Very poetic and true. But let not forget that htere are those living with depression that don't hurt themselves physical to, but hurting themselves psychologically wish just like psychological abuse doesn't leave that many scars.
Speaking of my own experiences as I have been trough so much physical pain in my life that it will cause more anxiety as I have some medical issues from i was just a baby. So instead I beat myself up psychologically.
These comments are never wrong. The mistakes took them down.
There once was a girl, Lets call her Moon. Moon was a very happy child, until her little brother was born when she turned 7. Her little brother, lets call him Star. Star took a lot of attention away from Moon, she soon became jealous.
However, Star became too hard to handle for their mother. Their mother became very abusive as did the father. The father however took it to an extent, he would beat both Moon and Star to the point where both of them would sob like no tomorrow.
Moon became very depressed cause she saw that her parents fought a lot, and thinking it was all her fault, she tried her best to study to get better grades, she even offered to take care of Star for her mother. Nothing worked, she tried intervening in the fights between her father and her mother, but it only resulted in her getting beat by her father.
When that did happen, her mother would scream even more because she was afraid of being accused of beating Moon, even if it was her father who was to blame. Moon saw that her own mother didn't care for her well-being, but other's opinions on whether she beat her or not. Years passed, Moon felt worse about herself, everyday she feels as if she is hated by everyone.
Even though she is well-known in school, and many people show likeness towards her, she still hears the voices in her head saying "Everyone hates you". Moon goes home trying to lighten the mood, but fails, she has basically lost all hope for life. She, unlike many others, just can't see the future for herself.
She hears everyone saying what college they're going to in the future, what job they'll have, but Moon hears the voices of her own parents saying "You'll NEVER amount to anything", "Retard", "Fuck you", "I hate you", etc, and she believes everything. Her best friend, Penellope tells her constantly that she is worth way more than she thinks, and Moon hears it, yet she doesn't believe it.
She's still scarred from her parents' ugly shouting that kept her awake as she lied in bed. She worries for Star, as he is still constantly beat by their father. She worries for him as well, even though he has beat her over the years, and has called her names, she worries for the fact that he is a work-ahollic. And lastly, she is scared for her mother, as her mother in past years, as a child was beat by her parents, and was neglected. By her brother, she was taunted and picked on, even beat before someone could help.
Moon saw the pain that her mother felt, but she couldn't forgive her anytime soon. Her mother treated what seemed way worse than physical abuse. Mental abuse. Moon had become phycotic due to her mother's actions.
A year later, after 7th grade was over, Moon wrote a good-bye letter, saying good bye to her dear brother Star, to strive in the future, her best friend Penellope, to go on without her, her dearest boyfriend, and many others who meant a lot to her.
She hung herself on the last day, because she couldn't find happiness anymore, anywhere.
Moon hopes she can watch over anyone who feels as if they are worthless, useless, unloved, hopeless, have anxiety, don't have a meaning, don't have a reason to live, or just plain sad. Moon love everyone, regardless of their past actions, cause she finds the good in everyone.💖

If some people here think this is about parents being abusive it isn't. This song is exactly of suicide, the girl as "she" as the end states "they cry tonight, a daughter that they hardly knew, and she's lost in time, another empty bottle takes a life" As in the parents are crying over a daughter taking her own life, she abused herself with drinking. Then there's the line "remembering who she once knew, but they've died inside" shes talking about her old self. There's also the line "This world can be so cruel" as in bullying, as in people can be cruel, not the world itself. The story is about a girl abusing herself with alcohol and possibly drugs. It may have a few lines here and then about parents fighting but its mainly about suicide. This is why the song hits me hard. EDIT- Yes I understand that it started as a broken family but it is focused on the girl and her death.

I dont see why people wouldnt know the real meaning of the song they need to listen and take in the lyrics and think about life and death and love and lpss to truly understand the pain and the love and the sadness that came out of the lyrics and the song they should try to compare there lives with it

OK so i know no one asked but here's what i believe this song is about (if anybody even reads this):
So, this girl lives with her parents and she used to love it when she was little because it was completely loving, but for some reason the father turned into an alcoholic. After her father became addicted to alcohol all the love was replaced with constant bickering she could hear through her locked door. Soon her mom becomes depressed and she can hear her mom crying all night. Soon the girl slowly starts to die with every new empty bottle.
She tries to think about when she was little and all those good memories but, they've all been replaced by alcohol and arguing and crying.
One very bad night she becomes suicidal, she wonders if there's more than arguing and maybe there's happiness. Whats beyond the sky? Maybe heaven? Can she see the light if she falls asleep permanently? So, that night she hangs herself in her room ' lifted up by her own roof.' her parents find her and they breakdown. Mourning over the daughter they barley got to know. Now its over shes gone, somewhere in time. Another empty bottle takes a life.

Im honestly wondering, did you think this song was about parent abusing? If so, its actually not, its about suicide. This is why this song honestly hits me, the parents aren't the ones drinking its the girl the story is about.
It's about a broken home. A mother and father fighting. The father drinks. "Another empty bottle." Yes, it is about suicide but in this situation it is because the girl is depressed. Her parent contribute to that. The girl kills herself that's why there's a bottle but it's *another* one because drinking is what destroyed her family.
My dad was in prison for 3 years and all I heard was my mom crying because she was struggling . I fell In depression and every night I cryed my self to sleep, but no one heard me so I have been depressed ever sence I still cry my self to sleep. This and a song and her last words are my favorite songs

Wow sounds like my life. My dad left my mum when I was 9. He always left us and came back so I thought he'd come back in a week. He didn't. I still locked myself in my room even before my dad left my mum. I cried every night. Mostly bc my mum kept feeding my sisters wrong and mean info about my dad and I was angry about that bc my dad's nice, he just goes to the pub sometimes and only got drunk twice. Whenever I ask "do u still like dad as a friend?" She always lies and says yes. My older brother was on my side and said that saying wrong information about my dad is bad. I try not to cry when I hear this song but it's just so relatable so it gets to me sometimes

Haven't did this before, so, here goes
I see a girl. The first years of her life were blissful. She and her parents were storybook happy. But they couldn't live in this fairy world forever. As she grew older, her parents would fight, shout and scream. She would hide her head under her pillow, pushing it so hard against her head it throbbed. I see her coming downstairs to help, to make them see all they had. It worked sometimes. But others they reflected their anger at each other onto her. Living in that house became a nightmare, she had no friends because she walked around school with her head down, tired because she couldn't sleep through the her parents shouting. I see her father cheating. Her mother thoroughly depressed by it all, finding no comfort in her daughter. The girl had nothing to live for, she couldn't take anymore...
It was only when she had gone, her parents realised what they had done and what they had lost...

Those words/lyrics will always be remembered by me because I know a lot of people deal with this and a lot of people are not sensitive and don't think their actions hurt the one who fakes a smile everyday to make sure nobody worries or notices the one who has battle scars and hide them away afraid of asking for help, the one who may act mean because of personal stuff because they want people to feel their pain because they didn't have such happy things like the other's did, the one who can't even eat that much or just don't eat because their scared to be judged because they know someone will judge them because they ARE judged, the one who is abused but scared or just can't leave because they are in deep love because the person they once knew was more kind and sweet, the innocent one who is now traumatized because of something even I'm afraid of, the one who isn't innocent but is traumatized scared of letting anyone in because they'll be hurt again, I ask why, Why people can do things like this, How can you traumatize someone an innocent person, how can they say such nasty bad words about people, how can you ruin someone else's life?, Even if they've gone through the same pain harmful words why would they do the same to other's you don't look at them and think it must hurt them that the pain you went through was unbearable that it must hurt so much that they feel the same that it must be a nightmare?, How can someone do such nasty things? and then regret it after the person is no longer here after the person is traumatized and hurt afraid, all I want to know is how did they grow into such a person a lot of people think it's funny to see someone suffer it's fun it makes their day but would they think it was if they experienced it theirselves It's really sad how people can do that, everyday I do my best to hide my tears to not make people worry because I want to make sure they aren't sad because of me yes it hurts maybe the pain is unbearable But is it impossible to take it? No it's not because at the end of the day I need to hold it in for my family for my friends for the people who I love, there's always something bright at the end of crying after I cry I laugh I'm happy because at the end of the day I wasn't doing something I'd regret by committing suicide because once my family is finally happy it's how I always imagined it we're all happy we have no need for a mansion all I ask for is peace and happiness for my family if not for me then for them because I want to be there with them the only time I'm happy is when their happy and that all I want we can be in a tight situation but if we're still happy I'm sure everything's gonna work out.

I relate to this so much my dad was killed over drugs when I was 10 months old and after my mom got remarried and he cheated and they got a divorce I was about 4 to 5 years old now I'm 12 almost 13 and live with my grandma and grandpa because I turned my mom in to help me my sister 7 years old and my mom and most girls my age are worried about guys girls clothes and makeup and I'm worried about finding my mom dead from overdose or her abusive relationship with a guy who broke his ex wife's jaw and I have nightmare every night that someone I love will die and at this point in my life I don't have happy dreams and me bing and insomniac and depressed does not help. I already have been diagnosed with multiple mental illness and problems and the medicine for them are starting to not work because I've used them so long.

I'm a 13 year old transgender boy that saw their grandpa dying slowly infront of them without knowing that he was dying. And after he died my mother had a child (my little brother he's 2) with the man who would steal my medication, drink till he passed out, hit my mother and almost killed her on multiple occasions and I would always see it and just 4 months ago we found him dead in his bed from a drug overdose and now I can't get my mothers screams out of my head from when she found him. I had been watching my little brother the whole day because my step dad would normally sleep till 4 pm or later and he was dead there for more than 12 hours. I suffer from ADHD, Schizophrenia, and PTSD. So for me this song is goals.

This is such a beautiful song but I can’t hear it without crying.
My dad used to drink every evening and then get into arguments with my mum, I’d try to ignore that it was happening but I couldn’t get away from it. Any way I started to think I was the reason my dad drank so much and fell into a really dark part of the mind, all I could think about was what would happen if I were to just disappear, if that would stop them fighting, but then I’d remember my younger sister. She shouldn’t have to be left alone to cope because of my decision. That eventually lead me to getting enough courage to tell my dad to stop drinking, I kept reminding him until he eventually stopped. Its been a few years since then but this song still hurts because all I can think about is how close I got to being like the girl in this song, I can’t believe how well this story fits into my life.
To anyone going through a similar situation, find something, anything, to keep yourself here. It may not feel like it sometimes, but there is always going to be someone that’ll miss you if you’re gone.
