie. In fact, the CGI reboot actually got me into Thomas to begin with from how good it was
Another thing that I really like about CGI Thomas is the diverse amount of new train designs that were introduced in it's later seasons, rather than just creating yet another steam engine or generic box Diesel engine, and even brought in old and forgotten characters from the Railroad series to get some more love, like Gordon's brother, the Flying Scotsman. Also, a bit of correction on Strider's part, All Engines Go didn't actually introduce electric engines. It was the CGI series that did, by introducing Stafford, whose design is more grounded in the setting of 1960s Sodor, compared to All Engines Go throwing everything old and modern into one giant pot.
@@ThighFish I know, but I think I should just point it out. It technically is a reboot since they hire people to voice the characters separately from the narrator
#3, it's like with "Little Bill". After the controversy with Bill Cosby came to light as early as 2014: stuff like "Little Bill" and "Fat Albert" essentially dropped off the map.
The influence still exists in other shows, but in places where it's hard to remove but you can ignore it. Such as Codename Kids Next Door, where Numbah 5's dad talks in a very similar way to Bill Cosby as a reference, and even wears colorful sweaters. But again, it's a small detail for a character that's not in very many episodes, so it's easy to ignore. But yes, everything he directly had involvement with is basically lost media now.
I think a big factor to the disdain for All Engines Go, primarily for younger kids, is how drastic it changed its style going in. Thomas has had several soft reboots in its time (Seasons 8, 13, 17, and BWBA), but in all of them the characters and world were almost unchanged from what came before. Jumping from Season 24 to AEG in the span of a year really damaged any chance of it getting viewed well, and even worse so given All Engines Go is treated as a continuation of the original show as the official soundtracks label the AEG seasons as Season 25 and 26.
@@BronyumHexofloride exactly, they were just trying to cash in on the success of the little blue tank engine and thought their thing was better when it wasn't.
I said this on your previous video about Modern Cartoons and I'll say it again: I'd love to see you do a revamped "Best Modern Cartoons" list where you talk about newer shows like Amphibia and The Owl House as well as the Sequel serieses to Adventure Time.
The topic of the Rugrats reboot I was a little bit upset cuz I did some research and they removed his grandfather and grandmother who were Jewish (Yiddish Zaydee and Bubbeh) It made me a little upset since I felt like Tommy's grandparents played this big generational gap and told stories of events before my generation

Funny thing about the Bob the Builder 2015 reboot, that wasn’t the first time Bob was in CGI, the first time was for the 2010-2011 seasons prior to Mattel's acquisition, and those were done better than the 2015 one
instead of Rugrats reboot, they should of made a sequel that follows a new group of babies who are the kids of the original cast of characters after they have grown up even more after all grown up
As someone who's working tirelessly to create his own cartoon series, I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that several shows on this list just feel soulless especially the last one. And that's a crying shame because when done right animation is more beautiful than words can describe! At least to me anyway. Luckily there are many, many creative people in this world that can and continue to do better than what these shows offer. Still, I can't help but wonder... How can CGI from Pixar and Dreamwork look so beautiful most of the time, yet everywhere else it just looks bad nearly all the time? Maybe it's just me but it's really jarring when THIS many animated shows cut too many corners.
_"But Mattel, when even the kids are saying your animation is too kiddish, I'd wager you're a very silly engine!"_ Snapped the -Fat Controller- PhantomStrider.
I’m a massive Rugrats fan. My favourite animated show ever. I really enjoyed all grown up, I didn’t care for preschool daze like a majority of people. But I really liked the 2021 reboot for what it was overall. I mean I don’t love it, but I’m glad it got brought up to some capacity. This was the original SpongeBob as far as I’m concerned.
@@e1iteyoshi998 I might be one of them but I’ll never diss on the reboot. I love Rugrats no matter what. I’ll take it over SpongeBob any day of the year.
When I watched four episodes of Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go, I was so disappointed about it that I gave up being a Thomas fan back in 2021 and ever since from a couple of years ago; I never thought Thomas of all shows would go that low. What upsets me is that Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go dumbed down the audiences and children. Imagine a child saw a train and expected it to jump like show; this shows that children are not that stupid but the show and the company that owned Thomas (Mattel) is trying to make kids stupid. What makes the original Thomas The Tank Engine show so much better is that they’re not talking down to their audiences and all the episodes are not written just for children but they put elements that even parents and adult can enjoy. That’s my input about Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go. Saying this as a “passed Thomas fan”
@@alexanderliu9376here’s my question, why does does Thomas sound like a little kid, he has been around for 30+ years, and not to mention why does he talk at all, he’s never talked, the narrator says what Thomas thinks. @@ntfoperative9432 Actually, the engines did talk by having their faces animated in 2008 in series 12 but the following year, all the engines were animated in full CGI Plus series 13 to 16 were made during Hit Entertainment's ownership; although series 13 to 16 are not as good as the classic series, series 8 to 12 or series 17 to 21, Hit Entertainment never threw away the concept that Thomas is nothing more but a train.
Great video as always! I wonder if the older cartoons are better than the newer ones. This video immediately reminded me of your Top 6 Worst Kids Cartoons video from 2016.
I feel like the reason most cg kids shows nowadays don’t look good is it’s shading. When you compare the 2D SpongeBob show to its 3D Camp Coral counterpart. Or even the Camp Coral segments in the third SpongeBob movie compared to the series. It’s shaded in black which just makes the shows look way less appealing to the average person let alone kids. Maybe this just a budget thing, but I feel like if these cg shows used a diverse range of chasing colours other than black. They would look way more appealing.
I think a better Rugrats reboot would be the Rugrats being adults (since it’s an old show) facing the struggles and challenges of work and adulthood, as well as being parents of their own children.
One positive thing I can say about “All Engines Go,” besides Kana’s inclusion as an electric engine, is how much I like the inclusion of Bruno the Brake Car, the first official autistic/neurodivergent Thomas character of the franchise. The way the writers, producers and animators depict Bruno in each episode I’ve seen so far has been a blessing to me, considering how I’m autistic, too. If what’s current in a Thomas show soon comes to an end, Bruno will be the number one character out of the whole series I’ll miss. Come to think of it, “All Engines Go” has started to grow on me, little by little, with each episode I’ve seen so far, so, as an alternate universe to the original series, I think it’s safe to say that it’s… okay at best. Not good, not bad, just… okay. But back to Bruno, if a new series that utilizes elements from the Railway Series ever gets made to replace “All Engines Go,” I wonder how such a character as him will fit in. 🤔
@@MatiEP09 True, but it wasn’t officially confirmed. Of course, that won’t stop us fans from making it official in their own headcanon or Thomas series’s, if they make any of the latter.
As a long time fan of the original Thomas and Friends, as well as being a railfan in general, I hereby thank you for putting the god awful 2D reboot... aka All Engines GO!... in the No. 1 spot. :) Cause no matter what.... I'll always be a fan of the original for life since it is what got my start in loving my No. 1 favorite thing aka Trains for a long time to come. ^^
I swear there is such a massive gulf for the talent needed to create kids shows, it takes people with a deep knowledge of storytelling and child development to make something formative like Bluey, meanwhile a drunken kindergartner could easily write an episode of slop like paw patrol.
@maddyezman4150 i agree at least paw patrol teaches great lessons and the animation is actually great as someone who’s in the fandom this may shock those paw patrol haters out there yes paw patrol actually has a great big following in the ages between 12-25 but got off topic paw patrol actually isn’t as bad as people think i think the spin off is a little worse in the beginning but the reason for it was because it was rushed due to Disney doing another paw patrol copycat
Part of why Bob the Builder and Thomas appealed to me as a kid is because I could use by toys to recreate the shows and make my own stories. The stop motion and model work made the shows look like they were made with the same toys I was playing with. It baffles me that Mattel, a toy company, would overlook something like that.
I remember reading something about Wilbert Audrey out right refusing the idea of make the Railway Series into a children's cartoon when he was first approached about making a show out of the books. AEG feels like a insult to that. They could've done what Hasbro did with MLP G4/Friendship is Magic and their My pony live spin off. That would've let them try out AEG while still having the main show with Andrew Brenner in the team as a stable foundation
I'm actually all for having a show with a bald child. Children going through chemo, or who have other conditions leading to hairloss would probably find it comforting.
It's a crying shame that Little Ellen got bombed for something that it wasn't entirely responsible for. The cartoon itself looked wholesome enough. If it wasn't for the creator's reputation, chances are it would have gotten a much happier ending than it did.
One failed cartoon in particular that I feel should’ve been in the video is 101 Dalmatian Street. It’s a Disney Channel cartoon that first aired between 2018-2019, and was cancelled in 2020 after one season due to low viewership and ratings. The show still has a highly dedicated fandom that’s trying to popularize the show so the demand for the show to be renewed will be higher, especially because of just how much potential there is for a second season and possibly even more than that.
oh hey i really liked 101 dalmatian street, the only problem i had with it is that i think it aired during school hours and it was shown on disneyXD alot, which not many people have so i had to watch it through demand
I used to like it but now I don’t. I especially hate Dolly due to her narcissism. Balancing Act is where she it at her worst, it’s also the worst episode since it combined everything wrong with 101DS with writing that lacks coherence.
@@dorothytheuyfanatic5118ditto. I also hate Triple D, Diesel, Dante, Dimitri Trio, the Canal Crew, Deepak, Delgado, and the background puppies. All are either poorly written or annoying. Dylan, Roxy, and Hunter were the only characters I liked in the whole show. 101DS also takes the cake for BEST interpretation of Cruella.
The thing to take away from AEG, is that the show got leaked like, 2 months before it came out. Matel tried to play damage control, and it didn't work. Since AEG, the communitys been hard at work as usual to create stories based upon the beloved classic series using a varity of methods. The CGI series got flac back in the day, but even it was better then the garbage matel is doing atm. It has me worried Barney's World is going to end up as another cashgrab (i don't think it will because the series has tried to come back 2 times before without a successful attempt)
I think the main issue with the Rugrats reboot other than being arguably unnecessary, is just simply the animation. I'm truly baffled on why they chose to go with 3D animation, because 3D animation on a TV budget and timeline rarely, if ever looks good. And with the availability of 2D animation software there is no way 3D is cheaper or more cost effective at this point, it just seems like an odd way to go to me
When I was very young, I LOVED the original Bob The Builder. It was one of my favourite TV shows. So when I first saw the CGI remake being advertised, me and my family were all like, "that's not Bob!" Leave the original alone! Also, props to Strider for not mentioning the most common problem beside the designs, the fact that they changed the theme song
I watched the og powerpuff girls with my dad and stepmom and I honestly enjoyed it. I remember being really excited when I heard about a reboot of the show but was quickly disappointed with it. Even 9-10 year old me couldn’t watch more than a few episodes. Everything I liked about the og show was almost entirely gone and I was left with an empty shell of a cheap cash-grab reboot of a beloved show. I felt cheated and insulted. I’m 16 now and I’m still disappointed.
Honestly I give respect to the Powerpuff Girls reboot because it's what got me to realize the charm of the series, and it started airing on April 4th, that's my birthday Edit: But to clarify, I get what everyone's saying about it being a cashgrab, but like a broken clock's correct two times a day, some episodes can be genuinely good, this applies to Teen Titans Go too
The worst part of All Engines Go is that despite the negative reception, Mattel just cannot handle the critisicm and just use the “It’s made for kids” excuse.
@@matthewavery2934 And that’s not even counting the Railway Series books, which originated in 1945.
It's funny considering these 6 year olds who don't like AEG will have grown up with BWBA, arguably the worst era in TTTE, so it being bad in comparison to that is very telling

We had better shows back then, they went incredibly into details about how a problem is concerning and how to solve it.
The Rugrats reboot is the definition of “not everything needs to be in 3D”. like honestly, it’s scary.
It's really interesting how some art styles look good in 3d and others outright hideous..! PPG and Danny Phantom doesn't look as ugly as Rugrats (and others by the same company), but they don't look any good in 3D either. Akira Toriyama humanoids look okay in 3D, but... The saddest thing about the failed 3D shows is that you can create perfectly charming worlds in 3D.
You can even make 3D look handmade by add cartoon shaders, or make it look like stop motion. Many games and animations do it. But those big animation studios make it as quantitative as possible for the quick buck.

A few things about Bob the Builder and All Engines Go:
For the former, Wendy was a part of the original show.
To my recollection, the Autistic caboose that was brought into AEG was a cashgrab in the end, and that was after people started liking the character
i presume youre autistic too?
Exactly, Wendy mostly handled the business side of things, so she was just as important as everyone else
Too bad the damage has already been done; I feel like a lot of the bad reviews for the new one are just going off of tradition.

i'll have you know that when caillou started wearing his trademark yellow shirt, he wasnt a brat anymore

Exactly! I didn’t watch Bob much, but I had yet to be in KINDERGARTEN when it came out, and even then I hated it!
One thing I'd like to correct about what you said at 3:18, there was a female construction worker in the original Bob the Builder. She was a pretty prominent character from what I remember, even having episodes centered around her.

In season 2 or 3 of the original Thomas the Tank Engine, the animation got an update and started filming the models in such a way that they even looked to scale with real trains. It was attention to detail like that that made the show great.
I agree
We can thank david mitton for that, may he Rest In Peace.
The Island of Sodor feels like a real place in the first 5 seasons of the show and The Railway Series books. What you have mentioned here made the characters feel like real, full scale locomotives instead of toys.
Thomas was my whole childhood. I though they were real because of how well and real everything seemed. Now I’m not so sure what I think of them.

How to make a reboot 101
1. Take notes from Animaniacs and Tiny Toons. Perfect reboots
2. Don’t add modern generation stuff. It’s not gonna be funny and it’ll get stale and repetitive
3. Don’t make the animation garbage. Make it solid and perfect
4. Don’t add weird stuff or it’ll ruin it. Teen Titans Go and PowerPuff Girls 2016 are good examples for ruining what made the original great
8. DON'T be a kid groomer as PPG reboot was made by that kind of people
Do people even still like the Animaniacs reboot? It looks to me like all discussion on that series abruptly ended when the show actually came out

You should watch the japanese dub of seasons 1 to 12. They gave characters individual voices way before the CGI series and even magic railroad.
Thomas was always it's own show in the UK. Not a segment of another.

Standard of quality would be my guess, so now im wondering how expensive it is to touch up old footage with editing software..
@@bumblehoney7206 They (HiT Entertainment) have remastered season 1-5 (1984-1998) of Thomas The Tank Engine & Friends in 2003.

Sorry my guy, I just hated him and probably will for the rest of my life :/
I kind of agree with you.

Even those Caillou Gets Grounded videos had better quality than the actual Caillou reboot.
I prefer the goanimate stuff. Basically their own things entirely
Not to mention completely inconsistent to the original, especially the later seasons, which I consider my highest recommendation.
The parents actually ground Caillou in the 2016 reboot, making the Caillou Gets Grounded genre somewhat canon
You know you screwed up when the GoAnimate version of Caillou is a more likeable character than the actual Caillou
@@cosmicminun59 At least in the reboot, or in the original's early seasons. The later seasons don't count, at all.
@@samuelgarza2466 Yes, the CGI series did indeed introduce not only Stafford but also Etienne and Kenji.
This is specifically about bad reboots; even then, that wasn't even a reboot and was merely a change in the medium of animation.

Huh. I remember owned and read a few Little Bill books as a tot and I didn’t know he was a real person lol
Jumping from Season 24 to AEG in the span of a year really damaged any chance of it getting viewed well, and even worse so given All Engines Go is treated as a continuation of the original show as the official soundtracks label the AEG seasons as Season 25 and 26.
i hate the bouncing of the engines! like the other reply, it's very chuggington like!

Kind of like Bluey
And NO ugly cgi! Sounds like a pretty nice idea
They tried an older Rugrats and people hated it.
Probably make him more of a British set rolling stock since 'Caboose' is too American.

Replace Paw Patrol with The Wacky Wack Wack World of Tex Avery & it'll be a perfect comment.
Part of why Bob the Builder and Thomas appealed to me as a kid is because I could use by toys to recreate the shows and make my own stories. The stop motion and model work made the shows look like they were made with the same toys I was playing with. It baffles me that Mattel, a toy company, would overlook something like that.

It's a crying shame that Little Ellen got bombed for something that it wasn't entirely responsible for. The cartoon itself looked wholesome enough. If it wasn't for the creator's reputation, chances are it would have gotten a much happier ending than it did.
Honestly, if they gave it a different name than "Little Ellen" it might have had a chance
One failed cartoon in particular that I feel should’ve been in the video is 101 Dalmatian Street. It’s a Disney Channel cartoon that first aired between 2018-2019, and was cancelled in 2020 after one season due to low viewership and ratings. The show still has a highly dedicated fandom that’s trying to popularize the show so the demand for the show to be renewed will be higher, especially because of just how much potential there is for a second season and possibly even more than that.
the artstyle is not good imo

The thing to take away from AEG, is that the show got leaked like, 2 months before it came out. Matel tried to play damage control, and it didn't work. Since AEG, the communitys been hard at work as usual to create stories based upon the beloved classic series using a varity of methods. The CGI series got flac back in the day, but even it was better then the garbage matel is doing atm. It has me worried Barney's World is going to end up as another cashgrab (i don't think it will because the series has tried to come back 2 times before without a successful attempt)
I just realized Adventures of Kid Danger in one episode forshadowed Good Burger 2.
Bob the builder (2015 version) looks like "Minecraft Steve with Bob the builder clothes with rtx"
I watched the og powerpuff girls with my dad and stepmom and I honestly enjoyed it. I remember being really excited when I heard about a reboot of the show but was quickly disappointed with it. I’m 16 now and I’m still disappointed.
Honestly I give respect to the Powerpuff Girls reboot because it's what got me to realize the charm of the series, and it started airing on April 4th, that's my birthday
Edit: But to clarify, I get what everyone's saying about it being a cashgrab, but like a broken clock's correct two times a day, some episodes can be genuinely good, this applies to Teen Titans Go too
